They started to light the tower green but the bulbs broke. Then they put in the backup bulbs and they broke almost immediately also. Havn't seen such a rash of season ending broken bulbs in a long time. I blame the maintenance staff for not going out and getting suitable back-up bulbs and having them ready to play, I mean light.5 points

Gotta give this team a lot of respect. Like the '01 team in the 6th week of the season, this team had every reason to lay down, but instead stepped up and answered the call. Very proud of you guys for hanging in there. Rick4 points

I'm amused at the people on this board that predict that we win 90% of the games we play and basically say "I told you so" when we win the few that we have. They fail to realize that they are wrong the majority of the time. Nonetheless, this win is a breath of fresh air for us all. Something finally went right for the Mean Green. Let us not be overly zealous though and keep expectations high, hoping that this is one of many more this year. Just because we squeeze this one out, Dodge should not be even close to off the hook and neither should RV... especially with such a bogus/waste of paper report that came out this week.4 points

I admit I was one who just didn't believe that this team was capable of this kind of performance on the road... I was dead wrong and I am glad to say so to the world... They kept mistakes to a minimum and executed an offensive game plan that had FAU totallly off balance at times... Hats off to the players and coaching staff... See everyone at Fouts 6:30 next Saturday... Well done men, well done...!!4 points

when praying to the Almighty let's take it serious. We have our young men out there that's not only playing for fun,but some of them plan to make this sport their future.3 points

Welch, I think people just want to be happy for a change. We all understand the overall picture. But, there is a silver lining. We now have an offensive coordinator who is tailoring the game plan to the players he has week-to-week instead of insisting the we run the spread come hell or high water as in year's past. If Canales keeps planning and coaching us to our strengths, we could break even or do better in the Belt. Remember, Dodge is no longer coaching the QB, drawing up the game plan or calling the shots. That in and of itself had many of us believe, pre-injuries, that this thing could be bowl worthy. With the injuries, and with Canales doing what he did yesterday, we could still do well in conference. And, to me and others, we'll take that improvement and look forward to 2011.3 points

Ummm, I'm happy with the win - but I'm not "on" the the train after 1 win. I AM rooting for him to succeed tho3 points

Move the "I'm Not Saying" thread into the Hall of Fame forum. We're 0-3 with it wallowing in UNT News Forum. Make the change and we win Saturday.2 points

Right now, I just want to win a second game. We can do that next weekend - this team has shown they have the ability to win. Once we win our second game, then I just want to win the third. If we win enough games, Dodge will get another year. If not he won't.2 points

OMG, why didn't the rest of us think of that? On a serious note, keep in mind that there is a big difference between "getting a win" and "winning".2 points

you realize fau was only 2 inches from a completion on the 2 yard line for the win and unt would be at 0-4. lets see how the next 3 home games go before we get all excited about a bowl.2 points

UT-Austin would finish dead last in the Sun Belt. Someone pull the plug.2 points

Hell.... I wanna know why we're not talking about the special teams. No kickoffs out of bounds. Not a single block in the back. Atterberry a 54 yard punt into the wind. Regularly kicking the ball inside the 5 on kickoffs with one into the endzone? That is progress.2 points

Great win for a team that could have mailed it in after all the injuries. Instead, the players and coaching staff stepped up and recorded a great win. Congratulations to the team. They were WAY overdue.2 points

Lets not forget that Canales and the Offensive Staff wins on the road 21 Points, with QB#3 and 10 offensive Players out..... That says a lot about these coaches. The Gamaplan Preperation Execution And Most Importantly Making these Kids Believe they could Win on the Road and in Conference. Great Win... Now lets remember how this feeling feels... To Win.... Go Mean Green!!!1 point

My boy Riley Dodge did a fine job. He didn't have to throw the ball a whole lot, but that's not a bad thing. A very respectable 10 of 15 for 146 yards, 2 TDs and 1 int. He had 11 rushes for 67 yards. That's 6.1 yards per carry. Best of all, he led the Mean Green to a W. We're all proud of you tonight, Riley--you da man!! I want to give kudos to several other players, but I'll let their "proud parents" do that.1 point

When reading about how well our running game did last night, and how well it has done against Clemson and Rice, I have to say GREAT JOB OL! And for putting together a very functional OL for last nights game.....WAY TO GO COACH BRYANT! http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=9051&SPID=562&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=204972609&Q_SEASON=20101 point

http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=205000741 Both the men's and women's teams dominated the annual home meet this weekend (8k). It was not the most competitive of meets but sure did have some good runners involved. The women should take pride in beating SMU, who usually dominates this meet. The women took the top 2 spots and the men's Patrick Strong took the top spot beating the 2nd place runner by a minute (impressive!). The women's team looks strong this year but the men's team is not as deep as it has been in the past few years. I think the new coach is really going to do well with this team in the coming years. I look for both teams to place in the top 2 of conference next season. He has had no time to recruit or develop this season.1 point

I'm gonna try and get another direct defense response from Troy...and without a $10 subscription fee... 37%...ain't a sharpshooter. Balls in your court, Troy1 point

Things that jumped out at me from the stat sheet:: Time of possession in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters. UNT dominated with 11:30 in the 2nd, 9:36 in the third, and 10:06 in the 4th. Great job by the D to get them off the field and by the O to have clock eating possessions to keep them off the field. Penalties: 3... Great job. 'nough said. Allowed 3.5 yards per carry. Remember, this rush defense was TERRIBLE last year. Great job by the DL and linebackers. I don't know what the future holds for this team and I still don't know how they can overcome all the injuries that have occurred, but a big congrats go out to all the players, who unlike many of their fans (including me), didn't give up on this season. Way to fight, guys. See you next week.1 point

Well they have us ranked higher than Troy, so my guess is it's not worth a steaming pile of Burrowing Owl Poo, but it's nice to see!1 point

Dude. Really? Out of the 10 teams in the PAC-10, six of them would take anyone in the Sun Belt, home or away. In most recent years and especially this year any Sun Belt team would be dogs to Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, or USC. Five of those six teams are top 25 teams as of this week. Washington State is pretty bad, but they're not Western Kentucky bad. This year Arizona State would beat nearly anyone in the Sun Belt. I don't get how people think the PAC-10 is some slack conference. This year, the Big 12 is more slack than the PAC-10.1 point

And the field goal attempt was only PARTIALLY blocked, not slapped back in their face ! Woo-Hoo for Progress !1 point

Congratulations to Coach Dodge and Mean Green players on this excellent win! Many counted you all out, but you refused to lie down. And you won despite the incredible number of injuries. Now go win the Belt!1 point

I can not say how much, right now, that this feels like 2001. This team, missing 10 starters, rises up, and just like Todd Dodge just said, "played their asses off!" I am so happy to go through a tight game, and come out on top! There guys must feel incredible right now! I am very proud to be a NT fan! At the end of the day, all the players out, all the crap, we are 1-0 where it counts, conference play. On top of that, we have 3 in a row at home! Go MEAN GREEN!!!1 point

The boys needed this. The fans needed this. The coaches needed this. Lets enjoy it.1 point

He's more of a true PG than Jon Scheyer was. Sometimes it's more about what you can do when pressed into service. Was Scheyer even one of the best 10 best PG's in terms of being a true PG? He didn't even play the position until about the last 5 games of his junior year, and despite an excellent assist to turnover percentage, rarely looked like a world beater. Ask Duke is they would rather have had Scheyer or John Wall. Josh is probably going to go down as one of the best 20 players to ever play at NT when all is said and done. I don't give a crap if he's neither a true PG or a shooting guard. Kid is a winner.1 point
