  2. It's pretty common outside of athletics also. My wife's friends said her IQ dropped at least 20 points; 10 the moment she said yes to my proposal and another 10 when she said "I Do!" It all works out in the end.

  3. The schedule got a little messed up this year because things shifted around so the UNT @ WKU could be on national TV. We were originally scheduled to play WKU on the same trip as the MTSU game I believe. What is super messed up is that this will be the THIRD year in a row that we have to play @ WKU. EDIT: Another thing the SBC is terrible at is seeding basketball tournaments. Hopefully this year with the simplified format they can manage to follow their own rules.

  7. Don't think Johnny Jones was planning on not having Alzee and Cam sitting out all season. Those guys saw a decent amount of minutes last season.

  8. Appreciate the honest replys. Am i glad that JJ has raised the program to where a 16-7 record somehow seems a little disappointing? Absolutely. Like i've posted in years before, i was just hoping for that one 24-4 season where we get an #12 seed or better and have a team ready to make some real noise. Just one, pleasse. Those are lofty expectations i know but this was the year i thought that was possible. Year is definitely not over, but somehow feels a little disappointing considering it's these guys last run. Hope they can turn it around. Not the BBall fan you guys are but these losses to ULL, Troy, and Denver kill me.

  10. I'm just glad that a 3 game losing streak and a bad run in conference has served as a rallying point for people who don't usually seem to give much of a damn about basketball to come and complain about what a disappointment the team is. At least our recent misery can bring people together.

  12. True. All true. Two ACU Wildcats started for the Chicago Bears - Johnny Knox and Danieal Manning. Also, these two "small college" players were pretty good in the NFL for not having played "major college" ball - Jerry Rice and Walter Payton. It's all a matter of grades and tests in most cases. Kids just don't take the tests in time to have their scores back, or their scores aren't there. Doesn't mean they aren't talented. Most just aren't getting a push at home - and, there are a myriad of factors there we won't go into here.

  14. NO. It can only be replaced by a bigger road win...which has not happened. (Well, technically it did happen in 1988 in Austin.)

  16. 2 conference USA schools, a Big Ten school and an SEC school. That's a tremendous job on Rick's behalf. I think this is a great schedule and having Houston and IU as our 2 OOC home games was tremendous as well. Opening the season with Houston and our stadium opener is a calculated risk that I hope pays off for us. We'll have an extra week of preparation on Houston, as they open up on the 3rd against UCLA at home. Interesting to look at some of the future schedules as well: 2014: At Texas wk 1, home against SMU wk 2, and then at Army unscheduled and Home against Tulsa unscheduled. That could be an interesting yr to say the least.

  17. Because its an enormous pain in the ass just getting to and from work this last week, I didn't feel like taking the 4 hour round-trip journey to get to Denton.

  19. http://www.northtexassuperbowl.com/denton The link somewhat says it all. Denton, Texas, USA, is one of the North Texas Super Bowl host cities. Wonder if we can get MWC Commish's Thompson to come spend a couple days with our UNT leaders sometimes this week? HINT! HINT! HINT!

  20. Those of us who did not drink Dodge cool-aid did NOT think his first class was all that good. It fact many of us thought it was the obvious disaster it was bound to be when he delayed taking the job for a month. One of the worst decisions ever by an incoming North Texas coach and symptomatic of what was to occur. Not everyone was on that bandwagon at all.

  23. Boise State played a 13 game schedule in 2009, including 1 FCS school: Boise State 2009 Schedule I think the bigger problem is how hyped the Houston game has been. To add an FCS game in front of it would just be kind of a strange thing to do at this point in my opinion.

  26. Also, getting back to the original post that started the thread... I don't like a 9 player roster, and I don't like having to play guys as long as we do. But the team that looked more "gassed" last night was FAU. Whenever we pushed the tempo, we outplayed them. I was grinding my teeth when extended foul/inbounds delays took us out of the rhythm we were establishing. I wish we would make more use of the "white press" that allowed us to pull out one or two games earlier this season where a rally couldn't have happened otherwise. Having a healthy Alzee might allow us to go to that earlier in the game when we need it.

  27. And hopefully we will not schedule the same kind of OOC schools at our new stadium as we did at Fouts. I think that would create a groundswell of attitudes such as: "Why did we spend $80,000,000 if we bring to Denton the same type of schools we did at Fouts Field?" Moral of post: Wouldn't it be nice to see us have such huge wins at home for a change?
