  3. Greetings GoMeanGreen land. It's been quite some time since I have had a chance to post any news. I wanted to make you aware of my two current major projects. The first should come as no surprise. It is a New Stadium Video. I have footage and pictures dating all the way back to groundbreaking. It should make for a nice final project when the stadium is completed. Some of you may have already seen my work with the Football and Basketball videos on YouTube and Vimeo. North Texas has a big place in my heart, and I enjoy getting to give something back. Currently, all of my time and energy is going into my first Full Length Documentary. The documentary is on The Buddy League, a special needs baseball league in Garland, TX. I invite you to please visit our site and spread the word. We are currently raising funds to complete our project. The project has already grown to be one of the most popular on the site in the first 2 days of campaigning. Feel free to check out our Proof of Concept video and read about the project. The Buddy League Documentary

  4. I would agree overall if his numbers carry over from highschool, but I feel Williams is more built for college already. Not just size wise but basketball iq and court smart. I am still very high on Jones as well and even Robinson when he develops. Im curious to see how tall he is when he comes. Being listed at 6-10 at age 17... figure he could hit 7 foot....

  5. HAHA We can hold back a year... snag him along with Prince and some other nice top state recruit. And redshirt Forrest Robinson anyone? Wouldn't hurt.... let him develop and if we pick up Miller we will be well stocked on bigs and other position already. Next year then bring in Prince and Robinson as freshman

  6. Yeah that Denver verbal is a head scratcher. Considering Johnny's luck this year, I expect him to xfer to Denton before all is said and done. He'll bring pie, too.

  9. Why wouldn't you? Great new coach, great new stadium and a great home schedule...other than that, I cannot come up with any reasons to buy season tickets. Oh yeah, helping the university might be fun, too.

  12. Interesting concept...abdicate the role of parent and let the kid decide. I think I understand what you are saying, and there is some validity to it, but let me ask. Do you have any kids? If so, what age? This is no small decision, and often involves a financial decision as well. There should ALWAYS be parental input into such decisions regardless of who is "paying the freight". I am in no way advocating that a parent make the decision for the kid, but just saying that there should always be parental input into such decisions. One problem we have as a society today is that too many parents are abdicating their responsibilities as parents and letting the kid make too many decisions alone without the benefit of the experience and wisdom parents can often interject. This is a serious decision and should not be taken lightly...parents, kids, guidance counselors, etc. should all provide input.. Not saying you are abdicating anything here, and I really don't think you mean to let the kid just say, I want to go "here" and that's all it is to the matter, but just wanted to point out the need for parental input for young people trying to make such decisions. They need help...even if they don't think they do.

  13. Argument #1 - Cost A board in the midst of the wing zone would be relatively expensive in order to be seen. In an effort to keep costs to a minimum the north end zone board was scrapped. Argument #2 - Necessity With a much larger and more complete board at the south end of the stadium the smaller board became unnecessary because 99% would be looking in that direction anyway. Argument #3 - Aesthetics A board in the middle of the wing zone would be coyote ugly and detract from the uniqueness of the special design. Argument #4 - Misconception Some would say that it was only the artist's conception of what the stadium might look like with a few bells and whistles.

  14. I'm sure they would be glad to accept donations for the second scoreboard...it's a cost thing, I'll bet.

  15. Royce O"Neale isn't what I would call " top talent".I just put his name on that list because he is going to Denver. From what I've seen I think Jones is a better overall player than Jordan , but that's just my take. I think Jones is one of the top 10 players in the state

  24. I've too thought about this but in a different way. I currently live in Denton and though we may not stay here forever, if we did I doubt my daughters would want to 'go off to college' in the same town their parents live in. So, do I need to move?

  25. I was accepted at Syracuse and all ready to go. Decided to play football at a small school in San Antonio and went there instead. Hated it there, came back to Dallas not knowing what the hell I wanted to do, and ended up at a Dallas CC (Wife, girlfriend back then, may have had a little to do with that ). Transferred to UNT and the rest is history. I wouldn't mind my kids at TCU, Tech, or Baylor. No to UT & SMU...

  30. I have every intention of brainwashing my future children into the "ways of the green"... In all seriousness, it will come down to what THEY want to do. Like many have said though, if it is SMU, A&M or UT, they can pay for it themselves. I couldn't let them waste 4 years. For what it's worth, as a person that was going to UNT football games before I was even old enough to remember (The 1995 Oregon State football game is the first one I can recall), I can say with 100% confidence that my life-long experience with UNT has not been a disappointment, and I've received so much more in return than I've put in. I wouldn't trade it for anything, and it is for that reason why I would have no problem steering my childeren to UNT unless it was not in line with their hopes, dreams, and aspirations. It will be a few more years before I even have kids though...

  38. I see somehow FAU made the Florida list... yet we cannot make the Texas list? What a crock!!!!

  39. What a slap in the face to UNT and the Sun Belt. This guy is a Billy Gillispie homer or something. He doesn't even give respect to a program that's already been resurrected by a quality coach at UNT. I'll say on thing for Pat Knight, he told the truth about no other Big XII team playing UNT their second game of the year. Maybe K-State or KSU, but I doubt KSU will play us or Mr. Mitchell's mom might walk up to coach Martin a slap him in the face, LOL!!!

  41. SMU hoops is rapidly improving. We get both our '10 & '11 class eligible next year, as well as the two transfers The issue w/playing UNT in hoops is that it's regarded as a 'no win' for SMU. I was discussing this same topic w/a college coach the other day. He said that he felt AAU was the death of the crosstown rivalry nationally. Since all these kids play each other, there will always be those kids that feel slighted, play w/a chip on their shoulder. The team in the higher power conference gets screwed by getting into a backyard brawl etc. Maybe they get a slight RPI jump if they win, but since it's a less profile league, it's not a 'good' win on the resume. He went on to say that mid-teams don't want many '50/50' games on their schedule. They want to pay for sure fire Ws, and be in a position to slay Goliath 2 or 3 times, add in a good conference record etc. FWIW, that's not my take, but I've heard it a few times, from guys at different schools, and thought it was interesting. I will say this, after profiling a bunch of areas/cities, specifically back east, there are many of these potential OOC 'rivalries' that have fallen dormant. Its not just SMU & UNT.

  42. I'd like to see it, but there has to be something in it for SMU/TCU, as they already play.

  44. There is no way to have a serious conversation on this board. We are simply too cutesy and clever. Look, regardless of the forum where you find it your own intelligence should tell you that when you spend far beyond your means that you are eventually going to have to pay the piper. We can't keep printing more money to cover our debt. When half of the taxpayers are supporting the other half as well as themselves the house of cards has to eventually collapse. That's not spin. The Tea Party has the answer...live within your means. There must be some painful and serious cuts soon to get through this crisis. I hope that we have the cajones and good sense to bite the bullet.
