  1. I sincerely apologize. I just over reacted to the start of the game. We have a legit football team this year. I wish I could remove my earlier post. I want Dodge to succeed. We are for real this year. When I am wrong I admit it. I was wrong.

  2. The game starts at 7pm. I don't believe SHSU has live stats, so hopefully they will keep the "Mean Green Soccer" facebook page updated. I almost made the trip down there, it just didn't work out. Anyways, the bearkats are 0-4 on the year, including a 6-0 loss to TCU. This should be another win for the Mean Green. Hopefully they save some energy for the Sunday game against the New Mexico Lobos/Ponytail Pullers.

  3. pace yourselves. the point spread did not jump from 19 to 25 because gamblers believe in dodge. it won't be ou or alabama bad but it could be bad. rice is a more realistic game. save the emotions for that.

  5. Yes, we lost. Yes, it sucks. I still say, having seen it live, we haven't "shown up" for a money game like this since 2002 at Texas. Sure, some will nitpick this game to death...and wrongly so. We moved the ball. We scored against the first team D. We gave up 4" and about 40 lbs on both lines...yet we fought until the final whistle. These things didn't happen in recent years. Lance went for 100 plus. Rice is in trouble next Saturday. I believe it, it's time you did too. 8 wins.

  8. Tune did a good job. He is our quarterback, we have to support him. Thompson will be awesome in the future for us. It's good to know that we will be in good shape in the future but we do have to stand behind Nathan.

  9. I saw a lot of things I really liked today. Besides the defense at times arm tackling, they held up fairly well. Secondary had a decent game although Cook of all players just looked sluggish at times with bad pursuit angles and missed tackles. I don't understand where the animosity towards Tune is coming from IMO dude played a good game and made a few mistakes against a very solid ACC secondary. The offense moved the ball all day long against this team and we like you said we have been completely embarrassed in these money games even when were playing terrible KSU teams. I am very optimistic about this season, very very excited for the Rice game, expecting a big turnout. I normally dismiss the whole "yeah but we out gained them in yardage" argument but look at the stats. 1st downs UNT 25 Clemson 15 3rd down efficiency UNT 11-22 Clemson 2-9 Total Yards UNT 462 Clemson 423 Passing UNT 269 Clemson 177 Rushing UNT 49-193 3.9 avg Clemson 25-246 9.8 avg Possession UNT 41:52 Clemson 18:08

  11. Yes, me too. We didn't give up! We finally looked like a real D1 football team. Could have been better but could have been worse. I am very proud of our players and coaches.

  12. Too cute...after my last post I told my kid about the latest plays in the last quarter and a half and told him we needed to tell them, "Good job, guys!"...and he responded with, "GREAT job, guys!". So I tried again, and he still said "great" instead of "good". What an awesome optimistic little Mean Green Man I have! If we could all look on the bright side like he reminds me to...wow. Whether it's your own kid or one of the kids on your team, they really do remind you that things are so awesome in your life, no matter how crappy they were before. Whether we win or lose today, can we follow my little man Carter and tell the kids wearing the Green and White that they did a GREAT JOB?

  13. Dodge's "little boy" blew away the competition in high school before a late-season injury followed by a collegiate one. No one could have expected that that would happen. We recruited the 2-time Texas HS player of the year and "crap" happened, but I really don't think Riley needs your BS to remind him of that. I'm scared as hell of the same thing happening but will let my own "little boys" make their own choices just like Todd did. Bad attitudes don't help young men develop into America's future, so please knock off the negativity. The rest of what you said, yeah, I agree. Let's just keep it to the normal commentary like the rest of what you said instead of dogging kids for getting injured, okay?

  21. Feeling better. Offense gave our defense 10 minutes to rest and kept ball away from Clemson. Only down seven. Maybe it was jitters. I hope! Too old, running out of time.

  26. The line right now (according to my ESPN app) is Clemson by 27. With where I think our team is, I would bet on UNT, even without the green kool-aid. Clemson is good, but like a lot of people have said, this opener is not OU or Texas. We have a real shot to give them a run for their money, or at least cause the Clemson fans that took the tigers on the spread to lose their money.

  29. Disregarding the hyperbole coming out of Ruston,a decision on a conference mate should be made on a logical basis; what is best for UNT. The pluses are that you would have a close conference mate with some tradition. The cons are that you may be throwing a life line to a recruiting competitor and would have a conference with two teams in a relatively small North Louisiana market. Plus the Belt really at this time does not need another team. The X factor is that La Tech has continually announced to the world that they would not be in a conference with ULM. So the whole question becomes moot because ULM is in the conference and is not going to be forced out by the conference. The facts are that La Tech is probably a bigger competitor than anyone in the Belt against NT for recruits. They have been very successful in part due to their perceived better conference, that is an advantage that is likely gone. La Tech compares favorably with some of the current Belt members, but in my mind would not be an above average athletic member. You can disregard all the incredibly stupid banner of their fans, but I do think their administration has proven less than admirable. In summary, I would not support La Tech admission at this time primarily because the Belt does not need another football team. In fact, I have nothing against USA but I wish the number of teams was kept as is. I like playing 4 oc games, and I don't like the idea of not playing all conference members. The Belt is far away from making a two division football league with championship game viable. If the necessity of another team arrives, La Tech if interested should obviously be considered.

  31. Sounds like losers to me. I grew up in Austin, spent my childhood and high school years going to Memorial Stadium (have probably seen more UT home games than most of their alums....though I do have graduate degrees from there). I could have gotten into UT (it was much easier in those days and I had good admission test scores), but didn't want to go to a university in my home town...so I picked North Texas. I have been a tried and true Mean Green fan ever since. Sure, I'll root for Texas against most teams, but my heart is with UNT. Frankly, I find North Texas sports much more interesting than watching a semi-pro franchise with all the money in the world backing it. Where is the challenge or enjoyment in that?

  32. Problem is, when you wake up in the morning and the booze has worn off, you realize that really HOT girl has severe horse face and the mamilary glands of a 30 year old milk cow. That girl that looked to be 22 at 2am in that dark bar now is showing her full 40+ years in the morning sun. After she leaves, her old boyfriend (the NCAA) calls to tell you that she has a veneral disease that takes 4 years to cure (NCAA violations). Have another shot of tequila. It's on me.

  36. I agree that if Dasher plays last night the Muts win. ALSO! I can't begin to express how fortunate we are that our stadium will be concrete. MTSU's stadium looked so high school on TV last night. We can all be thankful and proud that RV and those who played such a major role in getting us a new stadium didn't panic and go the route of MTSU and UCF. That concrete stadium gives us crediblity before we ever run our first play in that facility. Oh, how thankful we all should be.

  37. 1) Louisiana Tech denigrates our league and our conference mates at nearly every opportunity and, until the backlash popped up, flatly refused to schedule them in any revenue sport. Athletic Director made public statements to the effect that playing them was beneath La Tech. 2) Louisiana Tech bailed out on our league and very nearly sank Sun Belt football before it ever began. I'll leave it to ArkStFan to lay out the details on this one, if he happens to stop by. 3) Louisiana Tech actively blocked an SBC member (really, two potential participants when you consider 6-6 and also eligible Arkansas State) from participation in a football bowl game. Through threats and whining, they wound up playing Northern Illinois in Shreveport rather than ULL. Louisiana Tech... The school and it's administrators, not some group of annoying fans on the internet, has actively and repeatedly worked against our conference and our conference mates. As a conference, and as a collection of schools working together to achieve mutually desired goals and objectives, I think the Sun Belt members would think long and hard before considering Louisiana Tech for inclusion. On another level, as a strictly self-interested North Texas fan... What's bad for Louisiana Tech is good for us, in terms of potential C-USA membership. If and when openings pop up on the western side of that conference, the two teams mentioned more often than anyone are the ones who lost out to UTEP in the last round of expansion: UNT and LTU. Since then, La Tech's insistence on avoiding the SBC and playing a WAC schedule has limited their ability to upgrade their programs, especially compared to what we've been able to accomplish. The big example, our stadium, comes from an athletics fee that wouldn't be legal in Louisiana. But even beyond that, we've been able to accomplish things financially with our non-revenue sports facilities that they simply haven't had the resources to do (I vaguely recall something to do with tennis courts and another financial/infrastructure embarrassment along the same lines). They've done everything they can, such as installing a new jumbotron that you'll never stop hearing about if you ever come across their fans somewhere on the internet. But they're keeping pace and modernity with what they already had, and we're taking giant leaps forward. They're treading water, we're making tremendous progress (relatively speaking). If they have to suffer through even just two or three years of independence in football, it could potentially destroy the program. At the very least, it will devastate them financially and competitively. So, should UNT sponsor them? I can't think of a single reason why bailing out Louisiana Tech would benefit the University of North Texas. I can think of at least one powerful reason (watching a potential competitor for a C-USA spot drown in an ocean of their own making) why we ought to actively work to keep them out. It's probably a moot point, as I don't think they'd have enough votes to gain admission, anyway. The schools that would benefit the most in terms of travel costs (us, Arkansas State, ULL, and ULM) and would ordinarily push for their membership are the ones who likely have the strongest aversion to their inclusion. I think they'd need 8 our of 12 votes to get in, and I think all four of those would be strong "no" votes. If anyone else holds a grudge about the way they almost strangled SBC football in the crib (MTSU, I'm looking at you), then that's plenty to block them out entirely.

  39. This stuff is so stupid and overblown. Please keep the environmental boondoggles away from our new stadium. Even T. Boone Pickens is backpedaling on the cost effectiveness of wind power these days. Just keep that crap as far away from the stadium as possible. And, the neighborhood should be concerned: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/18/AR2006041801188.html "Along the coast of Nantucket, Mass. -- the only sufficiently shallow spot on the New England coast -- a coalition of anti-wind groups and summer homeowners, among them the Kennedy family, also seems set to block Cape Wind, a planned offshore wind farm." The cost benefits have never been proven. They are noisy. They look like crap. Even leftist biologists complain about the effect on birds; and, in another study, whales...although, that wouldn't be a problem in Denton (or, would it ). Look, if a solution seems too simple, it usually is too simple.

  40. I think the way most followers of Sun Belt hoops outside of Miami are viewing the FIU/Thomas situation is akin to your friend having a girlfriend that none of his buddies like. Sure, she's hot, but hot is really a dime a dozen...because of her our Friday poker game has a usual vacant seat, she's making you eat vegetarian and everytime we all go out for drinks she doesn't talk with anybody, stands impatiently with her Grey Goose and Cranberry (why she insists upon Goose with a mixer where you can't taste the vodka is beyond us)and asks you to go home at 11pm. We think she's wrong for you...but we don't see what goes on in the bedroom and when you two are off by yourself. Maybe she really gets you and encourages your artistic side. Maybe you guys will marry and live happily ever after and your friends will realize at the wedding that they were wrong... Or perhaps she is actually trying to mold you into her image of a mate, with complete disregard for your wants...she stifles your creativity and tells you that you need to stop bartending and settle down and get a real job, no matter how much you love your work. So, perhaps to please her, you take a 9-5 at an insurance company and are willing to sit through the misery for your perceived love, but she decides you're not the one and up and leaves you for a mortgage broker in Kansas City...yeah, effing Kansas City...leaving you in downward spiral of depression and alcoholism. Ya know...just off the top of my head...

  43. I was driving home and listening to Nate Newton talk about how Mack Brown isn't starting his son this year. His response to this was he should have went to a school like North Texas, because there isn't any competition there. I guess he doesn't realize that we run the ball quite well at UNT. We have had 2 running backs lead the nation in rushing, wasn't Lance 7th in rushing last year, and he wasn't our starter at the start of the season.
