Some people have no respect for the history and traditions of human communication. I mean, come on - without the telegraph where would we be today? At one point people used 3 fingers to type their morse-code? EVERYONE KNOWS THE PROPER MANNER IS USING 2 INDEX FINGERS AND AN ALTERNATING RING FINGER?2 points

We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. This game will bother the hell out of these guys (and us) for the rest of their (our) lives. We know it, they know it. It wasn't just another game. To be honest, I'll be over it in the morning but I digress. Not really. Best of luck to the Trojans in the play-in game. Imagine this in my best Will Farrell voice...Bitter, bitter, bitter. Hate you Trojans, till the morning - then good luck....in the freaking play-in game you a-holes. You better freaking win the play in games chumps! You are such a bunch of a-holes! Sincerely, Hater of UALR - ever since a big white UALR player grabbed his junk after a close victory against the Mean Green in Denton screaming "we own you" back in 2005 or so. P.S. We need to kick them out of the conference for this, since they don't have football.1 point

Disclaimer: I hate blaming the refs, If you play the game right the refs won't have an opportunity to screw you. However, there is a difference in no-calls and fictional calls. we were victim of both. Being a cheerleader, I have sat baseline under the basket for the last five season. In all those games I would see about 0 to 2 missed calls every game, nothing really crucial or blatant, just little things that happened where I had a better angle or the ref was watching something else. In all 4 games we played this weekend that number jumped to about 5 to 10 per game. At one point in the second half of the final, I sat and counted on my finger for the ref to see, three missed calls on the three shots on in about 6 seconds total. The least blatant, but still a no call, was of course the illegal screen that cut our lead to 1. There were also several UALR slanted calls in their semi-final game against MTSU. Either the Sun Belt has a pro-UALR/anti-UNT conspiracy or the Sun Belt need to hire major-conference refs for the tourney. GMG.1 point

Actually the refs did have something to do with the loss. NT should not use the refs as an excuse for the loss as it should not have come down to a couple of calls or non-calls. However, the refs play a part in every game, in this game they seemed to be determined to let them play far more than the norm for a Belt game. The referees to a large extent dictated the pace of the game. Particularly in the first half, Thompson was mugged several times going to the basket without a call. He would have had a lot more free throws if the game was called like the rest of the tournament. I actually prefer they let them play more, but to state the officiating had nothing to to do with the results is just wrong. Teams should adjust to the officiating but bad calls such their failure to call Bozeman pancake block definitely have an impact on the results. You don't think that if that had been called and the three waved off and NT getting free shots wouldn't have changed the game?1 point

Cool video, but the band (George Mason's Green Machine that wears yellow) isn't that good.1 point

I disagree. They did have something to do with the loss. Could we have made them irrelevant, yes. We didn't and they screwed us over. Our lack of a killer instinct does not absolve them of gross incompetence. Also, I will be bitter about this for a very long time and will probably use this as heckle ammunition next year when the thugs from Little Rock visit the Pit. I am a fan, as in fanatic. I can be fanatical about the teams I support. This includes grudge holding, for decades or longer sometimes. Your mileage may vary.1 point

Sheesh! If UALR missed and we won, we wouldn't be talking about this (refs), we wouldn't be over-nitpicking JJ's defense at the end, TT would be MVP and we would be heralding Josh's heroics with 1.5 seconds left. It's amazing!1 point

This self imposed probation very well could derail the Pony Express' drive to a national championship in 2014. Also, it could really impact attendance. The numbers could plummet from the 500 person fan base to a mere dozen. Anyway, it's SMU, so who cares.1 point

While you may have a valid point here, self pity never gets the girl or the plus 1s. Did I really just reference that useless feature? Kill me.1 point

Wow. Just..... wow. I don't pop in around here very often, but MY GOODNESS the natives get restless after a few years of crappy football! FFR, I love ya brotha, but could I interest you in a bottle of kelly green Lexapro? As stated earlier, can we please just start winning some d*$m football games?!? That would make the worst of logos look SUHWEETT!!!1 point

Looks like pretty good stuff to me. I cannot wait to see this thing come together. Wow, just fantastic stuff. I had several people recognize my UNT gear at Hot Springs come up to me and mention our new stadium. At the Alumni breakfast on Sunday morning (excellent food btw) we had people coming to our Alumni Association booth to check out the photos and drawings we had on display. Every comment was in the range from "great to awesome", and this was coming from our fellow Sun Belt school's alumni and administrators. Also...you would have been proud of YOUR Alumni Association...by far the best Alumni/school booth at the event that morning! Well done!1 point

I'm all for it. I think the whole old Southland should be div 1 in football. La Tech, UNT, ULL and ULM already are. UTSA and TSSM have already announced. Lamar has reestablished football. Rumblings about UTA, SHSU and SFU moving up. McNeese can't be far behind. Of course, Texas football will continue to be weakened below the AQ level as more and more teams recruit to the division 1 level. Also as more lower level teams are added to the mix, the likelihood of another split in D1 is more likely. I don't blame any school for their ambitions, if I was an alum of those universities; I would be all for the move. The reality is that in the long run, it won't be a good thing for NT and I believe Texas football in general. It is imperative for NT to continue to distance themselves from these start ups.1 point

Wow, I didn't get to watch a lot of games this season unfortunately, but I was not impressed with Jones's game management towards the end. When the bright lights were on, the crowd was loud, and things were hectic...our guys looked completely lost. Did UALR's scrambling have something to do with our mistakes down the stretch? I think so, but we looked completely scattered and frantic. It took Tristan missing a FT, an illegal screen which led to a 3, and a push off which led to another 3 for these guys to get the win...maybe it was just their year.1 point

The alumni logo is weak-sauce. It's a hundred other college/high school logos with a star over it. It would be one thing if it existed as the school's logo for a hundred years, but it hasn't. And I'm no fan of the current eagle logos, either, but I'll take them 100 times over the interlocked-N/T/star. Blech. Thanks to this thread, I now know that the reason fans from other schools make fun of us is NOT because we historically stink at football and that they've barely heard of us. It's because we don't do a proper eagle claw.1 point

I like the basketball pep band. I'll have to give them each an encouraging hug in Hot Springs if people don't stop saying such hurtful things.1 point

And incase I didn't get to thank you and all the other NT alumn who supported me and the team and university, thank you so much. I love North Texas and will defend it at all costs. It is a part of me and I will always be a part of it. I shed blood for this university in the past and I still bleed green today. I love all of you and I love the Mean Green. My period of life in Denton was one of my life's most important, and I will help alumni and the university whenever I get a chance. Thank you all. Blake Burruss1 point

What do you like about UNT? Our Talons can't manage to take care of a cannon or bell. Our shade of green looks like vomit. Our branding/logos are nowhere near up to snuff. We're not using the AC deck the way we should. The pricing of club level seats in the new stadium blows. We don't demand enough of our basketball program. Our Alumni Association listens not to our most important fans opinions. I'm sure I'm leaving more out, but how could anyone care for a university that can't get a single thing right? Edit: We also don't have a good chant for use at football games. We can't figure out how to make out hands look the most like an eagles foot.1 point

Sun Belt officials are the worst in the country...but at least in this game it was because of no calls as opposed to over-officiating. Refs had nothing to do with the loss though. Move on.0 points

What does it matter? The guys who play for SMU are living such rockstar, warlock, tiger-blood drinking lifestyles that they will be winning* no matter what sanctions are put on them. They just wont be winning any basketball games. #WINNING!* I wonder if they will allow kids to get out of their LOIs? Cunningham would look nice in Green. *winning = delusional.0 points

As much as some may disagree, this is a form of stealing and it is clearly illegal. It is an infringement of intellectual property rights among other things. The guy obviously knew he was in the wrong or he would not have tried to "cover his tracks". Folks, you may not be aware or you may not care, but this type of activity is really hurting legitimate artists and legitimate businesses. I know lots of people think this thing is fun because they are getting away with something for "free" that they should rightfully be paying for when used, but that is the heart of the problem. This was not a victimless crime, and whether or not you like the idea of "big corporations" wrong is wrong. If you don't think the law is just, work within the system to change it. Until then, try not to be part of the problem. Stealing is stealing any way you want to cut it, and any person of even normal levels of intelligence knows it as such. Now, does the arrest, etc. fit the crime? Maybe, maybe not, but I can tell you from the research and policy work that we do here at IPI on Intellectual property and Intellectual property rights...IT IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM and it actually does financially hurt a lot of people...even people not associated with those big corporations some folks like to see as the root of all evil in the world. My guess, if the programs being downloaded and songs being downloaded "free" were yours and it was a part of the work you did to support your family, you would see it in a bit of a different light. This sort of thing has put many people out of work, cost untold millions in lost tax revenues, etc., etc. That may not be a popular fact with some folks, but is happens to be the truth. Please think about it the next time you or someone you know downloads a "free" song, movie, tv program, etc., etc. that they have obtained in such a manner. It's all part of a much bigger problem, not the laest of which is simple lack of honesty.0 points

At UTA the question is, were the ballot printed in enough languages for the students to understand what they were voting for or against?0 points
