  1. Rick really needs to travel back in time to a place where he can be happy. So tired of reading complaints about this and that and how much better things used to be. By the way, the kelly green looks so much better than the forest green. We looked great on tv last year.

  2. What do you like about UNT? Our Talons can't manage to take care of a cannon or bell. Our shade of green looks like vomit. Our branding/logos are nowhere near up to snuff. We're not using the AC deck the way we should. The pricing of club level seats in the new stadium blows. We don't demand enough of our basketball program. Our Alumni Association listens not to our most important fans opinions. I'm sure I'm leaving more out, but how could anyone care for a university that can't get a single thing right? Edit: We also don't have a good chant for use at football games. We can't figure out how to make out hands look the most like an eagles foot.

  3. Right, because we have built a strong brand that everyone knows and respects, so why would we do this?

  4. My guess is the best chants are started by the fans: at first a small, loyal and well coordinated effort that is persistent. If we're winning, and the surrounding fans can catch on and have a good time with it, it will become a mainstay. Word of mouth takes care of the rest. Perennially losing and having small crowds really is the chant killjoy.

  5. You know what's in California? The entertainment industry. Know who runs the entertainment industry? Oh, you know. Sure you do. It's allllll coming together..... p.s.: My Fokker gets so so mileage, but it still looks brand new!

  6. This is going to be great. My hope is that everyone builds up insane standards for this initiative, takes out 50 years of rage and frustration on any effort that's a part of it, and whines and bitches about everything and anything they think might possibly be connected to the project. If Dan McCarney won't take you out to lunch, blame this. If Wal Mart has any TCU shirts in stock, blame this. If UT-Arlington has a billboard along your route to work, blame this. If squirrels are getting into your bird feeder, blame this. I want this to be like the men's basketball meltdown bitch-a-thon, only 100x more angry, intense, and mentally handicapped. Remember- Hayden Fry didn't need no PR assistance! MORE POSTERS!!!!!

  7. Well, with the loss tonight, North Texas is no longer in bye contention. The highest seed that North Texas will be able to get is the W4 seed. The W5 seed (the current seed) is also a possibility. If we win out, we get the W4 seed. If we do not, we get the W5 seed. Unfortunately that is the situation we are in. We will be playing a first round game against either USA or Troy. USA will hold the tiebreak over Troy if both finish the season on the same record (they are both currently (6-9). If we end with the W4 seed, FAU will be waiting in the quarterfinal for us. If we get the W5 seed, it will be Denver, ULL, or ASU. ASU will win the West with a victory over UALR Saturday, and my gut feeling says that would be the best for us. Here is what the bracket looks like going into Saturday...by the way, the E2 spot will be decided by the game between WKU/MTSU on Saturday; winner takes it. The teams in red are locked into their seeds. I really, really wish I had better news, but we are going to have to win 4 in 4 days. I'm sure some people will say that can't happen, but I really don't have it in me to give up on these guys until the final buzzer in Hot Springs. For what it's worth, I think the W5 seed is much better, but who knows.

  14. You are clearly just an OTI. If you were an OTVIII like myself, you would easily see the truth before you. The lib agenda of the lame-stream media is just a red-herring to keep us unaware of the greater, larger conspiracy. It's a front for the real threat, and it's right under our noses. Time to go to the chalk-board folks. Keep up: 'Liberal' spelled backwards is 'Larebil.' Get it? No? Code. It's all code to deceive us. Follow. Larebil can be broken into three independent syllabic units. La, re, bil. Get it now? Come on. It's so obvious people. Ok. Think acronyms (units of linguistic information compressed into graphic shorthand [for ease of communication or deception? you decide]). LA RE bil (Ok. This is how dang clever they are. Instead of using the acronym BC, they mixed it up and just chopped off the final 'l' just to throw us off their trail. This conspiracy is so deep, so well thought out, we don't stand a chance.) This is the true axis of evil folks, the mother of all intergalactic Triumvirates. And it's right there in front of us. And while I'm busy exposing this crass cabal of nefarious nabobs, could I talk you into buying some gold?

  15. It also gives the team a couple more days to practice, and a chance to watch the next opponent on tv, before the first game in our new stadium.

  16. Agree 100%. The kelly green looks great and shows up quite well on TV. It may not be perfect, but the "Sink Navy" shirt shown and dismissed as an imperfect example was printed on what was said to be the exact approved green shade at the time. If it wasn't perfect, it was as close as we could get. And, through that effort several students received scholarships to continue their education at UNT. It's a little sad for me to see those who support UNT to keep knocking people who get off their rear ends and try to do things to help. Volunteers are just that...volunteers, who give up a lot of their free time and money to help a cause they believe in...like UNT. What they do may not be perfect in every one's eyes, but no volunteer that I have ever worked with EVER sets out to do anything but help by giving of their time, talent and treasure. BTW...new volunteers are always welcome. You too can become known as one of the "he or she's who will be blamed". Ha! Really, what you will get out of it is a lot of new and wonderful friendships and the knowledge that you have helped by being part of the solution. Pass it forward.....

  17. I feel the exact opposite SBG, but am a huge fan of the green we have worn the last few years. My understanding was that this is the correct shade of Kelly Green.

  18. Folks, Saturday's game against Denver is Senior Night and the last home game for our seniors, both men and women...On the men's side we say goodbye and well done to: Dominique Johnson George Odufuwa Shannon Shorter Camerson Spencer Triston Thompson, and Josh White. For the ladies, I believe the only senior to be playing her last game is; Denetra Kellum. Let's pack the Super Pit Saturday to say good-bye and "thanks" to OUR seniors. They are definitely OUR seniors and have represented us very well as well as being great ambassadors for UNT in general. I hope the students turn out in a big way to send their fellow student-athletes off to the Sunbelt Tournament on a high note. having a big turnout of their fellow students would mean a great deal to these seniors as well as seeing a BIG alumni and fan base filling the seats in the Super Pit! Please do what you can to be in attendance Saturday. GO MEAN GREEN...Congrats to all our seniors! Well done. BEAT DENVER!

  19. The whole point of bringing a 3rd party in for something this is to inject fresh ideas. Saying we could improve upon the marketing message and then saying "we don't need no stinkin' PR firm" to do it looks to me like the definition of insanity. The RFP mentions a lot more than just football -- like our goal of achieving Tier 1 status. I'm sure there are a lot more things in the RFP that were skimmed over.

  21. I also remember UNT passing out free Mean Green flip flops one year. They went like hot cakes. Would anyone have paid money for them? Doubt it. Forgive me for believing that those who want more alumni logo (and forest green) have no clue.

  22. I didn't like how our uniforms looked like SLC's either, but they weren't amateurish. They were better than what we wore in the early 2000s and 1990s. Can't wait to see what design the coaches come up with this time around though!

  24. I am just wondering if Boone Pickens has a point that this great nation of ours may well go down as one of the stupidest in history. here we sit on huge natural gas and oil reserves and we continue to be held hostage by our stated enemies and some so-called friends in the Middle East while we fight a war on two fronts and pay for it all. Good grief. The US and Canada have more oil and gas reserves than necessary to get the US off the Middle Eastern tit when it comes to oil imports. Every administration I can recall since Truman claimed to have oil independence as a goal. In recent years the goal has been stated stronger and stronger, yet little to no progress is being made due to neglect, special interest groups and administrations (both democrat and republican) who actually want to do what it takes to get the job done. Can they even spell nuclear power? Every time the price of oil declines a little the American public "puts the peddle to the metal" and drive along their merry way, and the politicians go back to sleep on this strategic and vital issue. Then some numb nuts in the Middle East does something or doesn't do something and the price of oil spikes and everyone goes nuts again and yells and screams for energy independence. Unfortunately, this time will probably be no different. Promises will be made and pledges will be touted around in campaign slogans, but it will, unfortunately, stop there. Yes, Bonne may just be right....The US might just be the stupidest nation on the face of the earth when it comes to this situation. In the words of the immortal Charlie Brown, ""good grief".

  25. What's wrong with an open discussion about what Rick is implying? What's wrong with an open discussion about what the alumni association is or isn't doing that has been off-putting to many people? We openly discuss the warts of our University in regards to it's athletic programs (mainly football) why is the UNT exes exempt?
    2 points
  26. OK, your reading comprehension on what this - and isn't - is not very good. Nothing against any of your ideas, I just think you're yelling at the Chevy plant guys because your Ford broke down. Does this makes us enemies? Is this your unofficial RFP for therapy? Where do I bid?

  27. I certainly don't turn my nose up at 20 win seasons, but looking at our schedule to start the year, 20 years should have been easily reached, but 20 wins shouldn't be our goal each year. Our goals should be to win conference, win the conference tournament and make some noise in the NCAA tournament. Those should be our goals every year, and if they were, 20 wins would take care of itself. I hate to repeat myself, but this team has won all the games it will win this year, but I couldn't agree with KRAM1 more about showing up to thank the seniors on this team for what they have done for this program. Without their success we would have never realized a recruiting class like the one just signed.

  28. My dream also included an alumni association that was so well attended(because it operated on the premise that it existed for the alumni and what they want, not what a few individuals who run a booth want) that it actually had some say in how certain aspects of the university and it's athletics operated like most alumni associations of major universities do. 31. That's not the only reason. Don't lie. Public records and newspaper archives are available online. You know what I'm talking about. The DUI? The vehicular manslaughter charges? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that you had a good lawyer, Courtland. But dismissing charges is not the same thing as erasing facts from the history books. Don't take my word for it... Ask the little girl that's had to grow up in an orphanage. If you can even find the courage to look her in the face, that is.

  34. Maintaining the 20 win streak, as much as people may turn up their noses at it, is valuable. And, considering where we are at this point in the year... It's a viable goal. I sure didn't think I'd say this when we were 13-2, but I think a 20 win season would be a pretty respectable finish for us this year. I'd hate to see that streak end.

  41. If they were TRULY serious about this, they'd dig up Edward Bernays and call it a day. In all seriousness, I think we still have a few posters with Blackie Sherrod, Joe Bob Briggs and Skip Bayless at the top of an old Rolodex. Maybe we could pull together a GMG-backed official response.

  42. Here is the bracket heading into tonight. We have the possibility of being seeded anywhere from W2-W5. If we get seeded W2 (the least likely) we will play the winner of ULM and WKU/MTSU. If we do not get a bye, our first round opponent will likely be either Troy, USA, or FIU, although if WKU collapses late, they could be a first round opponent as well. The teams in Red are locked into their seed. In my opinion, the W5 seed has the easiest path of any non-bye seed right now.

  48. ****UPDATE**** With the pretty much shocking loss by Denver to USA earlier, the scenarios have become even simpler. Regardless of what happens in the Denver/ULL game, our hopes for a bye will continue to Saturday (unless we lose @ASU). Obviously, these scenarios assume that we have won out and we end with a conference record of 9-7. Here are the two scenarios split by the result of the DEN/ULL game. Scenario 1: IF Denver loses to ULL on Thursday, we receive a bye if we win out, AND UALR wins @ Arkansas State on Saturday Scenario 2: IF Denver defeats ULL on Thursday, we get a bye if we win out and these two things happen....1) ULM defeats ULL on Saturday AND 2) UALR defeats Arkansas State on Saturday.
