I try to switch over to KNTU on the drive home to listen to their news program hoping to hear some coverage of UNT football. I have been listening here and there the past couple of weeks and have not heard any mention of the UNT football during their sports coverage at 5:45. Today I thought for sure the evening before the home opener they would at least mention the game. Today they talked about high school football, pro football, baseball, the World Basketball Championship, first round of the PGA tournament, tennis and absolutely nothing about UNT football. Considering that not only is KNTU owned by UNT, but also covers the games, you would think that they would at least mention the game during their sport segment. We can't even get our own radio station to cover the team. Amazing. And yes, I already sent them an email.1 point

I'm thinking we should have our 2011 home opener against Washington State, but have it the new Jets/Giants Stadium. Thoughts?1 point

I think that it's incredibaly sad (and very annoying) that a College radio station has to be contacted-badgered-nagged about providing coverage for IT'S OWN college football program. Once again I'll say....North Texas is not looked down upon by the general public because of it's win/loss record, but because of it's NEGATIVE CULTURE REGARDING SPORTS!1 point

Rice Comes to Denton North Texas will open at home against Rice Saturday. This will be the last home opener at Fouts Field. At the end of the season, we could potentially be looking back at this game to be the most pivotal. North Texas needs to win this game. UNT gained confidence with their performance in front of 75,000 fans in Death Valley. They need to build on that to beat Rice so they can travel to West Point with a 1-1 record to face Army. A potential win against Army and the Mean Green are going into Sun Belt play with a winning record. UNT and Rice recruit the same players. Let’s face it, UNT and Rice are fighting to stay out of the bottom rung of the Texas college football teams. If UNT avenges its loss to Rice from a year ago, and since they are about to move into new football facilities, this scenario could possibly sway some recruits to Denton over Rice. North Texas can win if they erase some of the mental mistakes that cost them momentum building drives. The defensive will not be facing the caliber players in Rice that they faced last week. That should amount to not giving up the big play. Tune, Dunbar, and company should see more time in the end zone this weekend. They have the talent. They will have the crowd. They should have the victory. Blog: DFW Football.net1 point

When you have a NFL caliber player knocking on the door @ some place like UNT there is no excuse to use ( timing , location). He's not the only player who wanted to come to UNT that didn't get noticed. There is a starting RB right now in the SEC who wanted a UNT ship , but failed to get one. There was a BIG X transfer on campus who never got on the field. If the Dodge era ends this year he has no one to blame but himself. That's the problem when we made this hire , that he would be learning while still on the job. Hopefully he can pull out of this disaster and get this program in the right direction. It all starts today !! BEAT RICE!!1 point

I think he should stand outside the stadium, rotating his arms, and generate all the electricity used on campus. Now that would get us some attention. In all seriousness, what GrayEagle said about the pretty decent kickoff returns thus far. And what UNT90 said about risk of injury. Ask Jim Fassel what he thinks now about having Jason Sehorn return kicks in 1998.1 point

This is the kind of game you live to play for (in my case, watch in person). Plenty of beverages and grub go along way but to WIN will cap off an incredible day.1 point

You can disregard Kate Hairopoulos' pick. She is an SMU homer; so she will almost always pick against UNT, and she will always pick C-USA over the Belt.1 point

I would also like to note some names in the Sunbelt that are up and coming in the RB spot. - WKU's Bobby Rainey put 155 yds against Nebraska last week with a TD as well. Take the 36 Passing Yds he also gained and you have a player over there. Expect big things from him this year and easily could contend with Dunbar for leading rusher in the Sunbelt if these numbers stay constant. - FAU has seemingly only Alfred Morris as anyone worthy of mention on the squad...and a big mention at that. He put 114 All Purpose yds up on UAB last week with a TD. I expect that Dunbar should easily outperform Alfred this year...though that shouldn't take away from the fact that Morris has skills. - Dallas native Phillip Tanner at MTSU put up 75 yds in 8 carries against Minny last week. I would imagine he will be seeing quite a few carries this year (at least early on)with the absence of Dasher. - Troy seems to have a large variety of RBs but hasn't found a true standout as of yet. - Ark State is in dire need of a truly skilled RB as its selection seems to lack talent this year. - ULaLa is in the same boat (if not worse) than both Troy and Ark State. - ULM and FIU are also lacking the RB department1 point

Hey hope everyone has a great time at the game, it should be a close game to the end and a must win OOC game for both Texas teams. Hope to see alot of RICE fans make the trip to Denton as well Please try not to leave the stadium after halftime, as in years past, we have a great turnout in big games, but when halftime hits, we have a mass exodus especially from the student side. So stick it out the entire game, it promises to close and exciting for all 4 quarters. Also any idea what attendance might be this coming Saturday? 25,600+ GO MEAN GREEN ( This video should get yall hyped) http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D_o31is7WbNU%26feature%3Dplayer_embedded&h=dddf61 point

Well, well, well.................look whos working hard to keep up with the Mean Green. Even TCU has been forced to upgrade their stadium. And people say they don't pay any attention to whats going on up in Denton. Yeah, sure. Nice stadium, but I'll take ours any day. Most of those 40,000 seats will look bad sitting there empty on game day. And very few university's have the beautiful area for tailgating around their stadiums that we will have around ours. The ponds, grass, trees, and view from the rolling hills. Man, game day at the new stadium is going to be something else. Ok, a rolling hill. Ok, a hill.1 point

You have a valid point but it doesn't hurt. I mean his daughter is coming to NT to get a great education so lets put the sports aside here. And no we aren't desperate but we could use all the pub we can get. If he was talking about his daughter going to say UT or Tech or some big school like that then you wouldn't even care. But because it's UNT, you have to have a negative comment about it. Look you're pissed at the Todd Dodge Era...nobody is happy believe me and if he sucks again this year then guess what, he will be gone. But you sound like a complete tool when you are mixing sports and new students/fans to the Mean Green family.1 point

Instead of assuming that the students on the KNTU staff are a bunch of people who wish they were at another school, it would be more productive to contact KNTU general manager Russ Campbell and tell him you'd like to hear more UNT football coverage. He's at russ.campbell@unt.edu. I've had dealings with him before and he's happy to hear from students and alumni.0 points

Hey guys, there may be a free video feed for the UNT vs. TT game tonight. I am not positive, but it does not say a premium membership is required, and does not ask for a login like the ones labeled "premium." Here is the link: Possible Game Video If that does not work here is a link to the live stats if anyone is interested: Live Stats Not sure if I am going to be able to follow this one tonight...the girlfriend wants to go to Clark Park for the Pep Rally. I'm not sure whether I would rather watch the soccer game or go to the Pep Rally. I may not have a choice. Go Mean Green!0 points
