I hope you've seen our incoming class. If not, let me highlight... Please keep in mind, these guys (except Forrest) went against some of the best players in the state night-in and night-out. Jordan Williams: PPG-29.7 RPG-9.5 (This is the kind of guy we're after) Chris Jones: PPG-16.6 RPG-4.8 APG-6.9 (ok. Chris didn't have 8 rpg, but he's a PG) Trey Norris: PPG-16.4 RPG-1.1 APG-3.7 (another PG) Forrest Robinson: PPG-21.4 RPG-9.2 (Forrest is your closest comparison. This guy would run circles around the two you mentioned). For comparison's sake, I included our JUCO and transfers' H.S. stats: *Brandon Walton: I cant find his H.S. stats *Tony Mitchell: PPG-20.5 RPG-13.2 (please) *Roger Franklin: PPG-32.5 RPG-7.3 (This guy averaged 20 more ppg at DUNCANVILLE than the two you mentioned) These guys are probably really good in 9-3A, but they don't have any offers from anyone and dont belong in the 31st ranked recruiting class in the NCAA.3 points

I think we finally have enough evidence to determine that HoopManX really knows nothing about basketball, is not well connected in the area, and is simply your average SMU fan overflowing with unbridled pretentiousness and arrogance.3 points

It's been rumored that you guys love money and stuff? I believe 5k (rather than <1K) at the gate would be pretty good enticement to play a game against lil' ol' UNT. Ask your A.D. Now, is that $ worth more than the black eye you are sure to take with the game? Maybe not. I thought we did that? A winning basketball program. Dont you want to try and beat a winner? That way, maybe SMU could be a winner too! Oh, now you're just pandering... Get back to breaking down local b-ball talent. That's what you're good at.2 points

Nobody outside of your tiny bubble in Dallas looks at SMU as a big boy in any way, shape, or form. You, my friend, are the one that needs to get real. There are plenty of teams that play in worse conferences than SMU and have more clout than SMU on the hardwood. Take Western Kentucky, for example, much better program, facility, tradition, wins, more prestige than SMU, in fact it isn't even close. They play in the Sun Belt. Does SMU have better facilities than UNT right now? I am not so sure about that, at least after this fall. I could care less about playing SMU, we have bigger fish to fry. If you think SMU's players are going to be excited to play in front of less than 1k fans then you are wrong yet again. I am fine playing UTA every year as they are better than TCU and SMU anyway. I know that you probably laugh at that because you are so high on a bunch of players that have never played college basketball, on a team that just lost by far its best player, but as hard as it is for you to hear it is true. You have turned no corners, and your coach will find a way to leave you wondering why most of these players never developed into what they could have. While we will probably make it to the NCAA's 5 more times before you win a game in your conference tournament, or beat a team from a real conference. Good luck, you will need it.2 points

I don't know. We only lost to ULL by 1, ASU by 5, Troy by 6 and ULM by 12. FIU is the only team that really handled us in conference and they beat us by 24. I just don't think it will take that long to turn it around. This year could be a surprise, but realistically, I would think we are very competitive next year and a consistently strong program in year 4.2 points

thought they were all kinda weak. let the minus ones ensue that's fine. Was facebook the only marketing tool? I'm not sure how they plan on implementing the winner but i feel like there are some better pictures out there.2 points

I think most of us on this board would agree that NMSU would be/has been a great rival for NT. I have really enjoyed watching those games...and they do see to be a natural rival for us.2 points

So I get a -4 for calling an ugly helmet ugly? wow... I'm really glad this board is not in charge of designing our new uniforms.2 points

Greetings GoMeanGreen land. It's been quite some time since I have had a chance to post any news. I wanted to make you aware of my two current major projects. The first should come as no surprise. It is a New Stadium Video. I have footage and pictures dating all the way back to groundbreaking. It should make for a nice final project when the stadium is completed. Some of you may have already seen my work with the Football and Basketball videos on YouTube and Vimeo. North Texas has a big place in my heart, and I enjoy getting to give something back. Currently, all of my time and energy is going into my first Full Length Documentary. The documentary is on The Buddy League, a special needs baseball league in Garland, TX. I invite you to please visit our site and spread the word. We are currently raising funds to complete our project. The project has already grown to be one of the most popular on the site in the first 2 days of campaigning. Feel free to check out our Proof of Concept video and read about the project. NMSU has a higher athletic budget than any SBC program. La. Tech would be in the bottom half of SBC athletic budgets.1 point

I sat at a local bank one day many years ago and watched Hayden Fry sketch out the new Iowa Hawkeye logo as he told us (before even the press) that he was heading to Iowa. A sad day for me that I will always recall as if it were yesterday. He had come to the bank to let the then president (who was a big supporter) know that he was leaving before he read about it in the local and Dallas press. Since I was a bank VP at the time and knew Hayden, he asked me to come into the little "chat" as well. As I recall, there were three of us sitting in the president's office with Coach fry that day. What he did was take out a piece of paper and sketch out that stylized Hawkeye and then say..."what would you think if I went to Iowa?" ... OUCH. Coach Fry will always hold a fond place in my heart...great guy and I can see a lot of Coach Fry in Coach McCarney...which gives me great hope for the Mean green. Sure hope Coach Fry is able to come to the Sept. 10th game to help open the new stadium. GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

lol, we will take our two home games this year and next as a favor to you... this allows you time to improve to the point that you can make it competitive at home... I fear the smu faithful fifteen fans would go home very disappointed this year or next.1 point

As good a laugh as she had when she went to the bank and saw the deposit from UNT, who bankrolled her as a losing coach for almost 20 years? I wonder...1 point

Are you serious, or are you just a huge 9-3A fan? This is the second player from that district you have mentioned as someone that would top your wish list for the final basketball scholarship. These guys would be lucky to walk-on at Northwestern State in Wichita Falls, let alone take up one of our valuable schollies.1 point

I love the idea in theory but from a merchandising standpoint, it would be difficult unless you had clothing manufacturers buy in and produce the correct color for t-shirts, etc. It has been difficult finding the right shade of green the last couple of years and with kelly green you would think it would be easy!1 point

Personally, I think UNT will be competing for a Sunbelt crown within 3 years...not 4. The top 25 ranking...6-7 seems about right, would like to see it in 5-6. Heck, I'd like to see it next season...well how about 2011, but just might take Coach McCarney a bit longer than that to turn the ship around. GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

I can understand peoples dislike of all black unis given what happened in the past. However, black + green looks good, it just does. I hate our unis we have had the past few seasons, they're just bad. Home=Green tops/ green pants black belt Away=White tops green numbers/ green pants black belt black pant stripe Alternate= Black tops/Black pants white belt green numbers/pant stripe You guys are acting like putting black in to the combination somewhere is the same as having a uniform like Oregon's. It's not, lots of teams incorporate black in to their uniforms, and it would be awesome to have a blackout day on one of the games in the new stadium.1 point

Here's what you said. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see an All Black design as well, black out day, whole nine yards... I read that as all black. Perhaps I misread.1 point

Hello little box, let's stay right in here. You know, where everybody's comfy, our uniforms change every 3 yrs, as do the logo, color scheme, helmet design. And I never said all Black... Thanks for those words in my mouth...1 point

At least I hope this non-issue is over. What more can be said? OK, now it is finally over. BHO has released his long form birth certificate to the public. One has to wonder "what took so long"? If he really thought this was such a non-issue and a distraction from real issues, why wait so long to release the darn thing? Plus, I think he could have used it much more strategically in the upcoming campaign rather than release it now. Now, Donald trump will take all the credit for getting the thing released...maybe he did have something to do with it, but surely, no one thinks Trump is a viable candidate for president of this great nation of ours. If you want to see the birth certificate, it is online at MSN.com and any number of other sites. Finally, thank goodness, the guy did the easy thing and released the long form birth certificate. Unless he was actually enjoying it all...why not do this years ago when the issue first came up? At least this end that silly "birther" thing. Seems to me that it works more in the favor of his political opponents campaigns than it does his...the dems can't be calling folks "birthers" any longer. Now, get on with issues that matter for the nation and the world. PLEASE!0 points

Broadcaster #1: "An interesting feature of this stadium is how they shaped the endzone to look like a pair of eagle's wings." Broadcaster #2: "What prompted them to incorporate an eagle into the stadium design?" Broadcaster #1: "Nobody knows."0 points

No to the interlocking NT !! SOW on the side of the helmet is the obvious choice. Black looks great with kelly green, just look at our BBall unis. I'm thinking a green SOW, outlined in black on a green helmet with a black facemask. Mean Green should have lots of green.0 points

All this talk of new Nike jerseys seems great. We're sponsored by Wilson. That's second to worst behind being sponsored by Russell like WKU. I don't feel to confident making fun of WKU at the Sun Belt Tournament and saying, "Hey WKU, where'd you get those Russell jerseys? Thrift Store?!" And then realize we're not much better. What if we didn't have the usual Nike uniforms that look dumb like KU? Or Texas? Something classy, something Nike, something Green. That'd be great, in my opinion.0 points

Unfortunately there's nothing 'Mean' looking about the color white. The first combat gear posted with black pants/pads and white lettering is a step in the right direction.-1 points

What did you expect from the Sun Belch? I can tell you this: Conference USA would not have let this happen. Maybe we should investigate moving to that conference.-1 points
