JJ said a few years ago the team wearing the 'Black Tuxedo' uniform on the road was an earned privilege. I would like to see it re-earned.3 points

I don't agree or understand everything JJ does, but handing out a discipline card at the possible expense of a W has my support. These student athletes will graduate as some of the winningest players in school history because of expectations they already are aware of.3 points

For UNT CUSA beats the MWC every time. The travel savings for having 4 schools within 5 hours drive time is the key. But since we don't have an invite from either conference I don't see how this thread got to 4 pages.2 points

Good timing for my daughter to have a dead battery on her car, after replacing her battery I asked her to take me up to the AC so I could view the progress of the stadium. We arrived at the AC around 12:30 this afternoon and there were a slew of recruits (with their families) touring the facilities. For those of you with an interest in lineman there were some big dudes in the group (no telling if they were offensive or defensive). In fact, I heard Coach Mac ask one of the guys leaving the training room, "how did you weigh out?" and the kid replied, "275lbs". He was around 6"3. Even with all the activity, Coach Mac took 3-4 minutes to chat with my daughter about the upcoming soccer season. In the 5-10 minutes of watching the recruits and their families they really seemed impressed with the facilities - lots of smiles. After seeing recruits in person on campus, I'm confident it won't be long until we hear about more commitments.2 points

I think I'm dealing with this better than a lot of people, because I had a lot of pie-in-they-sky hopes (not expectations, just hopes) extinguished after the MTSU loss. SUMG put it best when he said that this loss means we're not going to get the magical season we were crossing our fingers for. We can still have a great record, we can still win the conference, we can still go to the NCAA tournament, we're still in position to potentially earn a 14 seed... But the once every 50 or 100 years season isn't going to be this year. That's not necessarily a shock... I was realistically expecting before the season started that we'd finish something like 22-7 in the regular season, maybe 23-6 if we had a very very good year. It was nice to start fantasizing about continuing the OOC run and winding up with 28 or more wins after the SBC tournament... But even with the 11-2 head start, that was little more than a very unlikely fantasy. On the other hand... We're still sitting at 14-4. If we go 12-4 (11.5 Sun Belt wins would equal last year's all time best SBC win percentage), we'll finish at that 23-6 regular season record that many of us thought (before the season started) would be very, very good. And we'll probably at least tie for the regular season championship. If we go 11-5, we'll finish 22-7, we'll still have a Sun Belt bye (I will bet that 11 wins gets a bye on either side, and at least one bye team has a 10 win record). Even in the worst possible case, I can't fathom us finishing worse than 9-7, even if someone gets hurt. That would mean going 6-5 through the rest of the conference slate. That's terrible. And it still gets us to a 5th straight 20 win season. I know it would be a brutal let down after our start this year, but remember that we're at a point now where we'd be looking at another 20 win season as our nightmare scenario. The list of non-BCS teams with longer 20 win streaks is tiny (either 8 or 9, I don't remember off the top of my head) and stacked with perennial powers. And it's probably going to get shorter by at least one when this year is over. Don't get me wrong, I'm very bummed that this won't be a once in a lifetime season. I was hoping for top 25 votes, an undefeated conference season... A lot of that miracle stuff was dancing around in my imagination two or three weeks ago. But we're still in a position where a conference performance just slightly below what we did last year will give us a very good season, by any preseason measure. I'm not saying lets just try to stumble our way to another 20 win season and call it a year... But it is pretty amazing, when you stop to think about it, that finishing with only 20 wins would be such a brutal letdown. It says a lot about where we are as a program and how far we've come from the turn of the last decade. Other bright spots to ease the pain- Finishing with 6 or 7 losses instead of 4 or 5 makes it likelier by almost an order of magnitude that JJ will be back to coach the incoming class of recruits. He's shown in the past that he's savvy about picking the right opportunity to grow his career and continue to be successful, and he won't just jump at a higher dollar offer. He probably won't get offered a cushy seat, and he may just figure on staying another year to wait for LSU to potentially open up. And, for anyone who measures program success by postseason wins (even though it's a terrible measure and you really, really shouldn't...), we've still got the 2 main things that history shows to be critical in getting those kinds of victories: exceptional guards and a lot of tenured veterans.1 point

i think the eventual goal is to get into a regional conference, not an aq conference. this is cusa or a combination of them, belt, and wac schools should a new "southwest conference" evolve. the mwc is not an aq conference, and with loss of tcu, byu, and utah will not be one.travel expenses and lack of exposure are killers for us in any western conference, plus our fans won't travel to monroe, let alone albuquerque.we need once again to take charge of the belt and then see what regional conference opportunities become available to us. but, in my opinion, we are not thinking aq at this point in time.1 point

And we consider 500K a step up to the big boys? Just shows while it is a step, it is a fairly small one, and there is still a long way to go.1 point

I'm more worried about us getting a seed PERIOD at this point. Other than our win against a mediocre LSU team, we just haven't been a good road team at all thus far. That better change soon if we want to play after Hot Springs.1 point

Oh, well if we would lose all of our exposure, then I'm against the MWC. I'll hit 88 mph on the way down to TCU and warn them.1 point

Fortunately, men who are making business decisions and not fans who think their mid-major is better than yours will be the folks who decides who is in what conference when this is all over. We have a lot to offer and anyone educated on what we're doing and what direction we're going will see the business case for UNT. I have faith in our leadership in this move.1 point

It is fun to play woe is NT, but I doubt that NT has any less chance of obtaining a hardship exemption than anyone else. The status of the school or the value of the player should play no part in the decision. Just may be, NT has lost these appeals because the player in question just did not have a good case for the exemption or worse; NT just messed up the appeal. Either rationale seems to me better than bias from the NCAA. NCAA may shy away from punishing the "bigs" for transgressions, but I see no reason they would play favorites in granting hardship exemptions.1 point

Leavitt built a program from scratch, taking it to a top-5 ranking in ten years and a loss away from the national title game. Until someone comes in here and does the same, he will be talked about.1 point

What do you mean "we"? It takes all sides to create that match up and rivalry. UNT may be willing, but if SMU and TCU, etc. are not or have some "problems" doing home and away games with the three, then try as one might...it's not going to happen. You make this sound like a one-way street where UNT headed the wrong way and everyone else was willing. I dare say that is not the case. If, by "WE" you mean all three I am in 100% agreement with you. The challenges and problems making this happen go way back and much further back than just an A/C that may or may not have been working the last time TCU played at Fouts. If that was all it was, there could certainly have been an agreement that it would be working as well as it would be in the home locker room for the "next game". Too many folks have too many "reasons" for all this, but the bottom line is...as you so clearly stated...opportunity missed for all three schools to create a great metroplex rivalry where the fans from all three schools could easily travel and enjoy the games. Alas...what might have been if all three were willing to work together. I think the "blame" might be able to be spread across all three...with our "good friends" in Dallas shouldering perhaps more than a third. Just sayin.....Now, I think the fine folks in Ft. Worth see themselves as far and away the better of other two (well, being #2 in the nation might just do that to a fan base and a program for good reason-congrats to the Frogs). Might be hard to get this on with the Frogs and Ponies these days, but that new stadium will be a draw and do more than anything that could have been done in the last few years to make it happen. Enjoy the ride, Frog fans...you have earned it, but the high altitude might prove fleeting if you don't watch out and the fall to grace is much less fun that then rise to fame. Would love to see this metroplex rivalry get going....one can only wish.1 point

Given the TCU administration's aversion to the old non-air conditioned Fouts, I bet they would really hate a trip to Austin where they put you in the sun for an afternoon game in September and the Horns players sit comfortably on the sideline in water cooled circulating body suits. Of course, no consideration to the visiting team to furnish them with the water cooled suits. Great hospitality by the Horns.1 point

Yeah! Remember our fight song: "Victory's in store, whatever the score!" In this case, victory for UNT was having a nice cool room to hang out in during pregame/halftime/postgame.1 point

Dude, get over yourself. All you did was say his attorney needed to copy what Mangino's attorney did and settle as soon as possible. http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/topic/56379-leavitt-documents/page__view__findpost__p__520149 Then you spent post after post, exaggeration after exaggeration trying to convince everyone here that Leavitt was a horrible person and that USF were the good guys in all of this. When in fact Leavitt's attorney's had to take USF to task to get even a third of what he rightly deserved and it actually took a little shorter time than most thought it would. USF wasn't going to budge an inch in all of this and the fact that they went out of their way to trump up a bunch of horse$#!t charges to destroy his reputation, then refused to even give him his final monthly severance pay, and then requiring a state judge to force them to hand over evidence back in September proves it. Had you been his attorney he would have been screwed. Not that I have anything against Mccarney or regret him being here today, but as it turned out, had we hired Leavitt when we could have hired him we would have made an incredible hire of a coach we could have never been able to afford before and gotten a coach few would have ever thought we could have acquired, and now all the legal problems you spent weeks railing about would have been in the past. The whole thing is asinine, what a rule? You give everyone your number yet if you reply to a number you don't recognize you are in violation possibly. Text: Coach are you coming to Waco next week. Coach: Yes By returning the text Violation baby, well maybe if it was a recruit and not coach assistant coach, alumni, press, or whatever, I wonder how they keep track of all the cell numbers out there, and what if a recruit uses his buddy's, sister's, or girl friends phone?1 point

I am amazed but I have to admit I agreed with and enjoyed every bit of your post 66. I guess it is bound to happen every couple of years. It is the equivalent of something like our Armistice Day.1 point

In the older areas of Dallas most yards are mixed with St Augustine and Bermuda the two grasses will mix well and fight it out naturally where sun and shade mix. If you have too much shade for St. Augustine I would then go to ground cover. The more you fertilize the thicker the grass will get, also the better it does with less water. Like said before make sure you go with just straight fertilizer if you have a mixed yard, the weed and feeds tend to be one or the other. Also spreading some iron in the late spring is perfect to keep the grass a dark green.1 point

I think im blaming JJ on this one, you cant put your best shooter on the bench because hes in the dog house. Our bench is weak as is butslightly improving. I can understand doing this for one game but now were on two, really?? I know its still early in conference and last year we won our final 10 or so0 points

That is a great video! And, it says a good deal about the folks who run this factory and the company that employs these people. It is very obvious that this is a process that could very easily be moved overseas to Pakistan, China or Korea to lower labor costs a great deal and create a larger profit for the company. However, the company has chosen to stay in Ohio and employ these people. Every employee shown has been at that plant a very long time. That says to me that the employees are treated extremely well, and actually enjoy what they are doing...and also take a good deal of pride in what they are doing. They appear to want to be the best at what they do, and seem to be accomplishing just that. Great video and really interesting, but I took a good bit more away from watching that video than just how Wilson makes the NFL football. Looks like an American corporate success story to me. Thanks for staying "home" and for providing a great working atmosphere for a lot of citizens. I wonder if the NFL requires that the folks it contracts with for product all employ US based workers? Nike, maybe???? Hmmmmmmm.0 points
