let's hold off on the idea of an FCS team until after we see how pathetic the attendance is over the next two weeks. plus, many people already consider us to be in FCS ourselves. if we start playing games against that level of competition, it would only further that perception.1 point

According to Rivals....a certain school in Dallas also offered him. Of course, now they'll say they never wanted him...right Hoop Man? http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Chris-Jones-993881 point

That's great that you care about both. How many others are like you, though? My guess is not many who attend a COM event would consider going to a football game and vice versa. When the administration and faculty and town have mostly supported the COM over the athletics dept., you see why you get posts like the one you responded to earlier. I wish it wasn't about either/or, but it usually is about either/or when it comes to UNT and Denton.1 point

* In addition to having leased 28 of the Alamodome's 36 luxury suites, UTSA is up to roughly 4,000 season tickets sold since sales went public earlier this month, Hickey said. and some will say, how can that be since they have not played a down of football yet?1 point

As much as the admins try to discourage publicity for anything other than that damn music school, location will always bail out UNT. The town is just as much of a problem as the admins. Arlington fronted over $400 million to make a billionaire (Jones) richer because they could see the long term results while Denton ISD spent $30 million to try to keep UNT from having a stadium. The stadium currently under construction at UNT could have been easily shared and Collins never would have had to be built but as always Denton is in one corner and UNT in the other. The result is extra costs to the taxpayers of Denton and a hardship for fundraising at North Texas. If UNT was in Lewisville or Frisco we'd probably be in the Big 12 by now, but little "d" will always cling to its old ways until enough forward thinking people move in and throw out the old guard. Even with the recession growth north from DFW continues to speed toward Denton. Only good can come of that.1 point

Yeah, Dodge definitely should have known that we would have 3 QB's with season ending injuries. Vizza is a quitter, nothing he could have done about that. Vizza doesn't quit and Derek Thompson or Riley is our 4th string QB and we are fine - until our 4th string QB goes down for the season as well. In fact, Vizza doesn't quit and THompson doesn't lose his red shirt last season.1 point

I really don't want to listen to the game on the radio over the internet. Go Mean Green!!0 points

Without two of our starting players on offense the Mean Green got it's first win in the Weatherford Optimist 3rd/4th grade flag football league today with a win over the Giants, 18-6. GO MEAN GREEN! Rick0 points

We shouldn't be behind the Summit, the Ivy, the America East, the Big West, or the Ohio Valley conferences. That gets us up to 19th, and that shouldn't be an issue. I also think we shouldn't be behind the Big Sky or the Southern conferences. That would put us at 17. Any lower than 17 or 18, and they're relying too heavily on last year's RPI results. They don't seem to be doing that so far. We ought to be a coin flip for 17th and 16th with the MAAC. That's fair and legit based on a down year (RPI wise) last year and the past 5-6 years collectively.-1 points

So, Okie Lite as some like to call it pulled away pretty good in the second half I would say. And "Okie Lite", maybe, but how would you like UNT to be 5-0 at the moment and probably leading the nation in scoring average? OSU played a very poor fist half which seems to be normal for the season, but watch out 2nd half. Seems the OSU coaching staff has a way of making some excellent adjustments at half. Anyway, OSU got the win and now head into the meat of their conference schedule. Nebraska and OU in Stillwater this season, but not sure the 'Pokes can overcome bad first halfs against the likes of Neb. and OU even if they are playing at home. How about taking over an hour to play the first quarter??? Ugh. Anyway, OSU got a win on the raod in a game they should win...and did. We'll see what happens the rest of the way, but I would really love UNT to be 5-0 like the 'pokes are right now! GO MEAN GREEN....beat "Arkie Lite".-1 points

I stopped by the stadium yesterday(Damn it's fantastic to see!) and spoke with officials about stadium donations and wanted to clear up a couple of misconceptions I learned about I think that are floating around. If there are others post them here and someone can probably answer them. For one, if you are a current season ticket holder and, like I was, having concerns that for next year your going to get priced out of your seats, that simply IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. There will be a slight increase as I'm certain everyone understands due to the overall facility upgrade, but they will not be significant to the point you cannot keep your current seats. So please, if your holding out a donation because your worried about having to save up for that BIG increase next year, please donate now and get on board with this project. It does not matter how much you give, just give what you can. Second, again, it does not matter what you give. If your holding out your donation because you simply don't feel what you can give will make a difference, NOT TRUE AT ALL. Every amount counts. We have the power in numbers at North Texas. There is a bland UNT billboard on east I-30 in Fort Worth right now that simply reads(paraphrasing of course) "94,000 alumni work in the DFW metroplex". I'm hearing that number rises to over 150K when considering outside of the DFW area and around the 5 state region? If everyone of them simply gave just $100 we would be making a huge difference overall. So please give what you can. Three, if you are wanting club seats but are concerned about your seats being inside and don't want to sit inside, again NOT TRUE AT ALL. The Club seating IS outside, in the weather. But you will have access inside behind the glass. This is similar to what KajunRaider and the boys have at MTSU, only nicer. You'll have access to someone coming down and taking concession orders plus a damn nice indoor facility to retreat to whenever you want, and there are some incredibly great prices for what is included in this package. Four, if you do purchase Club seats, and when the stadium host other events such as concerts, you as a Club seat owner will have first right of refusal for that event. This is a fantastic option for what you get. I know there probably are more concerns out there and the AD dept is collecting them all for an informational FAQ that hopes to be out this Fall. If you have one share them here or give the AD dept a call and let them know. Folks, I know times are tough right now and this is asking everyone to go above and beyond what you normally do for this school. But this is the biggie for North Texas. THIS IS IT! If there ever was a time to go above and beyond, THIS IS THE TIME. Give whatever you can and get on board now. You'll feel great that you did and next year when you walk into that beautiful stadium with your family and kids/grand kids you can show them what you helped build with Mean Green pride. If you have any questions or concerns at all I suggest you get them answered by calling Cooper Jones at 940-369-8268 or 502-544-9001. Rick-1 points

I agree about the stadium. However, when Dickey was here, we wouldn't have filled the stadium, and DD did nto coach to win OOC games, unless it was Baylor or SMU and his job was on the line. With Dodge, we would pack the stadium, but how competitive would we be?-5 points
