Please move this off of the Riley Commits to Mcneese Thread...this has nothing to do with Riley committing to Mcneese as he's not even mentioned in the post. Thank you.4 points

Now that I've seen a D-1AA message board, it's more critical than ever that we never, ever slip down to that level again.3 points

If we're going to start laughing at every disrespected lower tier school that starts thinking their program is taking off and their recruiting is going to explode just because Riley Dodge backs out of a commitment to a bigger program in Texas to come play for them, well... Wait, what?2 points

"Riley 'Lightning Rod' Dodge, is what we'd call him over at 'the board'," I'd say to my friends, "always at the center of the most heated debates."2 points

Osler says his friend wasn’t shooting at people, “he was shooting at the world.” Regarding the high-pitched talk radio and cable news political rhetoric, Osler says his friend didn’t even watch the news. "He did not watch TV. He disliked the news. He didn’t listen to political radio. He didn’t take sides. He wasn’t on the left. He wasn’t on the right."2 points

What makes him a four star? When I look at rivals I see no stars, I only see that "user rating" is four stars...I take those with a grain of saly, could have click happy mothers/girlfriends/buddies etc.2 points

Then why would he go there? Seems to me if you were starting at a FBS school and heading to an FCS school, you'd make sure the one you selected was going to play you at QB.2 points

I went to the UNT campus over the weekend while I was in town for the FCS Championship game. I had never been there. Luckily the SuperPit was unlocked and I had a chance to sneak inside. On top of that, I saw Fouts, the Model A, and a long distance view of the new stadium.2 points

yeah those MF'ers don't even know what they've got coming. On the flip-side, he brought us 4 straight conference titles and a pair of national rushing champs. So maybe they've got that to look forward to in the new wack-ass WAC.2 points

Kinda bold statement. Funny thing is, if Kragthorpe gets the Tulsa gig, all 3 finalist for the UNT job will be head coaches of programs that battle for the same recruits in the same recruiting territory. Krags and Mac will be coaching on basically the same level, while Fran will be trying to build a transitional Texas St. All right in our own backyard for comparison. So, seeing whether your opinion pans out or not is going to be very easy. Get busy, Coach Mac, we're watching.1 point

It was my understanding that the program needed to be moving forward headed into the new stadium. If what you say is true (and I think it is); then TD should have been fired last year so that the new coach could get his system (coaches and players) into the system to start winning in a new stadium. Headed into a new stadium to continue losing will be unacceptable.1 point

According to Twitter, KTXA-21 and CBS 11 should be running a story today or tomorrow about the 15 home game win streak by our men's Basketball team. Remember, Thursday we go up against FIU. Need everyone's support for another strong push into the conference tournament in Hot Springs.1 point

Here is the full rundown: Matt Simon (1994-1997) - Currently the head coach at Gilmour Academy near Cleveland, Ohio. He also teaches 7th grade PE... Dennis Parker (1991-1993) - Was the head coach at Texas Lutheran Univerisity, but resigned after the 2009 season. His overall record at TLU was 6-23. Corky Nelson (1982-1990) - The last HC job I can find for him is an assistant coaching position at Mary Hardin Baylor. After he left NT, his next job was as a HC of Seguin High School. Bob Tyler (1981) - Left NT after one season to coach Northwest Mississippi Community College. From 1992-1996 he was the director of Mississippi State Parks & Wildlife. His last coaching job was at Millsapps College, and he retired in 2002. Jerry Moore (1979-1980) - Left NT to coach TT for five years. He has been the HC at Appalachian State since 1989 and has won 3 FCS National Championships. Hayden Fry (1973-1978) - Went to Iowa and became a Hall of Famer. Rod Rust (1967-1972) - Since coaching NT has had all kinds of assistant positions in the NFL and CFL. He was most recently a Defensive Coordinator in the CFL in 2005. All other former coaches have passed away.1 point

It's true. We're like a semi-feral band of orphans with a very thorough understanding of the Castle Doctrine. Use soft, inviting tones, don't make abrupt moves, and don't show fear. Give it a day or two, scratch CBL behind the ears, and everything will be fine.1 point

ESPN gets about half its revenue from subscribers and half ad revenue. The game is on ESPN because: 1. Don't want fans giving up cable or going to Internet providers not subscribing to ESPN3. 2. Need must have content to raise fees charged to cable and Internet. 3. Want to boost viewership to raise ad rates. 4. Making ESPN more essential let's them force cable to add more ESPN channels and services. ESPN is basically maxes out on number of subscribers so higher fees and higher ad revenue only growth avenue left.1 point

Since last Monday, we lost to MTSU. #8 Drexel went 1-2 with losses to Hofstra and VCU, win against Delaware #10 George Mason went 1-2, losses to Hofstra and Old Dominion, win against Delaware #11 Portland lost to Gonzaga #12 VCU went 2-1, loss to Georgia State and wins against Drexel and UNC Wilmington #13 Coastal Carolina went 2-0, beating Virginia Military and Liberty #14 Montana went 1-1 with a loss to Northern Colorado and a win against Sacramento State Only Coastal Carolina is really primed to make a jump, and we may actually stick around in the top 10.1 point

Realtime registered the loss (wrong score, but it's on the record as an overall and conference loss) and we fell to 89. Way better than I was expecting once you pointed out the mistake.1 point

Also tonight, LSU beat Auburn. Sam Houston State, Texas State, Texas Southern, Grambling, and Jackson State all won. Rice lost to Tulsa, Texas Tech lost to Baylor. UTA had an unhelpful loss to Nicholls State. 6 wins (one effectively gets counted twice thanks to 2 games against Texas State), 2 losses to quality RPI teams, and one game that will hurt us a little bit. Kansas had the night off. We had an RPI of 82 today, and we may actually go up another spot or two again despite another inactive day.1 point

If we finish conference at 13-3 (very possible, even with the bummer loss to MTSU), I think we win the regular season title outright. That guarantees us the NIT bid, a worst-case record (round 1 SBC tourney loss) of 24-6 and a likely 6 seed in the NIT. Courtland is the NITologist, I leave further NIT analysis and speculation to him. If we win the SBC tournament, that would give us a 27-5 record and a minimum 14 seed with a strong shot at a 13 in the NCAA tournament. A strong finish and conference tournament win from us is almost this league's only shot at a spot above the 15 line. Depending on who wins it, we could see the SBC in the 16 line for the first time I know of. I'm pretty sure that no Sun Belt representative (or, as far as I know, current member of the Sun Belt) has ever been a 16 seed. If a non-bye team wins the tournament, or if a team like Denver or FIU wins 10-11 conference games, gets a 2 seed and wins the tournament, a 16 seed is VERY possible.1 point

I love you. Welcome back. You are wrong. Last year, we played the tournament with a 6 man rotation. Odufuwa/Tramiel/White/Thompson all played 30-39 minutes each night for three straight nights. Mangrum and Shorter split most of the rest of the minutes. The only person to play more than 5 minutes in any game even once was Cam Spencer. He played 8 minutes in the final against Troy. 16 minutes total in 3 games, and he was the biggest bench contributor by far. Nobody else played more than 10 TOTAL minutes in the entire tournament. So, this year, with everyone in that rotation back but Tramiel and Mangrum, replacing the two of them with Kedrick Hogans and Dom Johnson... We're suddenly not deep enough to win? Even with 9 scholarship players at our disposal, we're deeper in terms of a tournament roster than we were last year. I'm not saying we're a slam dunk to win the thing. But depth is the concern for the tournament? Didn't seem to be a problem last year. And in 2007, I think we went 7 deep with guys who played serious minutes. If someone gets hurt, we're in trouble. But that would have been true last year, too. If everyone else is healthy, we're the toughest out in the tournament, even allowing for home court advantage to the Arkansas team.1 point

Two and a half. He'll transfer somewhere at the semester break, then be eligible at the new school for the Spring semester (technically, right after the end of the Fall semester) next season. He's a RS Freshman now, so he'll miss November and most of December of next year (his Sophomore year), but be able to play around Christmas through conference season and the late OOC games. Late December-March participation for the 2011-12 season. Then he'll have his full Junior and Senior years of eligibility for 2012-13 and 2013-14. There wouldn't be a total layoff from basketball, either. Williams would be able to practice with his new team as soon as he's enrolled and cleared... He'll only miss 7-8 weeks of organized basketball activity, then be back practicing at his new school in January.1 point
