I have it on VERY good authority that THE jarion henry will be a member of the Mean Green next year.9 points

Since it's a well know fact that every highly regarded recruit is a 100% sure thing super star... I believe they'll probably just take Knox out behind the barn with a shovel and put him down. Probably make Cam and Edwards watch so they'll get the message.5 points

Centennial in a laugher @ Naaman Forest HS! Actually, Naaman Forest went on a 17-0 run to start the 3rd quarter but could not get closer than 12 points of Centennial. Had an opportunity to see 6-10 junior center Prince Ebeh of Forest for the 2nd time. Being recruited by all the big guys in the 2012 class. I'm happy with our 6-10 Forrest. Quiet night for Chris Jones. Didn't look to score at all tonight but to possibly pad his area leading assist average of 7.1. Only had 3 with 2 minutes remaining (had to beat the traffic) Centennial was hitting all night but could not convert Chris' passes into assists. Unofficially, I had him with 8 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 fouls and 1 1/2 turnovers. Had the play of the game when he stole the ball, drove to his bucket (with a trailing defender; determined to block his layup) and posterized the kid with a monster dunk & one. In my view, solidified the starting point position next year. (pending eligibility) Outstanding night for Tech recruit Toddrick Gotcher. If Centennial does not go far in the playoffs it will be because of a very weak district schedule. Coach really believes in leaving his stars in the game despite most games being routs. Jones did have to leave the game early in the 3rd with a knee injury. Up by 22, coach put him back in the game with a noticeable limp. Was not nearly effective after that.2 points

I'm just so pleased that DISD does such a fantastic job of educating the youth that we don't have to worry about the kids who commit to us from one of their high schools.2 points

True. It wasn't my lineup that had him on the bench. I don't even try to speculate on such things... I just make spreadsheets...2 points

I'm sporting the Mean Green up here in northern Iowa... It's a good conversation starter for sure. Hawk fans remember the Hayden Fry connection, so i'm sure with Mac down there now you will have more than one Iowan (me) following the progress.2 points

Found this on the La Tech board and a funny post made by a fan. Cheerios came flying out! Hall of Fame worthy! Defensive Tackles Posted by DawgFight71- "It's cause kids in the South are out playing sports and eating red meat while most of the kids on the Left Coast are writing poetry about saving the environment and eating stuff made out of tofu." Edited: That laughing thingy was annoying!1 point

The announcer is terrible and annoyingly biased. He also does not turn off his microphone during breaks. SCRUB1 point

To me it sounds like it but you never know its just hs kids talking, you wont know until he signs the papers. One can just hope for now From what I know about Jarion is that his grades arnt up to par with the other schools. Unt is on his list, Shawn has been talking to him and Jordan the whole time. Jarion was at the Tech game with Jordan and was really impressed with the program. He said that USC was his top program and has been wanting to play their since he was a kid. Honestly, I really think Jarion wants to come here, he gets to play with 2 other DCISD kids, ones his teammate. Coaches that have been wanting him for a while and a program that they can take over the edge. He could look at this team as a early Gonzaga with Adam Morrison, or Davidson with Stephen Curry. This type of recruiting class will forever change North Texas Basketball.1 point

If we don't win tonight JJ should be shipped out of this town on rails. Go Mean Green!1 point

Last I checked....Scout was still showing Robertson as visiting this weekend. At his press conference the day he was hired....I remember Coach Mc saying that we had 22-25 schollies to give. But that was before Riley left. So if we're at 20.....seems to me, we'd have somewhere between 3-6 still to give out. just a guess....based on what he said.1 point

I was at a networker tonight with a guy who said he was from Iowa. Said he went to Iowa State. Told him I went to UNT and said you know who our new coach is right??? He said "yeah, McCarney. Nice guy. If it werent for our damn kicker he'd still be here. " THen he goes "I need to check out UNT next season, interested to see what McCarney can do." Told him I'd email him a schedule. All about word of mouth gentleman/ladies. All we need to do is everyone on this board bring one new fan per game.1 point

Also, remember the exclusive "front page" photo in the old Dallas Times-Herald with UNT Coach Hayden Fry and our Mean Green team at Love Field and the huge crowd that greeted them back to Texas? Let's get back to those days, Coach D-MAC, because most of us think you, Coach Chico and the rest can do just that!1 point

I can't see Alzee coming back from that kind of injury and just being able to start right off the bat. There is no guarantee he will regain the same speed he had before surgery. My guess JJ will ease him back slowly , maybe 10-15 minutes a game until he can prove he is 100% healthy. From what I've seen of Walton , he's not going to start. If we do land Henry , he can move into the 3 and Williams can take over the 2 spot. Mitchell is good enough to play any position on the floor , but until he comes back our 5 position will be a question mark. Give me : Jones,Williams,Henry,Holmen & Hogans until Mitchell is cleared. We won't have a true 5 , but there are not a lot of teams that could match up with this starting 5( 4 athletic guys all over 6'6). If Edwards can ever get his knee problems worked out he could replace Holmen. Once Mitchell is cleared bring in Holmen off the bench Just my thoughts1 point

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? There is no way is H*LL Knox is starting. More like A. Williams, Jones or Norris, Henry, J. Williams, Hogans. After December I would expect Jones or Norris to come off the bench and Mitchell starting1 point

According to Johnny's Facebook post....it will be at 2:30 a.m. tomorrow morning (Texas time). I believe the race is in Switzerland. It's on this site....British Eurosports Channel 2. (to the right on this link): http://mypremium.tv/ No, I won't be up then....but some of you youngsters might.1 point

Eulessismore, that is my point. They should redshirt, but we won't have that luxury unless we find a JUCO or two. We really need Cantly, Abbe and White to step up this year.1 point

Half? P.S. Their new argument is that North Texas "lowered our academic standards to embarrassing levels". They wonder how we could have "sold our soul for basketball success." Pot...meet kettle? Kettle of course being Eric Dickerson's stage name.1 point

And according to this blog: "With Riley Dodge returning for his third year as starting quarterback for the Mean Green, opposing defenses will not be able to focus as much attention on Dunbar as they have in the past, which could mean even bigger numbers for Dunbar in his final season at North Texas." Maybe we should do a follow-up - "10 Corrections You Should Make"1 point

It's easier now that we have an equal commitment from UNT. I've wanted to wear UNT gear in public, to work, etc. forever, but it just wasn't worth the agony. It wasn't so much ridicule, as it was the questions/comments like, "Don't you guys have that high school coach?", "Ya'll are Division II, right?", etc. The facilities will be a BIG help in this area. I expect to get more comments like, "Yeah, I drove through Denton a few weeks ago and man that stadjum looks great!" Andi if not, I can still say to those who question our status with, "Have you seen the new stadjum?". Bottom line though, is W-Ls. If coach Mac gets us winning again, along with the other positives, it'll be tons easier to chat up UNT.1 point

No, we won't. We are vastly more talented than LaLa this year. If you are saying Marlin won the game, then you are saying JJ lost the game. The game was lost because of a complete lack of effort from the players on the defensive end of the floor.1 point

I expected us to lose a few during conference play. I did not expect us to lose games to 3 and 5 win teams at this point.1 point

The news of Mitchell hit ponyfans.com and immediately it was "the NCAA is after him for forged transcripts" and "I bet he works out for NBA scouts and never sees the floor at UNT". Love it, love it, love it.0 points

If UNT is not up by at least 10 points after the first minute of play, Johnny should be forced to walk back to Denton while writing a thesis on the strengths and weaknesses of the Princeton offense.0 points

I have lost all faith in this team when playing on the road. If it were a home game, we'd win by 10+, but since it is on the road, we will lose by 15+ Just the way it is until they prove otherwise.0 points

Where's PonymanX to tell us he knows Jarion is too dumb to sign a LOI, has pending aggravated sexual assault charges or that he knows the kid's grandmother and she's a former Russion spy? (Yes Jarion, if you're reading this that's how SMU feels about Dallas area basketball players...the black ones at least)0 points

Basketball would be so much easier if it weren't for having to actually go out and beat the other teams. Many times, they want to win the game, too. Either we'll get a bye in Hot Springs, or we won't. Either we'll win the tournament, or we won't. Just like two days ago, they're both still possibilities. Anyone who wants to flip out and overreact, I'm not really bothering to read. Bad loss to a bad team. And we play another game tomorrow. Looking forward to that one.0 points
