  1. If we're going with Nike, it'll definately be on the ProCombat template. Here is what I put together. Took the wing lines from SOW and incorporated them into the pants stripe. Also robbed the Houston Texans numbers as the points go perfectly with our word mark. ProCombat shield on the collar also has the SOW.

  3. DG, I might have agreed with that assessment about a year ago, but after Canales fully took over I saw a Riley that I hadn't seen before. Anyone who plays with a broken wrist, with such intensity, after suffering many other injuries is a real special athlete in my book.

  6. But, it is true. I guess the truth hurts for some people. He was willing to be a WR when TD was here. And, now he is not.

  7. There are a thousand scenarios running around in my head as to what really went down to cause Riley to decide to transfer, and none of them are pretty. But there's no denying that both he and his father have chosen to take the high road in the public forum and let whatever behind the scenes happenings lie where they are. Let them both leave with dignity and let UNT focus on moving forward in this new era.

  8. i hate that he is leaving, he was a hell of a competitor...but if it came down to loyalty to my father or a university, i'd pick family every time.

  9. Dear (insert QB name who transferred in January with 2 years of eligibility remaining) : I appreciate (insert specific game where you gutted out a solid performance despite taking a horrible physical pounding) and I'll never forget the excitement we had when you signed on to play for us in ( 1) 2007 / 2) 2008) . Seeing you sacrifice your body for a losing team was inspiring and humbling, and I'll always be grateful for the courage you showed on the field. To hear that you've decided to transfer away from a team that needed you so badly is heartbreaking ( 1) but completely understandable / 2) and an obvious sign of deep moral failing) . I know it wouldn't have been the same for you to try and carry on here without your ( 1) father / 2) best friend) , and I ( 1) totally understand / 2) hope you die of syphilis) . You gave a commitment to this team. You gave your word that you'd fight and struggle alongside your teammates. Those other guys were relying on your impressive physical talent and leadership. But instead, almost at the end of the window this team has to replace you, you've decided to move on and look for a fresh start somewhere else. ( 1) It must have been hard, but I respect that difficult choice and I say: "good for you". / 2) Die, die, die you godless animal, I hate you with ever fiber of my being. In the end, there's one thing we can all agree on as members of the North Texas family: Most of the blame for this probably belongs with your dad.

  11. Here are a few more versions. And a few helmet variations. Even through in a black. Doesn't scream Mean Green but I do think it is sexy. We could pull an Oregon or VaTech and run a different combination out there every week.

  13. Nobody likes watching us get our heads bashed in when we play "guarantee" games. And nobody likes going to Austin, Norman or Baton Rouge knowing those teams will never come to Fouts. So, my question, is this...why not branch out and replace these teams with teams further away but still higher up the food chain than us? Minnesota seats 50,805. Rutgers seats 52,454. Purdue seats 62,500. Northwestern, who just played in Dallas, seats just over 47,000. There are teams that, while they won't give us the million dollar guarantees would write us a pretty decent check and...wait for it...might even consider coming to our place. Before anyone says "they'd never play in our stadium b/c it's too small and they have no reason to come to Denton" think about it before just assuming. How often do these teams get to come into the metroplex? How many of them recruit Texas in general and this area in specific. Think Purdue wouldn't like to have kids from Houston, San Antonio or Austin come watch them play a short drive away? And, unlike Texas or OU, these schools don't have alumni bases in the metroplex that are so large we couldn't accomodate. Did K-State overrun our stadium? I know, I know, kids want to play the "big boys." Are you honestly telling me that a kid who is considering NT would decide not to because he's gonna travel to play Iowa State or Minnesota instead of UT? I don't buy that for a second and I think it's just become gospel because it's been repeated enough times. Why continue to play these games where we have EVERYTHING to lose and nothing to gain except the pay check? No, I'm sorry, these are not "opportunity" games. At least not until you build the program for a while by WINNING and begin to use that to recruit the players who are capable of beating the "big boys." Boise didn't become who they are by scheduling murderer's row...at least not in the beginning. They drew players in by winning first. Until then it's just scrimmmage for sale. Call me crazy if you want, but I think with a little creativity we could use our new stadium to our advantage instead of just as a place to return to after taking a brutal beating in week 1.

  17. +1...I too am a donor and attend functions but it certainly does not give me any right to voice my opinion that way. For DG to publicly call Riley a "spoiled brat" is very out of line and not accurate. I have talked to Riley a number of times and I found him to be polite, well mannered and certainly not a "spoiled brat".

  18. I think the inference here is the tone used. I agree folks have an opinion, but not like Riley has been slammed most especially by DG. His posts concerning Knox have been off base as well. Being a donor and attending functions does not buy him the right to run an athlete down in the manner which he has. I donate and attend functions as well, but I have not seen this as one of the benefits.

  20. I love getting info and good discussion from message boards but HATE that some people use their anonymity to act like fools. Shaft, DallasGreen, Adub, MeanGreenBob wouldn't dare speak about or to someone the way they phrase their comments here. Sad, just sad. If you're goal was to get me offsides consider it a success. But YOU are 'incredibly weak.' Not Riley.

  21. It is unfortunate that Riley's career at UNT has ended. He played with a lot of passion to the best of his ability. I attended every game this year and he looked sharp as the starting QB. He did a very good job in leading this team. To be called a quitter by some is not fair. This classy young man had more adversity in 2010 than most of us face with the death of a close friend / teammate, multiple injuries and the firing of his father. Maybe a change in scenery is what is best for him. To me Riley Dodge is a winner and will be a success in the game of life.

  22. I love how the "hijack!!!!" accusation comes from the guy who took a thread about Riley Dodge and turned it into a discussion about how Colorado's imaginary football dominance led to their Pac 10 invite. In any event, I think you ought to answer your own question: Yuk, yuk!

  26. Why DID the Pac-10 want Colorado? Because they won 8 games in football 6 years ago? Because they've won 1 conference title in the past 20 years? How the hell does that fit in with your argument? Or was that a joke? A little "yuk yuk" for anyone masochistic enough to read the whole post thoroughly? FOOOTBAAAAAWWWWWWLL!!!!!! [aside: I wish we were gooder at foooooootbaaaaaaaawwwwwll, too. But given how terrible we've been, Basketball is the only thing that's kept this era of NT graduates remotely connected to the athletics program. Maybe some alums, too. ?]

  27. Total honesty? Right now, all I really care about in the world of Mean Green sports is George Odufuwa's ankle. It's amazing how far my level of football give-a-poop has plummeted since 2008. But yes, I do think this is an even bigger hit, given the circumstances and the alternatives, than Vizza's departure was.

  29. I understand that but he was recruited here to play QB. I'm guessing Coach Mac had informed him he wasn't going to be the QB. This transfer was probably just as appreciated by the new coaching staff as it was by Riley. I think it was mutually beneficial to both parties. Riley's not the QB to get us to the next level. UNT is not the program for Riley anymore. Add the father factor in and I don't blame him. I thought he handled the whole situation publicly with class and continues to. I see where a lot of transfers get labeled as "quitters" but I think there were special circumstances in this case. and again, it's not like Riley is leaving us high and dry. Riley and Todd Dodge both handled the whole situation with class.

  32. Right now I'd say our depth chart would be: Thompson Osborn Baine Teegarden If Tune returns then he goes to the top with Thompson. Teegarden, to me, is a Riley clone at this point. He was a heck of a HS player at Odessa High just a little undersized, but could be effective if he puts on some weight, which he should. I would hope we can RS any high school signees unless they are obviously head and shoulders above anyone else.

  33. Maybe, but The program is still in better shape overall, and attendance is better than the best of the years prior. Let it go man. I hate to see Riley go. I was hoping he would stick to his word and finish it out here. He was a true competitor.

  38. This whole SMU/TCU thing would actually be pretty cool because each team would essentially get two extra home games. That would make eight games a year that SMU/TCU/UNT fans could attend without having to visit Expedia, and that would be pretty cool. It would also be great for attendance for all three schools. If I should happen to be repeating something that's already been stated on this thread, I apologize in advance for not having read the whole thing.

  41. OK. Here goes. I have nothing personally against Riley Dodge. He played tough through adversity. That said, I'm not sad to see a clean slate next year without any perceived hint of past administrations hanging over the team like a cloud, deserved or not.

  42. If Riley was a quitter, I don't think he would have played with a broken wrist against Lafayette. He's a class act and a really nice guy. I wish him nothing but the best.

  43. Good luck and God speed, Riley Dodge. Thanks for all you did to try to help the Mean Green win. Great kid, great attitude and great big heart. Took a "pounding and kept on ticking", and played with the "want to" that i would love to see in every athlete in every sport at UNT. I would love nothing more than for Riley Dodge to have success wherever he ends up playing. My guess is that we will hear nothing but positives about UNT from Riley Dodge. Good luck, Riley...I, for one, will miss seeing you don the uniform of the Mean Green. Good luck and God speed.

  44. Doesn't surprise me... I think it is a combo of daddy gone and him being forced to play wide reciever next year. Something I don't think he wants to do.

  45. Nothing to measure or think out. Riley is a special athlete and a great young man. I will be forever grateful for his contributions here and I wish him every success in the future. He will be successful in the future on and off the field. It killed me to see him take the physical pounding he did for us and I respect him. Thank you, Riley Dodge.
