  3. I didn't get a chance is quitter/loser talk. If they didn't give him one, he didn't give them a reason to. You can't afford to keep your best athletes off the field at this level. If you want reps you have to show why you deserve them with effort and execution.

  5. Rather than make ridiculous inferences as to the shape of the depth chart after 3 practices, we could just be kinda excited that we have a senior no one really expected to be available at a position for which we have relatively little depth.

  10. My problem with Libya, and Obama in general, is that he goes about his business without the knowledge or approval of Congress. He skirts the law as best he can and then "escapes" to another country, in this case Chile, to avoid the immediate backlash. Then again, the liberal media, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc... will never call him on any of this. Some of you may not have like Bush or how he went about his business, but the man did what he thought was in the best interest of the United States, not the world, and was upfront and communicated to Congress what his actions would be. In fact, in the case of invading Iraq, the Democratic led Congress approved of this move. Obama has no foreign policy and no leadership skills.

  15. So funny to see those that are in complete support of the Iraq and Afganistan war to be against the Lybian action. Even more funny to see those that were so against the "Bush oil war" in Iraq be in complete support of Pres. Obama's unilateral, non-congressionally approved action in Lybia. If Bush had done the same thing, these same folks would be going ballistic with the fascist rhetoric. As long as it is "my side" doing it, I'll defend it, critical thinking be damned!! Quite amusing.

  16. My comment about Obama doing stuff outside the normal procedures goes way beyond Libya, but it is just the latest. Regarding Libya, Obama decided to bomb them, yet nobody knew the intention of the mission. How about Obama and his appointed czars to get around senate hearings? How about Obama trampling on the Constitution? I could go on and on. Just trying to find fault? It's not hard when it falls at my feet every day. The man is a joke of a leader. You may not have liked Bush, but we knew where he stood on the issues. Every time their is some sort of crisis Obama is either out of the country or on vacation. He has weakened our military and our image globally and his economic policies have been epic failures.

  18. Isn't the power of rationalization great when it comes to supporting one's personal opinion? Those that did not like Bush will always find some way to throw Bush out as the root of all that is wrong and find a way to bless Obama for all he is doing right...and vice versa. It was enjoyable to me to listen to Obama use some of the same "logic" in speaking to the country last evening that Bush had used in his speeches...of course, even Obama couldn't resist taking a shot at Bush last night. you know, it's just different when your guy says it! Too funny. Folks, call it what you want, rationalize it any way you want too, the US went to war under Bush's watch and did so under Obama's watch. Remember, there was a coalition of nations involved in both the Iraq wars and in Afghanistan...there is a coalition involved in the Libyan campaign. Call it what you want...blame whoever you want, bullets and missiles are flying and people are being killed. The U.S. has very little "vital interests" to be tied to Libya, and even if we had the proof, no one will ever know if the people of Benghazi (spelling?) would have been slaughtered as Obama said they would be to justify the US initiated attack. What I do know is that US troops are now involved in a conflict on three fronts. Very tough situation, and in my opinion, this Libyan thing may see "boots on the ground" before it is all said and done. Nice that we can justify this one as a humanitarian effort in which we now want to take a back seat. Right! You go Arab League! You go NATO!

  21. Butler had the #9 player overall in last yr's NBA draft class. VCU had the #15 player in last yrs NBA draft class. I believe the majority of fans, especially fans like us, from a non-aq school, love the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament for the exact reason of seeing a George Mason (2006), or Butler (2010) or even 2 "mid-majors" have a shot at it. And you're big boys, have been getting their tale's whipped by these other guys this entire tourney, NBA players and all. I want to see the best teams battle it out, I want close games, I want passionate play. That's what we've seen and what we'll see in the final game as well.

  23. No disrespect, but I could not possibly disagree with you more. Seeing the same laundry that I don't care about spoiling the same fanbases year after year is just a waste of time. this year and last year I am actually interested.... if it is Kansas, Kentucky, unc, duke, or whatever, then so what. Seeing a truly happy and not an entitled fanbase win adds to the magic of the title game.

  25. The conference has a few new faces this year, and apparently CFN likes our coach the best according to this thread. I happen to agree with them, but I'd love to stack them from top to bottom and, of course, I'd love to see what you guys think, so here goes: 1. Dan McCarney - Serious skins on the wall and a shiny NC ring to show for it. No way this guy will get "out-coached" in the SBC. 2. Mario Cristobal - Probably the best up & coming coach in the league. He wont be at FIU for very much longer. 3. Rick Stockstill - Has his team at the top of the SBC every year. He consistently brings in good recruiting classes as well. 4. Larry Blakeney - He built Troy at the D1a level from a good foundation at D1aa level. Even though the way he gets his talent is shady, there's no denying he's one of the best in the league. Look at his team's record. 5. Howard Schnellenberger - Cant argue with this guy's credentials, but it does appear that the game is passing him by, or he is starting to not really care anymore. 6. Todd Berry - He's bounced around more than a pinball, but he does have some good head coaching experience. 7. Willie Taggart - Another up & coming coach starting at the bottom of the league. He should have WKU competing in short order. 8. Mark Hudspeth - He has some experience, but not alot at a high level 9. Hugh Freeze - This guy is raw. 10. Joey Jones - This guy is rawer, but there are no expectations on South Bama... yet.

  28. What has he done to not deserve a chance to run with the first team? I think many of you are reading too much into all of this. Outside of Chico and Nelson, this is an entirely new staff, so I would feel comfortable in stating that they are going to use these spring practices to see what they have at each position. I would expect a lot of different combinations all over the field, and then for the "starters" to shake out as spring practice wraps up in another couple of weeks. Besides, Chancellor is running with the second team while Outlaw is running first team with Stradford and Carey.

  29. Again, never letting facts stand in the way of the statements that you throw out. A car bomb does not go off in every neighborhood in Iraq every day. As a matter of fact, bombings are in steep decline in Iraq as the country becomes a more stabile democracy (yes, still a long way to go). I bet you a poll would show that the Iraqi citizens are much happier now than under Sadam's rule. To credit Egypt and Tanzania with the uprising in Lybia, but not credit Iraq for having the same effect on Eygpt and Tanzania is just disingenuous. Yes, the US helped establish the democracy in Iraq, but don't you think the rebels in Lybia and Syria want the same thing from us now? Is it your position that the Iraqi people were happy living under Sadam's rule? Did they not want their freedom? Like I said, who knows what form of government will come to be in these nations. But if there is a true desire for democracy, you can thank the US forces that worked so hard to help Iraq establish the 1st such Muslim based democracy in the region.

  32. These morons don't understand that they can make some good, extra cash on the weekends that they should, but won't, report to the IRS. It's not like the IRS is going to come knock on their door and say: "Hey, I know you parked six cars per game at $20 per car for six games. But, you didn't file that $720 on your last return, you heinous, chickenfart of a tax-dodger!" These numbnuts could be piking in some extra cash just for being nice to people who are spending money in their city and helping their tax base. But, instead, they are choosing to be General Custard's dead anus about the whole situation. It's stupid and unnecessary. I've never seen anything like it. You go to a game at OU, TCU, the Cotton Bowl, etc., and people are in their yards begging you to park there. Monkeys play with their own dingdongs. That's all this is: Like watching monkeys at the zoo playing with their own dingdongs just because they can. Well, so what, monkeys of Denia? Everybody who isn't female can play with their own dingdongs, too. That doesn't mean you have to do it front of everyone publicly. Put it back in your pants and let people drive and park in your neighborhood six weekends a year.

  33. Glad to do it. Really, the thanks goes to my bride...she loves little kids and decided to buy several of the basketballs to give to the "little ones" who might show up to watch Dad play. I'll show her your post. It will make her day! Appreciate you being there and supporting the game and the Cheer Squad. Maybe next year we can have the event at your shop...who knows. Thanks for the support and the kind words. GO MEAN GREEN! Mark

  35. The thing is, the one thing all of these uprisings have in common is (again, if you believe the organizers of the uprisings) democracy. It is not a coincidence that once Iraq proved that a democracy could flourish (albeit at a fledging stage), other citizens of the region would want the same form of government, especially considering the history of oppession in that area of the world. You say 6 years is a long time? I say 6 years is a blip on the history screen considering the long history of that region of the world. Once the people 1) saw the benefits of democracy, and 2) believed it was possible for a democracy to succeed in their country, then and only then did they decide they were willing to make the sacrafice to fight for what they wanted. Frankly, I'm surprised it happened this soon. Again, this is assuming they aren't just saying they want democracy to get the help of the West, only to decide that a different form of government (religious theocracy, their own form of dictatorship, etc..) is what they want once the current leadership is deposed. Only time will tell, but if new democracies spring up in this region, you would be naive to dismiss the Iraqi effect.

  36. Kram, I can't say thank you enough for the basketball you gave my son. He hasn't put it down yet. In fact he came and played all night with it cuz it fit into his fisher price hoop. In fact he took it to bed with him. Also today while I was at work I got a call from the wife saying that when she turned on the unc/Kentucky game little Kyle was pointing at the players on tv and asking where's "DaDa"? Again thank you so much for the opportunity to be involved.

  37. Technically, the rebels started it, not Momar. The Rebels started it because (if you believe what they say) they want democracy. They wouldn't want democracy if they had not seen it was possible in Iraq. So, even though you say this is nothing like Iraq, this (and all the other middle east uprisings) would not have happened wothout the democracy in Iraq, which obviously wouldn't have happen without US intervention. Whether or not this is a good thing or a bad thing, time will tell.

  38. Makes it even sweeter that VCU has beaten USC (Pac10), Goergetown (Big East), Purdue (Big Ten), Florida St (ACC), and now Kansas (Big12-2). 5 of the Big 6 conferences. Maybe they can take out Kentuky in the final for a clean sweep.

  41. Dude, the guys at the Denton post office are actually pretty knowledgeable. I don't know who you see for your post office questions, but these guys are generally awesome. There's two kinds of socialism here. You have the police/fire/armed forces/libraries/public universities like our University of North Texas kind of socialism. And then you have the der komissar/shoot you to death as you cross the wire fence/KGB/komrade Stolichczny kind of socialism. Last I checked, we have the first, and it's pretty limited to just that kind of socialism. No one is coming to my apartment asking me questions about things my neighbors have said about the current administration. I'm not being interrogated for fraternizing with the west. I think we're okay.
