  2. ???? Hey bud, I am not a crinkled dollar bill guy. You won't find a bigger fan of Sun Belt football than me - simply correcting a stat. Doesn't take a thing away from the HUGE wins by FIU and Troy. Now we just need the MUTS to round out a perfect 3-0 record. Would be very sweet to sweep the Macsters, they somehow think that they are better than the Belt, lol. They are bigger - thus provide teams with even more conference wins - but they are not better in any way. We have higher budgets, better attendance, and better football in the Belt.

  3. WOW!!! What a great game! I couldn't believe the last couple of minutes in that game! Amazing! CONGRATS FIU! Enjoy your victory now because the Mean Green and coach McCarney are going to walk all over you next year. GMG!

  4. No no no...let them believe JJ is dirty. Really really dirty. So dirty they should DEFINITELY look elsewhere if they need a coach. Dirty I tells ya.

  5. Not much in weekly columns, but a couple of mentions: From Mid Major Report... Under who's hot: North Texas: North Texas is 10-2 with big man George Odufuwa averaging a double-double (11.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game). http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5959225 From Andy Katz week that was report... 4. The gap has closed between power-six conference teams and lower-level teams. The elite teams such as Duke, Ohio State and Kansas still take care of business, regardless of competition. But it’s hard to argue that the gap hasn’t closed for average to mediocre teams that are struggling. Furman, Jacksonville, Seattle, Siena, Maine, Presbyterian and North Texas all won against power six teams this past week. http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/20224/observations-from-the-week-that-was-4

  12. I hope NT is in jeopardy of losing all their coaches because that means they have done something positive here. Yes JJ deserves more but the facts are he and the team has done their part, but as a whole the NT bb program does not come remotely close to breaking even. With the type and quality of the program, JJ has developed; the attendance and support at NT is pitiful. Most schools in Texas are in the same situation, and the support for NT has and is improving but it has far to go. Now that NT is in conference play hopefully NT can average at least 4,000 for the rest of the home games and take at least double the crowd they had last year for the conference tournament.

  13. NT beat much better teams including ranked teams in the old MVC days. The win over LSU would not rank in the top 20 wins of NT, however it is very significant for this years team. Relative to NT merchandise availability, it seems every AD including RV has pronounced that the problem would be solved but it never is. It is not available in the majority of metroplex sports apparel retailers and it isn't because it is sold out.

  14. And, some people say that Denton area kids never get a look from UNT. Glad to see this and hope it continues. There are plenty of local area kids who, at a minimum, deserve a look by UNT. They can decide to sign with UNT or some other school as that is always the situation, but good to see the interest and contact from UNT. Go Mean Green!

  15. Never-mind that one guarantee game may make more money then NT's whole home schedule. I think NT is in an excellent position only playing one guarantee game a season, look at the other Belt teams' schedules. I had much rather play UT than the other usual suspects LSU, OU and Alabama. Facts are that you are not going to get home games from the elite programs unless you are willing to do 2 or more away for 1 home game deals. These multiple away for one home game can really destroy your home schedules on a long term basis.

  16. I was cheering for FIU as if they were us, just like I did with Troy and will do with MTSU. Our conference needs more respect.

  17. I know you guys are joking around, but I do think that North Texas should refuse to play against any school that will not schedule the games home-and home. The students of North Texas invest too much of their money to have the athletic department pad the budget by continuously scheduling embarrassing body bag games. Real division 1 programs do not sell games to the highest bidder. Real division 1 programs create the best possible product for their customers, then manage and promote the accordingly. Customer loyalty will develop.

  20. Who cares if no other Texas schools pay their basketball coach the same or more than the football. That point is irrelevant. The market just isn't Texas..its the whole NCAA. That is the market. Just because it is football and it is in Texas it shouldn't be God's gift to football coaches to automatically get and deserve a higher salary than a basketball coach. While I love the possibilities Coach Mac will bring to NT football he hasn't even coached one down and you talk as if there is no way in hell JJ should have a same or higher salary than him. It's about producing and that is the only thing that matters. Now Tim Floyd at UTEP makes more than Mike Price according to my findings albeit very quick search. While Mike Sherman makes 1.8 million a season Mark Turgeon is not that far behind in making 1.2 million a year. I think basketball is just now sniffing this state as far as talent and programs and it is only going to get bigger and bigger.

  21. It's enough just to be competitive in the games, right?

  22. I believe this team has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best UNT basketball team ever. But in order to achieve that accommplishment Ben Knots has got to continue to display the desire and fearless competiveness that he has so willingly shown the last couple of games. Thanks Ben. Whats scarey, you can even be better! Keep moving forward. Never ever say never! Go for it Ben!!! Also, Alonzo Edwards. Hey, yes you are part of this team. You know how to play basketball. True, some of these guys played in two NCAA tournaments. So what! They don't care. That was last year and this is this year. Not one player on your team would care if you showed them up! They just want to win for the team, for the University, the fans and themselves. Yes, you are member of the team. Relax! Play like you know you can. Everyone is a star on this team. Note: Not responsible for mispellings and opinion only if thats ok with you guys?

  26. so, yesterday as I am leaving work this guy sees me leave the building and says...hey, I see you wearing UNT stuff a lot and I was wondering...how old are you? Well, odd or so I thought until he says...you may be about the age of a guy that works in our office, Lonnie Givens, and who played ball at UNT. Wow...two things...first, the guy noticed that i often wear UNT and UNT Alumni logo'ed items to work, and second, he knew the guy in his office went to UNT and played ball there! I'll head up to the 4th floor to meet the guy the next time I am in the office after the 1st of the year...yep, out until the new year...YIPPEE! Small world, huh? After meeting "Lonnie" I will definitely ask if he is a member of the Alumni Association and the Mean Green Club. I hope the answer is "yes" to both. I may recognize Lonnie immediately and hope I do so I can again place a name with a face of a member of the Mean Green Nation. Point is..some random guy had noticed that I often wear Mean Green gear around the office (yes, I am fortunate enough to now work where I can do so). That means people do notice! It is important as we try to raise the awareness level of UNT around the Metroplex that this sort of thing happen...it did make me feel pretty good as I drove home last evening. Just another small "win"...very small but a win none the less...for the Mean Green nation. I hope everyone is proud to wear Mean Green/UNT gear and does it often...not just when attending Mean Green games. Put a smile on my face! GO MEAN GREEN!

  29. Good: You get west coast feeds for some cable channels, which was very nice back before I got DVR (in September) They send you an on screen alert every time there's any sort of free preview or service. I watched "There Will Be Blood" over a dozen times in one week during a Showtime free preview. That was awesome. Their service people are great, never really had any service interruptions for TV or internet. I liked their remote better than any other cable company I've had to use before Bad: Slightly more expensive than Verizon (though Verizon customer service makes me want to murder/kill/destroy) HD is only 720 instead of 1080, with no announced timeline to upgrade.

  35. I think it is simply one example. Especially when this administration has done everything in it's power to convince the American public that the system is broken, when most know, it is not. It needs reform. But it's not the absolute disaster that these hired drones below would have you believe. Rick

  36. You guys need to realize from the start, in Canada for surgery you get put on a list. You don't get to pick your surgeon. They assign the patients by their proximity to the local surgical center, or regional medical center if a specialty is needed according to where you live. If you have to wait nine months for your number to be called you have to wait for the most part. A friend of mine at EDS specialized in the IT side of company mergers between US and Canadian companies, he had been part of almost 50 before he left last year. But the thing he said that was always consistent between all the mergers was the Canadian execs and professionals demanded to be on the US side health insurance. He said that was just about automatic and he said he could not remember one where this was not part of the deal. Not being able to select your surgeon and being put on a list for nine months to a year would bother most people here in the states. Funny how people think Canadian heath care is any good at all. The only ones that might like it are the poor, because they can go to a General practitioner relatively easily if they live in the right areas of Canada, and for the poor having surgery is better then nothing. This is not to get into the assembly line surgery process, and the number of surgeries declined due to age and other issues. The problems with the Nurses and medical assistants, the Unions and the low pay make for some crazy issues and worse care. So the rule in Canada is if a person can afford it, cross the border to the USA and see the Doctors they want, and pay for the quality care they want. In Canada a person doesnt get to see the specialist they may want to see, they see who is available closest to their address and assigned to them by the government. In Canada you can't pay to see the Doctor you want, or to set up a surgery as simple as oral surgery for a root canal, or impacted wisdom teeth can take months to a year. I can see the spin on this, well I really lost some weight last year I could not chew my food. They actually have a black market Medical community growing which is illegal and has punished several doctors with jail time because they treated people outside the National Heath system. Just Fun Stuff - But those that think the Canadian Premiere came to the US to best Surgeon he could are right, but there is much more to it then just that..

  37. Pretty amazing I love this stuff, I started watching the first one and ended up watching the whole show. Really good presentation/production and this theory should put an end to man made global warming, can you imagine no more carbon BS from Gore. Our cows will not be taxed, it is as if the world is a much better place. This should be aired on the Discovery Science Channel. I actually slept better last night after watching, it is well produced and I read it has been on show on TV in parts of Europe. I heard Henrik Svensmark had a heart attack back in December, I hope he is OK. His work is genius.
