  1. Re-uploaded for your viewing pleasure. A treat for some of our newer, more recent members and a reminder of how good things can be at this school for the rest of us. Jamario Thomas Story

  2. If anyone needs a good reason...another good reason...to join the Mean Green Club (or to raise your current level of support), well here it is in all it's glory. If we want UNT to move ahead, WE will have to step up as well to help make it happen. It really is way past time that UNT fans lost the attitude of "let someone else do it" because I can't afford it or because this or that happened to me while at UNT. Mostly, it is a matter of choice. You put priorities on what you consider important and you take action based on those priorities. I know it "hurts" from a financial standpoint at times...believe me I get it...but what I don't get is why some folks claim to be big time supporters and continue to provide small time help or no help at all. Giving back is a lesson that should have been learned in childhood, and it is a "learned" trait. Some folks are givers, some are not. Some just seem to want to enjoy what others provide. This is true in all walks of life, not just in giving back to one's school. I find it very hard to believe that any gainfully employed fan of the Mean Green could not do something...at some level to help the program. The "program" and the university seem to be stepping up...new stadium...new HC...new assistant salaries...new development and Mean Club staff, new winning attitude across the athletic department, etc., etc. Time for all members of the Mean Green Nation to look in the mirror, do some soul searching and see if they can't help support this program. I am not talking to simply those that post here on GMG.com because, for the vast majority of those who actively post here, they are already supporting the program with their $$$ and their talent and their time...they already donate to the Mean green Club and buy season tickets, but rather to the Mean Green nation as a whole. So, if that's the case, why post here? Well, because you know people who claim to support the Mean green or are graduates of the University of North Texas who do not give back...anything. We all know those people. One of the things we should all do is to go to those folks and ask that they consider once again being part of the solution instead of part of the problem. There is no doubt that the administration and athletic department is doing their part...time for the Mean Green Nation as a whole to step to the plate. GO MEAN GREEN!

  3. I haven't seen this sort of misinterpretation of a message board post since the Mexia City Council and Chamber of Commerce contacted me to discuss North Texas-related development plans.

  4. By the way.....97 and 03.....not trying to steal your thunder. 97 and 03 posted this info on another thread. Harry asked me to post this news in its' own thread....because he thought others might miss it.(buried in that other thread). So credit for finding this goes to 97 and 03.....I'm just doing what our Grand Poobah asked me to do: http://northtexas.scout.com/a.z?s=353&p=8&c=1&nid=5046389

  5. 4 years of 20+ wins and 2 NCAA berths hasn't bought our basketball program more media visibility. Winning will only get us so far; holding the media's feet to the fire and demanding they cover us will help get more coverage as well.

  6. I definitely agree...winning cures a lot of things, but it seems to me the basketball team has been doing a lot of winning over the last few years, and still has gotten very little pub in the DMN, the FW Star-Telegram nor the nightly TV news telecasts. Winning seems to cure a lot of things, just not the PR problem with UNT and the metroplex media outlets. One does have to wonder just what it will take? I have to assume there are plenty of UNT grads working for these firms.

What, are you STUPID or something?* They're wind TURBINES!* Wind MILLS are used to grind grain into flour and such.* Wind TURBINES are used to create energy.* You people on this message board are so dumb.* At least, this is what I've been told by a very reputable source on this very message board.

  12. How many UTEP shirts have you seen walking around DFW? I am going to have to say that UTEP is barely in Texas. El Paso is so far removed from the remaining population centers that I don't think that most people care.

  18. Since the DaMN went through a site redesign, it's tough navigating the site due to all the time-outs. I guess they didn't stress test the new design to make sure the hardware could handle the load of the new design?

  22. TCU never plays anybody, thus they don't deserve to play for a national; title. Oh, by the way, no one will play them. See how that works?

  27. How about this part. Again....What does the MWC having a TV presence in San Diego have to do with anything? If the MWC is in in Southern & Central (Fresno State) California, it is quite reasonable they'd like to be in Northern California as well.

  28. Again...San Jose is NOT in the San Diego TV market - so why mention it? You specifically said the MWC already has a presence in SD with the Aztecs, which is true. But SJSU would give you another area entirely. It's like saying a conference shouldn't want Houston because they have TCU. Doesn't make any sense.

  29. I certainly don't mind waiting until Feb. 1st but even if one or more posted inside information or lucky guesses, how would we know which one is correct? There are at least four teams involved positively and that many or more negatively. They can't all be right. Besides, anything done to this point since Hawaii is strictly unofficial until the conference meets next week. It ain't official 'til it's official.

  31. I do, the horns epitomize just about everything wrong with college athletics. If you don't think the insane amounts of money raised and spent by programs like Texas don't effect all college sports, then I have news for you.

  33. You think the Florida fans are happy that Cam Newton won a national championship after he had originally signed with them. Stop all the soft he was great while he was here crap and good luck to him. It makes you sound like a guy who got cheated on by his wife His whole marriage and when she divorces him and leaves him for another man, and all he can do is talk about what a great girl she is. He signed with UNT and didn't see it through. Simple as that. He quit on our university. We spent a lot of time and money developing him as an athlete for UNT. We aren't some farm club for other schools. He QUIT!!!!

  35. And God help us use Chuck Neinas in pushing our product with MWC officials because this is where every penny we've paid him thus far can really pay off for North Texas. I like our new UNT Prez's background in the NCAA, too; probably moreso than any prior Prez' we'ver ever had at UNT from all I hear. The next few weeks could be strategic in the history of our univerisity, but we do have a fair fall back just in case. We just need our "fall back" to start getting its best team(s) in Top 25 polls just like the MAC seems to have pulled off with their consortium of sports scribes who have no problem giving their schools the votes to get em' in and............... with some of their Top 25'ers being schools I think some of our best SBC teams probably could have beaten. SBC Commish' Wright Waters needs to look into how the MAC gets theirs in such polls and we don't. In fact, New Orleans would be a great place for him to entertain sports writers who have a vote for Top 25 polls. GMG!

  36. I talked to Tune at graduation in December, we were standing in line together. He told me that the medical redshirt process was not looking to good, but they had hope it was going to happen. He was a really nice guy, and told me he was excited about the McCarney hire.
