  3. Okay, I haven't gone through every post in this thread, but I'm in like Flyn. So, put me in the draft. At 35 I'm making a comeback! I've been away from the board for a while, so how is the mood these days?

  4. Sorry, I guess some of us don't get on the board quite as much as you. Sorry to offend with this post!

  5. Greetings GoMeanGreen land. It's been quite some time since I have had a chance to post any news. I wanted to make you aware of my two current major projects. The first should come as no surprise. It is a New Stadium Video. I have footage and pictures dating all the way back to groundbreaking. It should make for a nice final project when the stadium is completed. Some of you may have already seen my work with the Football and Basketball videos on YouTube and Vimeo. North Texas has a big place in my heart, and I enjoy getting to give something back. Currently, all of my time and energy is going into my first Full Length Documentary. The documentary is on The Buddy League, a special needs baseball league in Garland, TX. I invite you to please visit our site and spread the word. We are currently raising funds to complete our project. The project has already grown to be one of the most popular on the site in the first 2 days of campaigning. Feel free to check out our Proof of Concept video and read about the project. The Buddy League Documentary

  11. I'm pretty sure they moved it because the whole stadium can see the video board when it's placed on the south end. Also, I think Denia complained about some aspect of the board being on the wing. Anyways, this is REALLY old news.

  13. I can understand why yall are crying about not being on the top 5 list but in reality All about Unt is right, I dont think right now we are a top 5 team in the state. Once the players are on the court and beating top teams and not going .500 in the sun belt, then we have something to complain about. Im pretty sure all of those teams have gone past the first round in the tournament, I know we have a great class coming in but it doesnt matter whats on paper its what we do on the court that matters.

  14. Yeah, but compare the two lists. The Texas list is a whole lot stronger than the Florida list.

  15. What a slap in the face to UNT and the Sun Belt. This guy is a Billy Gillispie homer or something. He doesn't even give respect to a program that's already been resurrected by a quality coach at UNT. I'll say on thing for Pat Knight, he told the truth about no other Big XII team playing UNT their second game of the year. Maybe K-State or KSU, but I doubt KSU will play us or Mr. Mitchell's mom might walk up to coach Martin a slap him in the face, LOL!!!

  16. I've seen this before. Two well-meaning jokesters realize how fun it is to mock everything and everything about this board. They antogonize like mad and go from being universally hated to somewhat accepted due to their sheer force of will. Long-time readers might even find themselves giving them props they never expected to give at some of the better placed comments. Things are going well. Then...something changes. They start posting all the time and weighing in on everything. Without realizing it, they are the ones driving the same banal conversations they showed up to mock. Next, they meet a poster at a game or find out someone they kind of know is already posting. From there, all bets are off. Firefighters shake their hands and tell them they may not always agree, but they are great fans. They meet some more folks at a tailgate and realize they are good people. Finally, they look down and see a 4 digit post count climbing rapidly and realize - gasp- they've gone native. I'll give you the same advice I tried to give your fathers a little more than two decades ago -- pull out now and slow things down before you get stuck.

  18. How can any regular season be any more meaningless than the NBA (except maybe the NHL's) when just about everyone makes the playoffs? Pro basketball has become a "sport of stars" where the rules of basketball do not apply to certain people. Pro basketball is doing a good bit to ruin the sport of basketball. But, to each his/her own. I guess that's why there are so many different sports. For me, nothing as great as the college game. No way does the pro game (in any sport) compare to the relationship one has with their college team.

  19. Sorry, but outside of UNT I could careless about college basketball. The offenses are boring, there are no true super stars, and they have the most meaningless regular season in all of sports.

  20. It's still a lot more fun to watch than college basketball

  24. If I had to do it over again, I'd have gone to UTSA for a year then UT. Why? I'm a big city guy, and UT offered more cultural programming in my realm (yes thats a very vague description) I also did not like the city of Denton, and the fact that save for a stint in South America and one semester in DC I've lived in the area my whole life now is more important. (i'd like to like in central texas someday, if I dont get to the big city) I think the networking thing is huge too. UNT is getting better at this (just look at our collin county mixer turnout) but we need a more downtown dallas presence. Why? All the business is down there. What I would like to see is my alma mater's acceptance rate at 55-60%, not 75%. I want my child to feel honored that he was accepted to UNT, and treat it that way. Having 2 days between when I applied and when I was accepted makes it feel like I was going to Quad C or whatever it is called now. If I'm living in the area, I want my kid going out of state, because he/she needs to experience new things.

  25. Great - the kiss of death. I fear our postseason traditions transfered across each other when the Mavs trained up here. Like Freaky Friday, but with much crappier results, because you can't turn it off or stare at Lohan's jugs.

  26. Take it a step further - grill out and hire 18 elementary school kids to play baseball in your backyard. That will show those damn athletes doing sports as a career what fun really is!

  35. HAHA We can hold back a year... snag him along with Prince and some other nice top state recruit. And redshirt Forrest Robinson anyone? Wouldn't hurt.... let him develop and if we pick up Miller we will be well stocked on bigs and other position already. Next year then bring in Prince and Robinson as freshman

  36. I would agree overall if his numbers carry over from highschool, but I feel Williams is more built for college already. Not just size wise but basketball iq and court smart. I am still very high on Jones as well and even Robinson when he develops. Im curious to see how tall he is when he comes. Being listed at 6-10 at age 17... figure he could hit 7 foot....

  37. I find it hard to argue with the article. We haven't played anywhere near the schedule (strength) that Texas Tech has. If this class is as strong as I think it is our time will come.

  38. Interesting concept...abdicate the role of parent and let the kid decide. I think I understand what you are saying, and there is some validity to it, but let me ask. Do you have any kids? If so, what age? This is no small decision, and often involves a financial decision as well. There should ALWAYS be parental input into such decisions regardless of who is "paying the freight". I am in no way advocating that a parent make the decision for the kid, but just saying that there should always be parental input into such decisions. One problem we have as a society today is that too many parents are abdicating their responsibilities as parents and letting the kid make too many decisions alone without the benefit of the experience and wisdom parents can often interject. This is a serious decision and should not be taken lightly...parents, kids, guidance counselors, etc. should all provide input.. Not saying you are abdicating anything here, and I really don't think you mean to let the kid just say, I want to go "here" and that's all it is to the matter, but just wanted to point out the need for parental input for young people trying to make such decisions. They need help...even if they don't think they do.

  39. Would you consider getting season tickets if they promoted them more accurately? "Buy tickets for 2 games against legitimate opponents - get tickets to games against 4 sunbelt opponents free!"
