If you are referring to SMU as the "big boy" in your scenario, then you are as dumb as you sound. I don't know many self-proclaimed "big boys" that get 1,000 fans on a good night, when the so-called little guy draws over 4,000 nightly. Say what you want, but SMU just lost the best player they have had in forever and was .500 against division one teams. The only corner you have turned is from bad to mediocre, congratulations.4 points

There is no way to have a serious conversation on this board. We are simply too cutesy and clever. Look, regardless of the forum where you find it your own intelligence should tell you that when you spend far beyond your means that you are eventually going to have to pay the piper. We can't keep printing more money to cover our debt. When half of the taxpayers are supporting the other half as well as themselves the house of cards has to eventually collapse. That's not spin. The Tea Party has the answer...live within your means. There must be some painful and serious cuts soon to get through this crisis. I hope that we have the cajones and good sense to bite the bullet.4 points

Well, at least this explains his decision to play in Albuquerque. All ugly women are welcome.3 points

I will be coming in to Miami International on Thursday at 12:50, you can find me outside of the AA terminal. I will need to be taken to the hotel so I can check in and change into my game clothes then I will need to be taken to the game. And of course back to the hotel after the game. Thanks for offering! If you come out with us after the game I'll buy you a drink lol I'm not asking for too much am I?1 point

It is frustrating that Tech made the list, but I understand where the writer is coming from. Outside of the past 5 years UNT has no real success in basketball and we've still never won an NCAA tourney game. Hopefully, the incoming class can take us to the next level1 point

Just going by gut feeling: I don't think it's totally out of the question that we can have a serious hand in this card game. How is USF's current corps of WRs looking?1 point

---I have been in Europe several times... Trains travel works well there partially because once you get to a city there are subways, trolley systems, and other good ground transportation available to go about anywhere you want to go.. That usually is not the case here.... Once to get to a city (Dallas is bad) you don't have a extremely good in-city transportation system that runs every few minutes. In Chicago, New York, and San Fran it is easy to get to basebasll/football stadiums and to museums... In Dallas that doesn't exist and many other towns are not much better.1 point

I guess we're not in the mix for him....but Mike Doocy just noted on Facebook that Jarion Henry (Dallas Kimball) will be making his announcement tonight on the 10 o'clock sports show on Ch. 40 points

I'm glad. The requirement of needing to be a current FBS program was extremely limiting and short sighted. No one wants or cares about Louisiana Tech and all it would have done (assuming they were the target) is double up teams in a rural area of Louisiana. Give Texas State-San Marcos a couple years to bake, and see if there is any movement on the FCS side within the Sun Belt footprint.0 points

Two interesting articles out of China: China and other countries that hold about 50% of all US Tres securities......dump them...push up interest rates & swell the national debt. http://usa.chinadaily.com.cn/us/2011-04/24/content_12383189.htm China dumping debt: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/china/2011-04/23/c_13842843.htm Two really interesting reads..... It is too bad that one must read foreign papers to find out what is happening in the US.0 points

I agree to a point, but an hour or so is too short. Would you rather fight through 2 hours and get there, or be forced to get off quickly, find a place to stay, and coordinate the process all over again? I think 3-4 hours is a decent endline, but I think just as many people would be pissed if they were constantly deplaned - not to mention how that could screw up a flight system.-1 points

Josh Howard should be shot for fouling Nash and missing a foul shot in the final minute - needless 4 point swing. I felt like I was watching our basket....nope, that's bad karma. I felt like I was watching the Clippers. There was really only about 30 solid minutes of game time Dallas seemed to be trying last night...ridiculous.-1 points

Whelp, turns out the Arkansas media and fans are just delusional, crazy f'ers. Next thing they'll know they'll think you can have a title worthy football team without a decent quarterback and never get exposed in a 13 game season by superior coaches like Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll. Oh wait...did that happen? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2817721-1 points

Rhoomes is a spring signee, far from a polished kid, and isn't even really a true Big East prospect. Bsed on the class at TCU, it's same day, same result. Everytime they sign someone, I chuckle a little. Its bad in Cowtown-1 points

I tend to agree here. Texas State has good potential to get off the ground fairly quickly in a watered-down WAC. They would probably love a regional conference with an in-state rival and travel partner, so that might make sense. I would still go after NMSU, also, to get the SBC to 12 teams, with the understanding that La Tech only gets in if ULM drops down. The funny part here is that LA Tech has looked so far down their noses at ULM and the SBC that it will be sweet to see them fall off the FBS map because the SBC continues to grow and show stability and the mere fact that ULMs presence in the SBC would blackball La Tech from ever joining. Its almost like the reverse of our situation with SMU and CUSA. As an aside, I still cannot believe that SMU would back La Tech for CUSA inclusion--what a joke...-1 points

So just how long does he think it will take us to get to where we need to go? I think it will take 4 years to compete again for a Sun Belt Championship and 6-7 years before we can get a top 25 ranking.-1 points
-
Umm...I'm pretty sure the MAC would have the same complaint about the Sunbelt. In fact, I bet if you asked most college football fans, they would guess UMASS to be 1-A and North Texas 1-AA.-2 points

I was wondering if I should get season tickets this year. I really don't want to waste my money on another crappy season.-2 points

First off, it was a one year scheduling thing, next year should be better, and the year before was decent(A&M, South Florida, UNLV, College of Charleston, Northeastern etc. SMU needs 2 or 3 high majors on the schedule, 3 or so better mid majors, and D1 low major gimmes. Hate on the program all you want, but from a roster & system stand point, they've turned the corner. Next year, one ofthe mids on the schedule is New Mexico and rumors of Creighton swirl, so the schedule will bump up. You want a Metroplex Tourney, make it for charity, and then whomever doesn't want in, looks bad. That's what happened at the BB&T in DC. Georgetown and Maryland hate each other, but Maryland can't say no to local charity and plays this awful backyard brawl of a tourney every year. Gtown won't play, so john Feinstein just kills them in the press. Create enough crap press, maybe a big boy starts to care about UNTs wants and needs, until then, no.-2 points
