I will post this weekly. It is fun to watch how the numbers change. I got a little carried away, so I added a couple categories. The first column is overall home attendance, the second is the attendance for schools while the students are off campus, and the final two are for conference home and away games. We are doing pretty good so far. WKU and MTSU both have big home games against Louisville and Vanderbilt coming up in the next couple days, so that should change numbers a little bit. Enjoy! The overall SBC average is 2537. Not sure how this compares to previous years, but seems like a could be better, but could be worse sort of thing.5 points

I have been following North Texas football for the last two weeks ever since I heard that Coach Mac was going to be hired as the head coach. After reading several of the posts that various people have written I decided to post a little insight about some of the coaches on the staff. Let me start by verifying my credibility. I was a student/athlete at Iowa State from 1999-2001. I played for Coach Mac, my position coach was Coach Quartaro and Coach Nelson and Coach Grant were on the Iowa State staff. Coach Mac and his staff will work day and night to build a program that all North Texas fans will be proud of. The coaches will prepare the players well and they will not leave out any details. The program will produce graduates that are better men and better players than when they got to North Texas. Coach Mac is a motivator who knows how to build a program and will strategically put the right people in the right places to be successful. Coach Quartaro, Nelson and Grant are all players coaches that will develop great relationships with their position players and you will not find very many other coaches as dedicated, qualified and professional as these guys. I look forward to following North Texas football and I guarantee the future will be bright. Good Luck.3 points

I'm not complaining about our home, I agree it's the best place for us right now. I'm simply trying to combat those who argue the greatness of the Belt. We can agree that it's a good fit right now without pretending that it's something it's not.3 points

For those who didn't watch the game, late in the game while Northern Illinois was running the clock out they began talking about the win and what it meant to their program and their conference. Last year the MAC ended a double digit bowl game losing streak (I forget the exact number) when Central Michigan beat Troy in the GMAC bowl. After talking about that streak coming to an end last year, one of the announcers said something like 'But this win is huge because it's comes against a national program... not just a Sunbelt team.' Even our most recognized program nationally gets zero respect for a MAC/WAC audience.2 points

With the new WAC, the Belt will no longer be the shortest dwarf. If we can rack up some wins against the MAC we can climb to being the third shortest dwarf.2 points

Untjim1995 you have valid points and FloMoGrad is correct but needs to add one more point. Support the program with your dollars, be in the stands if possible, and purchase UNT merchandise.2 points

At this point in time, I'd say it's a little short sided to ask any fan of UNT to go support another university. Understand and agree with your post, but we literally need every fan we can get, at this point in time.2 points

I have been on this board for many years, since 2001. Not once, have I seen anyone post, "Yes, the SBC is the best place for UNT for the rest of history. The SBC is better than CUSA or the MWC for our school." Not once. I have seen idiots say that we should go join the WAC because Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, and Nevada are bigger names than who we play in the Belt. No one argued that point, except that most people recognized that there was a great risk of those programs bolting the WAC to go to the MWC, which, just shockingly, happened. Now, the SBC turned about to be a much better deal for UNT than the WAC would have, but no one is saying that the SBC is so good that we will just stay here. I will ask you again what advice you would give to the AD to have gotten that CUSA/MWC invite already or soon? Because it seems that the university and its AD have put into place quite a bit to entice such an invite, but it hasn't gotten here yet. Obviously, you must have the right ideas, though, since you always clamor to get out of the SBC. In reality, this is our home for a long time. If that bothers you so much so that you perpetually post about the conference's woefulness, you should just stop following the program. You will be a great UT T-shirt fan--and have lots of fellow douches to keep you company.2 points

All of the points are valid, but I'm sure that Fouts Field went a LONG way in discouraging many recruits from coming here. Hopefully that is behind us now. I have been told that many times recruits have been excited during their trips and liked the facilities, but when they visited Fouts, the excitement drained from their faces. I'm sure growing up in Denton and seeing the dump their whole life made UNT a non-starter for many local players long before they were ever recruited.2 points

I understand that the regular seat prices are a great value, and if one can afford the CL they are probably a good deal as well. But did it surprise you that the terrace isnt being utilized and that the lack of that level being offered will undercut some MGC members out of what would surely have been an expected amenity as part of a membership? It did me. Rick2 points
-
We don't have to hoist anything up. It's already there and has been there for 5 years now and it's damn nice, and it should be used as another optional level for those who can't pay thousands a year but still want to contribute. Rick2 points
-
I don't expect caviar. I expect something simple with a Texas twist that me and three others can afford, something like what has been served on the AC Center touchdown terrace off and on for the past 6 years during events there such as Mesquite-Smoked Brisket. After all, this is what so many of us have been waiting for ever since that structure was built. Now unless something changes it will be nothing but a nice fancy sun deck for crickets. Rick2 points

Because Steve, you can't come on here and voice a concern about anything? And if we get another Olympic Sized Swimming Pool some day that is a foot shorter than an Olympic Sized Swimming Pool, then I expect you to still shut up and pay up when I call you to up your Mean Green Club membership. Don't you know these things by now? Rick2 points

Im just glad its been several years now that no one in my house squishes when they walk. By the way, those diaper genies are crap! Rick2 points

There it is again. Whooooooosh!!!!!!! goes that $6,000 for those two tickets, dissappearing into thin air. I'm in awe of you guys in how you do that. Rick2 points

I've only been following the Mean Green as a homer since the 2005 season. I went to one game(at Baylor) prior to that in 1999, my freshman year at NT, because my gf's dad lived in Waco and one of my HS teammates played for Baylor. I heard around school that we had beaten Texas Tech but other than that, I was the typical(of that time) uninformed, uninterested student. I left NT in the spring of '01 and returned in the fall of '05 with a better head on my shoulders and became the addict I am now. The point of this rambling is that I'm still relatively new to Mean Green fandom and came across my favorite NT intro vid on youtube. I was curious what intros were like in the past and what some of your favorites were.1 point

I actually liked OP's entrance too... we used to do the chant with the video when we were students1 point

I watched Holmen during warm ups, and he was nailing the 3 point shot, especially from the left side of the floor. He would hit 3-5 shots in a row from the 3. How wonderful would that be if we can have a big man that can nail the 3. It really opens up other things for our offense and makes things difficult on the opposition's defense... Hopefully tonight was turning point for Holman and his contributions. Edwards also had a particularly good game, and looked more involved and up to the speed of the game as well as playing with intensity. He just looked more comfortable out there. Edwards ended up with 8 points, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal in 16 minutes of play.. now that is production! And of course Big George simply dominated Texas State. They didn't what to do with him. And last, Hogans is completely beat up. He wore a left elbow pad, left wrist brace, right wrist brace, left knee brace, and, get this, soccer style shin guards on both legs. And hobbled out of tonight's game grimacing in pain while holding his left hip... I do not know how much longer he will hold up. All around great effort by the good guys.1 point

This was hard for me to believe, but I'm just curious how many of you knew that one of the best features of the Stadium/AC Center, the massive deck over looking the South Endzone that most of us thought would be the natural new location of the Mean Green Club Deck, will not be used? Rick1 point
-
And we appreciate those folks as well, more than we can ever show. Well, maybe we could offer them more options for their donations? That would be a start. Rick1 point

I can understand peoples dislike of all black unis given what happened in the past. However, black + green looks good, it just does. I hate our unis we have had the past few seasons, they're just bad. Home=Green tops/ green pants black belt Away=White tops green numbers/ green pants black belt black pant stripe Alternate= Black tops/Black pants white belt green numbers/pant stripe You guys are acting like putting black in to the combination somewhere is the same as having a uniform like Oregon's. It's not, lots of teams incorporate black in to their uniforms, and it would be awesome to have a blackout day on one of the games in the new stadium.1 point
-
And we greatly appreciate what you have done in stepping up to the plate like you did. Your obviously one of the great folks Green Jackel is talking about. But for every one of you Im willing to guess there are 100 or more others who wont follow your lead(buying two club seats AND then additional separate seats for others) for obvious reasons already discussed. I've been on the phone with 8 just this week who you would have regularly seen on the wooden deck but wont see in the club level next year. There should be an option that includes a level for those who require it, and it should be at the existing AC deck where we all thought these past five years it would be. Rick1 point
-
We do have a deck. It has been there for 5 years now and has hosted numerous events. Ever been there? The view is great. In fact the view from it is so damn awesome that athletic department officials take donors and potential donors to it to hopefully encourage and inspire a gift from them. Check it out some time. I think you'll love it. Rick1 point
-
Why is it surprising to anyone that we aren't going to have a deck? If you want to stay on the deck - it is still there. Go to Fouts on Opening day next year and drink your beer. Otherwise, face the facts of reality. Things will change. Change is good. Prices will go up. No one cares about a few people who want to stand on the deck at the athletic center as if that's the only place they could possibly enjoy themselves during a football game.1 point

I can't answer your question with certainty to who created it. I do know that UNT paid for the design and creation of the current eagle logo and type design. UNT owns that logo and type design and licensed the logo to Prosper. So, if we are to make fun of anyone, it would be Prosper for copying UNT. But, we wouldn't because it is a good thing that we have a logo that people want to use, and we should let them use it. The only problem I have with Prosper putting that on the side of their helmets is that it's not on our helmets so stupid people would make the assumption you have heard, and say that UNT copied Prosper. Which in fact, is the polar opposite of what really happened.1 point

If you enjoy schmoozing and ignoring UNT football games... maybe I could introduce you to my girlfriend. You and her could mingle and socialize while I WATCH FOOTBALL.1 point

I hear ya. I hope after talking about with them the other night that we get more options. Rick1 point

No, i want to talk about it now. You sat there and heard the same thing i did the other night and for at least two separate reasons we were told it isnt gonna happen. Now is the time to discuss it so that they know its a concern by the fans. Rick1 point

Mark, now is the time to brimg it up. Not later. Once it is done, everyone will get on board regardless what is decided and final. And obviously Im not alone with this as a concern. Suggestion: I refuse to read the uniform thread because i know no matter what I wish for, and no matter what the AD Dept rolls out next year that Im going to be dissapointed. So I dont read it. If it pains you so much to read the concerns of others who want to discuss them here, DON'T READ iT! Rick1 point

As of Tuesday a week ago this was not a consideration at all with AD dept MGC staff members. The CL is the replacement of the deck. That could change between now and then and I hope it does. We shall see. Rick1 point

.....sarcasm alert..... Money Shmoney. It's only money after all? Hell JD say's the one time stadium donation, $6,000 and some change was the example he used, doesn't even factor in? You just sort of "Mind Over Matter" that $6,000 away? Sort of, "If my wife doesn't mind, then it(I) won't matter? Rick1 point
-
Ah, the ol $100 bill arguement, but in this case it's about 14 of them per seat. And it's funny, but expected off course,in how people who didnt get any value out of the deck in the first place feel free to dismiss the concerns of those who did? Rick1 point

Hey Classic, do you think we can get The Prairie House and other caterers over there during the season before each game? Rick1 point
-
Yes, it was a huge draw and a great, affordable place to stop in on your way to meet up with family and friends and get a bite to eat before heading to your seats. My roommate and I took three different guests there this year alone who, because of the great hospitality they were shown, are now interested in purchasing season tickets. Rick1 point
-
Yes, if you purchase one seat at the Club Level for a minimum of $1475. Outside of having your own tailgating event your only other option will be the Alumni Pavilion located outside of the stadium in the Northeast corner. Rick1 point
-
There are doors accessing the deck from the AC Center and stairs leading up to it from the stadium floor. There would be plenty of easy options for the Deck to have accessibility to people who had already entered the stadium/seating area with a purchased ticket. Wouldn't be a problem. Rick1 point
-
Yes, they want to encourage people to solely access the Mean Green Club Level by purchasing Club Level Seating. This prices out a lot of folks who enjoyed meeting up with friends and family before the game. Plus, the video board will supposedly be blocking the view of the deck.........and the coaches offices, from the stadium. The video board location has been changed from the North Endzone to the South so that the few people sitting in the Wing section wont have to turn around to check the score or watch a replay. So to accomodate them, one of the best features I thought we had for recruiting folks into the Mean Green Club and to wow recruits and visitors as they visit the AC Center, won't be a feature at all.
