A loser is a person who who can't spell and post on the internet "loose lose". A winner is a person who gets a brand new softball facility built, locker rooms remodeled in the pit, dedicated court for volleyball, academic center for athletes, oh wait, A BRAND SPANKING NEW FOOTBALL STADIUM. I have never thought that R.V was an "idiot". If you think that Dr. B. did not have her hands on this sweet deal that Shanice got, you are crazy.8 points

Dude, don't you realize how posh a lifestyle those in the education field live? Don't you watch the news?5 points

I usually don't get to jazzed about women's basketball, but it is nice to see UNT acting like a major university and buying out the contract of a coach that has horribly underperformed. Hopefully, the days of acting like a small time college are behind us.3 points

houston, have you ever had to look someone in the eye tell them they are fired? Sure, she will still get some $$ out of UNT, but her family will be uprooted. She gave ample evidence that she needed to be fired, but I would like to think the RV took his time and carefully made the decision before delivering the news. What should RV have said, 'this is the easiest decision I've ever made, and I told her not to let the door hit her on the way out'? I have taken my share of pot shots at Stephens and even I wouldn't have said anything remarkably different to the public if it were my job to hold the presser. I hoped she would work out and follow the Johns fine examples. Instead she became a running joke that needed to go. That doesn’t mean RV shouldn’t be respectful about the decision in public.3 points

HOF? P.S. You forgot a very nice field for women's soccer and upgrades to make Fouts at least bearable.3 points

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that the gentleman was responding to the very first post of the thread. TXST@SM was listed as the second school right after Tulsa. The guy is just letting us know that they already have a schedule in place...3 points

I went into a guy's home the other day and he was talking about how his kids are the best kids and not acknowledging my kids at all, so I punched him in the face.3 points

I find it funny how we're ripping another schools poster for posting on our site when we have a whole boatload of people here who do the same exact thing. Also, i find it ironic how we hate it when people call us NTSU, but then we turn around and do the same thing to other schools...2 points

Have we worked up a matrix of her free periods and whether she works A or D lunch? I'd hate to miss the opportunity to talk live while Texas or Houston have her on the phone. I know she's popular with a group of folks and I respect what she did at UTA, but being the better choice than what we had shouldn't be the only qualification.2 points

Didn't mean to be rude, but what is the purpose of a TSU-SM fan posting their schedule on a thread about NT's schedule. Maybe they should post it on their "Texas Twins" site.1 point

That is good to know, but nonetheless it was on RV's watch. Wish Stephens luck as well and hope UNT can get it right this time.1 point

I think I posted this once before but we actually told this guy "No". (We wanted a female coach) http://www.aggieathletics.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/blair_gary00.html1 point

They remind me of wrestling interviews. I see nothing wrong with them. They even have nice wrestler handles: The Texas Twins. "Let me tell you something, brotherrr When The Texas Twins get to the WAC we are gonna tear it up. Fresno! I'm talking to you brotherr. Just remember the WAC is being reinvented -- -TEXAS STYLE!! I know... How are we going to get there? Well, I had an idea. If conferences like the Big East can hold off on expanding for a few years, we might have a shot at jumping to the front of the line for a C-USA invite. McCarney was brought here to turn this program into a consistent winner. I truly beleive that within a few seasons this program will consistently be at the top of the Sun Belt. That alone is not enough to get us into C-USA. History has proven that winning in the Sun Belt and losing OOC games won't get us anywhere. We all know that we have to win the OOC games too. But, there is one future OOC opponent in particular that we must beat everytime we play them. As hard as it is for me to write this, we need SMU to consistantly be the best team in C-USA by the time we start playing them in 2014, and them beat the snot out of them every time we play. For McCarney to design a team that can dominate the Belt is our first priority, but after that goal is realized, he must taylor the Mean Green to specifically dismantle the June Jones Run and Shoot. With what SMU is paying him I can't see a major program stealing him away. If North Texas and SMU are the top teams in their conferences and we dominate them in both 2014 and 2015, I think our long awaited invite will show up. A top 25 ranking too. The logic is simple. C-USA won't tolerate their best team consistently losing to the Sun Belt's best team. I just don't know if the Big East will wait 5 more years before expanding again.1 point

You could probably get a lot of people (including myself) to up their donation if Josh White hammers on UNT90 for not being a pure "1" every time he touches the ball.1 point
-
UPDATE: Josh White has agreed to be one of our referees for the game! That gives us a CONFIRMED referee team of: Raquel Cuffie Shannon Shorter and Josh White. How much fun is that going to be, right? Worth the price of the free admission just to come watch! Better still...how about making a donation, large or small, to the event to help out the UNT Cheer Squad? All support welcome...and speaking of support, we have the following fine Denton area firms signed up as sponsors of the event so far. The Cheer Squad has been out asking for sponsors and are seeing some nice results; Fast Signs Voertman's Campus Book Chicken Express And, our title sponsor METZLER's BBQ! More to come. Please thank these local merchants by stopping by and letting them know you appreciate their support for UNT and this event! GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

Two updates to report. I believe we have found a title sponsor and location for our after game party...METZLER'S BBQ has shown interest in helping us out! That's great news and I'll be talking more with them soon. That would give us their place as the site for our after party...nice! Good BBQ and cold beer! Secondly...I think...think...I have secured the services of TONY MITCHELL to be our third referee. I'll confirm both of these as we move along, but it does just keep getting better for this event. The support we are getting from the Athletic Dept (big help with the title sponsor and facilities, etc.), the business community in Denton (Metzler's BBQ), Terri Cuffie (helping with our referees and adding a player for us), and from many generous GMG.com supporters with their agreement to play in the game (without them none of this happens), and from the many other generous GMG.com donors has been fantastic so far, and I suspect will get even better as we move forward. We do need that PayPal site balance to start moving to the right again...we are stuck on $90 for our $500 goal. If you can help...even with $5 it would help a great deal. Come out of the 26th of March and be part of the fun. I think you will enjoy yourself while helping to support the UNT Cheer Squad! GO MEAN GREEN! GO GMG.COM CLASSIC BASKETBALL GAME!!!!1 point

This cinches it. Forget CUSA. We need to get into the SEC. They've managed to turn this board into a bunch of tree-huggers. That kind of power is not to be taken lightly.1 point

I don't think Radio is disputing that it is criminal behavior. As a friend of mine said:1 point

Radio, do you own a car, a house, a tree, or have any money ? If so, and one of the above were destroyed, what punishment, if any, would you deem appropriate for the person or persons that commited the deed ? And is a healthy 130 year old tree worth any more money in terms of replacement cost, than a 5 year old tree ?1 point

you're right, he should be punished, i agree totally with that! what he did was stupid, i just don't see what the big deal is.1 point

Funny man. Forgive me if I just won't take someone's word that they have seen boards giving the same value to a traffic ticket as a felony arrest in a number of police departments without them naming the departments.1 point

Well, guess I won't have the pleasure since I live over 400 miles away and won't be attending.1 point

You made the allegations on a public forum so why the reluctance to back up your claims ? You are posting using a "handle".1 point

You are absolutely sure and say some depaertments count a traffic ticket and self initiated felony arrest as equal. NAME TWO DEPARTMENTS THAT YOU KNOW HAVE THIS POLICY PLEASE.1 point

---There are good quarterbacks and bad quaterbacks... same with the police... A relative of mine who worked for a county law enforcement agency near here said he knew some who 'delighted" in giving tickets to people who were not residents and would let locals go for the same or worse "crimes". A friend of my son ( a cop) has pretty much said the same about speeding .. he often ignores it if slightly over limit and driving safely (for more important matters) while others would run them down and issue a ticket. A problem here are so many going through lights turning red. A neighbor was run over while on a motorcycle by one of these. ---I guess you are implying in cold weather they don't want to get out of their car to give a ticket ... unlike in warm weather when they will. ---Sometimes speed limits/traffic signs make zero sense and some are a total surprise. 3-4 years ago they changed an intersection near my house into a four way stop.. Two days later a cop was sitting there writing tickets left and right.... Probably most cars had driven through it for years with no stop sign on their side... Seemed like a bit of a cheap shot to me. One street had about zero traffic from one side (only one house on it before it went to a dead end).1 point

Back before they all had nothing to do with the Stephens' hire: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/drc/sports/stories/DRC_Vito_Column_0418.74c87134.html0 points

This past football season, a good friend asked RV about Stephens. His first response was that Bataille demanded that the new women's b-ball coach be a woman. So my friend then says, "Well why didn't you hire Donna Capps?" RV says "you wouldn't believe the demands that Capps made." Really? Capps was an administrator for the Mesquite ISD. Demands? Anyway, if Stephens was forced on RV....why wasn't that the first thing he said. They really should get one story and stick to it. I guess they think we're idiots.0 points

This is good news for the team. I had head that up to 8 players were thinking of leaving the team if Coach Stephens remained the HC. Like Matt said...every time I spoke with Coach Stephens she was very nice, but she was definitely in over her head with he first HC job here at UNT. I wish her well and hope that her experience here will be a learning one for her in her next job. BUT, this is a move that really did need to be made at this time and RV once again stepped up and did what he had to do for the players on the team and for the athletic program at UNT. Thank you RV. I wish Coach Stephens well, and I am now anxious to see who UNT gets to be the next HC. If it is anywhere near as good as the selection of Dan McCarney and Coach Chico to lead the football program we are in for a real positive move for the ladies! WOW...great news. It';s a great GREEN DAY at UNT. Time to celebrate the green. By this I do not mean to dance on Coach Stephens misfortune, but I am very excited to see that the ladies will be getting a new HC and can move forward from here.....GO MEAN GREEN! GREAT NEWS!0 points

interested to see how this will play out. This is RV's 2nd Straight major sport coach failure. Will Rawlins take control of this next hire? Do we have Donna Capps on speed dial?0 points
