First off, if you HAD used some paragraphs, it would be a little easier to give a direct, and orderly response to that load of garbage. But the fact you just went on an unsubstantiated rant, I really don't feel the need to directly respond (but I'll give it a shot below). Instead of wasting a lot of time replying to you though, I am going to head over to the women's basketball game to support my school. Yes, women's basketball. I may be wrong about this, but in the case you ARE from SMU and just over here to make trouble, I will leave you with this to dwell on: You did a good job of nitpicking all the little jabs you could take at UNT, but at least the greatest successes that we have achieved in our history as a program, we did not have to cheat to get there. Have we ever been ranked #2 in the country, of course not; but cheating is the only reason SMU was. No matter what SMU achieves in the future, they will NEVER be able to shed that black mark in their history. Thankfully SMU decided to grow a pair and schedule us in the future...it is in 2012 or 2014 when the series starts again...I can't wait, and when you come, I HOPE YOU HAVE TO SIT IN THE WINGZONE!!6 points

I guess Ivy League grad work was only able to carry me so far and in the end my poor, under-achieving state school upbringing shone through. Now do tell...since you seem so keen on have reasonable discourse...what elicited your joining our little, impoverished community of North Texas students and alum and interjecting your thoughts on our discussion of SMU? Did you feel left out? Inadequate, perhaps? Like not being able to get it up for a hooker and bludgeoning her to death before she could laugh at you? Just trying to gauge your rationale.4 points

I'll have a go, champ. I don't pretend to have read through every thread...especially on the football board during basketball season...but the general consensus I've gotten is that the vast majority of posters on here have the utmost respect for TCU, Patterson and everything he has accomplished. Many gushed over the idea of bringing Franchione, in large part due to witnessing the foundation he laid in Ft. Worth. I think the bulk of us wished TCU success this season...and I'd bet even more pulled extra hard for Auburn or Oregon to lose their last games, if for no other reason than an utter hatred of the "Big 6" schools. Myself, I grew up in Ft. Worth walking distance from Amon Carter...and spent many a Saturday watching LT rack up 300 yard games on the likes of San Jose State. I like TCU...I think at worst you'd have people on here in different towards TCU...but I'm sure there have probably cropped up a few negative sentiments toward TCU on here. I think the biggest reason for that may be...wait for it... THE FACT THAT THIS ISN'T A FUCKING TCU FAN BOARD AND THERE DOES EXIST THE POSSIBILITY THAT PEOPLE FROM OTHER SCHOOLS MAY NOT LIKE YOU FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. Ya know...especially if you're a douche-y representative of that school...like you.4 points

I have a few ideas... 1. Improve our facilities. 2. Hire a consultant who knows his way around the NCAA and conferences. 3. Improve our record. How? By hiring a coach who has taken a team from the bottom to the top before. 4. Have an administrator who has worked with the NCAA before and even helped form a conference. 5. Improve revenue by going to the student body for support. 6. Get support from the administration/BOR to commit resources to afford the move to a better conference.4 points

I had some free time the other morning so I decided to make a spreadsheet for calculating the basketball attendance averages for the Sun Belt teams. The averages only count "true" home games, and not attendance for tournament games played at neutral sites. We are in second place averaging over 3,600, but are nearly 1,000/game behind WKU. If anyone wants this excel spreadsheet, just send me a PM with your e-mail.3 points

Remember the kicker that followed Iseed Khouri? I think he's name was Housbin Farteen. Man, wish we still had that old Iranian connection. Those two could kick and Farteen could blow the roof off the place.3 points

Has TCU been put down that much on this board? Heck, we have a good number of TCU fans that post here. Most threads regarding TCU have been about how they deserve a shot at the title. That said, why are you in a thread about a documentary regarding SMU?3 points

You have way too much faith in Congress to do anything about this. They would have already done something over the course of the last 20 years if they wanted to. Most congressmen have degrees from BCS schools or live in states where the BCS brings in a lot of money from the big state schools that have large programs that are well funded. If Senator Cornyn goes after the BCS, the big $$$ that Texas, A&M, Tech, Baylor, and now TCU would throw at his opponent would be staggering. If you don't believe this, then ask yourself why a PUF endowment still only gives money to UT and A&M every year, even though there are dozens of other public universities in Texas? The answer is that the legislature is dominated by Longhorns and Aggies. Congress has proven many times over the years that they may pay lip service to this, but the big schools have all the power and sway with them, too. And if the top 60 BCS-AQ teams left the NCAA to form their own coalition, I can guarantee you that their tax-exempt status wouldn't change a bit. As a matter of fact, you would start hearing how this is good for competition with the NCAA. The monopoly argument that would get put out there by ESPN, Fox, CBS, and other media and politicians will center around the NCAA, not the AQ-BCS schools. It sucks big time, but those schools have the rest of the wannabe AQ schools by the short hairs.2 points

Man, this is a great idea. Do you have any credible ideas on how to convince ANY other league to take us away from the SBC? If so, what would it be? You have any way to convince SMU to let us join a conference with them when they have already blackballed us from their current conference by openly backing a La Tech bid to join CUSA? How about an idea on how to convince the MWC to go ahead and just get us as their next expansion team right now? Surely, you have the ideas that will get us out of the SBC, since you rail on that league in every single post you make and act like changing conferences is just the easiest thing to do for UNT. If you don't have anything in the sort of credible ideas to get out of the SBC, I am going to recommend that you think about it more--and post about it less...2 points

And college football is still dirty. From Reggie Bush to Cam Newton to who knows who else... the fact is that part of the reason the powerhouses remain powerhouses is because of boosters paying players. I love college football, but there is a lot wrong with the game. There needs to be some serious reform: Make booster payments to athletes a state crimeBan all agents who pay college players from representing NFL playersForce college players to repay scholarships if they enter any pro draft and forego graduation (they took an enrollment spot from a kid who wanted to be an engineer or doctor)Finish investigations faster. It's ridiculous the Reggie Bush investigation took so longSuspend college coaches who knowingly violate NCAA rules for 5 years2 points

About every 2 minutes.....the feed is lost for 10-15 seconds. As to the game....if Holmen, Edwards and Knox could just contribute something. The first half...as far as I can tell, the three didn't score, didn't grab a rebound.....and Holmen and Knox both committed two fouls (in less than a minute). Also, I wish JJ would tell Edwards and Holmen, that the next time either of them tries a "3"....he's gonna shoot them.2 points

With Penson and Robertson graduating, I hope we move Danny Prior back to linebacker. We have a need there.....would rather see him there, than at TE. (unless we plan on throwing to the TEs.....a lot more).2 points

This is the guy that Mike Nelson visited during our Open Date week (I think anyway). He's scheduled to be here this weekend.....but Vito says that we've rescheduled all of our visits for Dec. 10 (when Coach Mc will be here). Anyway that weekend Wright is scheduled to go to UTEP. Hope we get him in here....we need this guy: http://northtexas.scout.com/a.z?s=353&p=8&c=1&nid=48774892 points

To be fair, Harry's only been hosting an NT forum since the 90's. Maybe this was something someone wrote on a messageboard sometime in the 80's. Or the 70's. He could just have a very long memory.1 point

That doesn't mean that those two schools are going to the MWC. These conference realignment rumors change by the day, and there's no way to definitively say who has or hasn't been looked at until the invites are already extended. No one knew about Utah State being courted until they tried to burn the MWC and then got burned right back.1 point

New or existing conference? The pieces are coming together in place. More attendance and winning in football would help set the course for a moveup. Eventually though I see the BCS Top 60 splitting off from the Bottom 60 and forming basically another 1-A and 1-AA all over again....over $$.1 point

This is a lot like recruiting. NT has certainly won the beauty contest but no one will know how good the coach is until he actually wins some games. It is very nice time to be a fan of NT, who should become the Bully of the Belt. NT now has resoures second to no other school in the Belt.1 point

Keep winning the coaching battles and recruiting battles and the games will follow. We are taking the right steps.1 point

We've got 3 coaches on our staff that could be the head coach at any other school in the Belt except maybe Troy. Wasn't even close, and let's hope this is the start of more, "we beat the rest of the belt in ____, and it wasn't even close." Still rather say we won the conference championship rather than we won the off-season head coaching hiring battle.1 point

Did Unt Win The Off-Season Head Coaching Battle ? We won by a landslide for sure!!!!! DMac is in a league above the rest of the Belt. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!1 point

Just finished watching the documentary. I was too young when all this happened, but I can't believe how bad the corruption was at SMU. They deserved every bit of punishment they received. I was completely shocked at how they turned around the whole story at the end just to make themselves seem innocent, but I expect nothing less from a film made by an SMU alum, for the SMU fan base. I hope McCarney gets our team together so we can really stick it to SMU when we play them next. My disgust for SMU and everything they stand for has tripled....especially Craig James.1 point

Football Scoop is reporting that Coach Mc talked to Atif Austin about being our RB coach. He has coached in college, played for McCarney at Iowa State....and is currently (I believe) the head football coach at Tarpon Springs, Fla. Hansen was the reporter who confronted the SMU staff with the famous envelope. As to how much involvement he had in the actually investigation that led to that moment is unclear to me.1 point

Everyone was cheating! A&M wrote the book. SMU went down because of the media wars in D/FW. I'm happy to name names and what guys got at A&M.1 point
