Is it bad that after the game I was at a red light and a homeless man comes up to me and ask for some spare change because he says he's had a rough life and I tell him he's got nothing on me , I'm a UNT Mean Green Fan. He laughed and threw me a nickle5 points

Is it bad that at this point I actually hope for a UNT loss in the short run in hopes of the health of the program in the long run? Good night Todd.4 points

If you wanted to be real, you would understand that this team was 5-32 entering this season and had not won back to back games in the Dodge era. Funny how you assume that the talent we had before the injuries would have magically blown out these first three conference opppnents when the same talent last year lost to all three. Dude, please just admit you were wrong and give everyone some peace.3 points

I walk into these games with no hope or expectation for a win. I'm just going through the motions now.3 points

...that i walked out of Fouts tonight and wasn't even mad?....what does that tell you about the current state of our program.2 points

I don't know that a team that loses to Rice at home could have immediately assumed it was ahead of MTSU, FIU, ASU, or ULL.2 points

Come on man, that was 5 years ago. Dodge probably didn't even make that decision. I am sure that RV told him - we want as little to do with Dickey ball as possible, rid us of this poison. The guy did end up going to play somewhere else (I think it was West Texas State?)... Dodge had his hands full with trying to figure out how to become a college football coach, he has one bad PR move from his first month on the job - i will never count the pot smoking and "racism" stuff as a Dodge problem... those were problems that Dodge FIXED when he came to town - I think we can cut him some slack. You have no idea how out of control this program was, unfortunately we lost a life because it was so out of control. He is about to be fired and he is choosing to take the high road when talking about his employer - that is integrity bro. He is taking responsibility for what a head coach should - the W's and L's. And there was no way to tell how many kids would show up from that first recruiting class. Hindsight is definitely 20/20 but is it really neccesary to be bitter about every aspect of Dodge? Outside of the wins and losses, he is a very good man. You can say a lot of things about him - but don't try to take his good name from him.2 points

What a contrast to the Dickey ramblings when the writing was on the wall. Dodge is taking full responsibility, completely accepting that the job is (in the end) about winning football games, and NOT bad mouthing the school or the AD. I remember reading crap in the paper every week before and after the DD firing about what a miserable job the NT coaching gig was, how the admin was impossible to work for, how it was the "toughest football coaching job in the entire country" and so on and so on. Hell, I am sick of losing but I would really love to just reassign Dodge for his final year. We will have to pay him anyway. Reassign him to some QB coach or even something in the AD office - or maybe raising funds for the stadium - or put him on the radio. People have joked and called Dodge the Vic Trilli of football. You know, that is actually a pretty good comparison - and should be taken as a compliment. Tik Vanilla went on to be an Athletic Director at another college and is doing just fine. Dodge really knows how to say the right things.2 points

Just for the record, we have 8 ships total to give. 6 graduating seniors, 1 that should have been RJ McGhee if he'd been willing to go to class, and 1 that used to be Mangrum but never got filled. This is commit number 4. Williams is a tall 3, Brandon Walton is (given the other 2 HS commits and the continued presence of Alzee) a 2, and Jones and Norris should both be able to play 1. I'd say we're probably planning/hoping to spend 3 of the remaining 4 ships on post players (given what's left in the HS ranks, 2 JUCOS and one HS?) and the final one on an outside player with some size.2 points

There is a plan forming to hold a fundraising event involving the basketball team and breakfast. What we would like to know is how much interest there would be in such an event and what price range you are willing pay. So here is the rundown: -Event at the Gateway center October 30 starting at 9am -A full meal will be served -Members of the basketball team including coaches will be on hand -A raffle drawing would be held for prizes, such as an autographed basketball Would you show up for that event? Would $20/person be a reasonable price to pay?1 point

Please see bolded and underlined text. That said, the coaches. We have won 6 games in 3 and some change seasons. There is little evidence to support the idea that the coaches have been doing a great job.1 point

Let's face it, he's not CUSA material, but a "good pickup for UNT." He woulda never played at that powerhouse on the hilltop. I wonder which of their assistants was high on him only to have Doh not really offer?1 point

We may as well just rename our "wildcat" trick play the "False Start Formation", because I can't remember a time this season when we tried to send the QB out to a receiver position that we didn't false start or get a call for illegal motion or some other damn thing. But I do remember at least 5 or 6 times we tried to run it and got a pre-snap penalty.1 point

Now, that, for certain is bad. Team (players and coaches and RV, etc.) need our support now as the Mean green nation endures this very tough season of injuries and losses. I don't blame you are anyone for being frustrated, mad, disappointed, sick, etc., etc. I doubt nthere is any Mean Green fan happy with the way the season is going, but that does not mean that these players are giving up. I see no "give up" in the players, so I am not going to give up on them. I encourage all members of the Mean green Nation to stay behind this team, to come tailgate and come to the games...if for no other reason that you ARE a Mean green fan and you support the players in the efforts they are all making to fight through this season. Please give it another thought...and all fans, please do not give up on these players. They haven't given up on you!1 point

Brandon McCoy didn't even put his helmet on until about the 6 minute mark left in the 4th quarter. What did he do, let a cuss word slip or something so he had to sit this one out? Unbelievable this group. Just unbelievable. Rick1 point

My suspicion is that the discipline problem is him telling the coaches he can play better than the guys they have on the field. Not enough yesmanship.1 point

Is it bad when the side judge turns around and looks at the head coach expecting him to call a timeout and he doesn't? And then said head coach waits another 10 seconds or so to call a time out.1 point

1) Suffice it to say, I can always tell when certain people's 24 hour minus clock resets. 2) I'm ninjafacing as hard as you are on that one and I hope one (or more) come through for us... But I won't count any transfers until they show up on campus.1 point

Is it bad that for the first time ever I went to the deck and drank and never made it to my seats. I BSed with friends and didn't really watch the game much. I felt better when I left then last week. A great day of tailgating for my group. Thanks to everyone who stopped by1 point

Is it bad that I'd rather the game be so out of reach early so that I can leave, rather than hanging around within a possession until the very end only to see us lose again?1 point

We shouldn't be behind the Summit, the Ivy, the America East, the Big West, or the Ohio Valley conferences. That gets us up to 19th, and that shouldn't be an issue. I also think we shouldn't be behind the Big Sky or the Southern conferences. That would put us at 17. Any lower than 17 or 18, and they're relying too heavily on last year's RPI results. They don't seem to be doing that so far. We ought to be a coin flip for 17th and 16th with the MAAC. That's fair and legit based on a down year (RPI wise) last year and the past 5-6 years collectively.1 point

Dunn has been suspended from school. I don't think Drew is trying to sweep this under the rug. There are real talks that Dunn will likely be expelled. The issue is this: Legally, this will probably go down as a misdemeanor. The victim (and only witness) is not wanting to press charges and not cooperating with anyone trying to push charges. It will be very difficult to press aggravated assault charges given the evidence and lack of witness cooperation in doing so. Thus, he'll probably accept guilt on a misdemeanor charge just to get it over with. I mean, I suppose he could fight it for longer, but why? From the university's standpoint, this is a major violation of university code. It is certainly a suspendable offense and could very likely result in expulsion. I have mixed feelings on this whole thing. From what I was told, the situation was that they had an argument and Dunn tried to walk away numerous times and she kept grabbing him and pushing him around and finally he just snapped. If it was truly the first time this has ever happened in their relationship (they've been together for 10 years), then it's possible that she feels a bit guilty that she continually provoked him when he was trying to walk away. That doesn't make what he did ok, but you can see why she would perhaps be trying to protect him a bit if that was the case. And if so, I would be in favor of heavy suspension (say, no non-conference games) and then let him play the rest of the his senior year and be done. On the other hand, is this in an outward sign of a bigger inner problem? He has no track record of violence or any other run-ins with the law, but if this looks like one of those deals where he is only sorry because of the consequences (and not because of his action), then I would get him out. And her credibility is hard to establish since she could just be looking at the money side of things. If this is the situation, then I want him out. At the end of the day, it's a no win. If you let him play, even after a lengthy suspension, people would say he should be expelled. However, if you kick him out, others will be mad that you kicked out a guy with a clean record other than a misdemeanor.1 point

Are you implying that a Baylor basketball coach might attempt to obfuscate the truth and misrepresent the circumstances of a criminal act to police? Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think that would ever happen.1 point

Just as long as we bank enough to keep JJ with a contract in the $500k range, in case we need to. I can understand losing him for more than that, but not less.0 points

Well... He played one down at DE and got an immediate sack. You do realize that demanding someone "prove" what a player can do when the entire argument you're fighting is based on the lack of utilization of said player is ridiculous... Right?0 points

I worked with a guy that was one of Dodge's assistants pre Southlake. He thought that he was going to be fired and started looking for another job, then Dodge tells him he won't be fired, he gets offered a job by another school and turns it down thinking that his current job is safe only to be fired by Dodge before the end of the school year. Classy guy indeed.0 points

People who think Dodge has always been classy at UNT need to read about the Dickey recruit whose scholarship was not honored. The kid didn't even get a call from Dodge. His coach is still pissed off about it. When Dodge goes back to high school where he belongs, I hope their teams meet.0 points

Classy response from a class act as a father, as a coach and as a human being. Say what you want about his tenure here at UNT, but he is a fine man and one that I would have been proud to call "coach". ...and friend!0 points

It doesn't matter whether she wants to press charges or not, it isn't her decision. As far as the "what I hear", I am sure the right rumors are being spread, possibly even by her friends at her request. This guy is willing to lie to police and prosecutors, have his girlfriend lie to police and prosecutors, and come up with one of the dumbest, most 3rd grade stories ever in order to save his own hyde. That is enough for me to expell him if I was the school administration. Throw on top of that he struck a female hard enough to break her jaw and I hope the kid has to pay his way through college without an athletic scholarship. As far as him not being an NBA commodity, I have seeen several preseason articles picking him to be a high 2nd round NBA draft choice. Please don't tell me you are looking toward TU for you moral compass. You don't know how many times Dunn punched her as that information was not released. Look what the TU player did without breaking his girlfriend's jaw. Now imagine the force it took to break this girl's jaw. Don't believe a thing he or she has to say at this point as they are in complete damage control. I really don't have anything against Drew, and think he is doing what any other big 6 coach would do. I'm just still ticked that J'mson Morgan didnt do the right thing. But who knows, maybe this girl ends up dead and dumped in a field-1 points
