Maybe it's YOU. With all the negativity in your post....I wouldn't watch the game with you if we were next door neighbors.6 points

Why do we constantly do this? Darrell Dickey was a good coach for his time here. Honest Mean Green fans will admit that he built up a program and took it places it hadn't been. He had health problems his last two seasons and, unfortunately, clashed with his boss and a fan base his success had spoiled. Todd Dodge was hired to pick of the pieces and rebuild. In three seasons, he hasn't done it. In year four, finally with the help of a full compliment of experience college coaches, I think he will succeed and take to the same heights Darrell Dickey once did. Also, for a coach denigrated here often for running too much, it's worth noting that Johnny Quinn, who played for Darrell Dickey all four seasons, is still the All-Time Sun Belt leader in receiving yards: http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sun-belt/leaders/rec-yds-player-career.html Just quit bickering about the two men. Be proud of the championships we won with Dickey and look forward to the ones we'll win with Dodge beginning this year. I've never seen a fanbase so opposed to acknowledging past successes as this one. So stupid.4 points

I like "The Green", as well. BTW...the trees in the area will be referred to as "The New Waterless Urinals."4 points

I know everyone's beating up on you, but you're welcome to watch the game with me in my garage. The door has to stay shut, the car will be running and I'll probably be 20 minutes late, but it should be pretty fun regardless.3 points

Who cares what Nate Newton thinks. His son was too small to play Big 12 ball, anyway. He'd be riding the pine here as well. Also, 103.3 and 105.3 suck it.3 points

class and tailgating certainly don't mix to me! while walking through the orange lot, i never think of class. plenty of places in the blue lot don't scream class either...beerman anyone??? why the focus on being classy??? IT'S COLLEGE FOOTBALL TAILGATING NOT THE OPERA!!!!!2 points

Go to http://assets.fbmta.com/clt/mggns/lp/join_brinker/join.asp?ruid=3203 and sign up. You'll be sent exclusive offers as well as receive $5 off your next visit at Chili's or $10 your next visit to Maggiano's.2 points

It has everything to do with Utah going into the PAC10,getting a guaranteed cool $10million a year just on TV deals, and an auto bid to a BCS bowl. BYU was left in the dust by their hated rival and are now trying to position themselves in a Notre Lame type spot for BCS acknowledgment. Also, they think they can make way more money televising their own games. The TV money thing is probably true, but a BCS exception won't happen, IMO. As for Utah St, I think it was just the MWC's way of punching the WAC in the gut, saying you're not going to corner the Utah market taking both the Cougs & the Ags. I guess no one realized Utah State had their heads shoved way up BYU's ass.2 points

Why should it matter what anybody at 103.3 thinks about us? Check the latest ratings... NOBODY listens to their crap anyway. The Ticket beats the lips off of both 103.3 and the Fan every day.2 points

If it makes everybody feel better, tre and I use to fight each other when we were younger and in taekwondo and one time I kicked him square in the mouth. That always made me feel better when he didn't choose North Texas.2 points

It should be the "Aerie" - the nest of a bird of prey, as an eagle or a hawk. (per Dictionary.com) It would also play on UNT History since this name was also used by the yearbook for many years.2 points

From everything I've seen, I think they are "leaning" toward making a play for Houston, but I am not convinced that Houston would accept. If BYU had stayed, I think they would have taken a long hard look at it, but without BYU, what's the point? Hmm. Lots to ponder.1 point

We had 2. Our only two national championships to be won in any sport. "The Green" is a very good name. A couple of definitions from dictionary.com for those that don't get it. Green - "grassy land; a plot of grassy ground." Green - "a piece of grassy ground constituting a town or village common." So if the area where our stadium stands is the Mean Green Village - The Green makes pretty good sense.1 point

so now our tailgating area could be named after golf??? i just don't get it, nor do i see the greatness of the name and why must we make a statement towards the environment? for the record, i don't recycle and really don't care about all the LEED stuff going on at the stadium except that it is drawing positive attention to the university. not trying to nitpick or argue, i just don't get it...1 point

It needs to be one word with a "the" in front of it. Classy, but a little slutty at the same time... just like I like my women.1 point

i'm in the minority and think that "the green" sounds kinda ghey. how do you meet at a color? i understand where the proposed name is coming from, but it sounds really generic and stupid....sorry kram! the yard is all i can think of and i'm not that excited about that suggestion...1 point

Lets just say that I love my school and I love basketball. I have been around high school basketball for a while, and I am tired of watching Baylor, Texas, and OU basketball. I am ready for D/FW to step up.1 point

I think it'll affect us......because other than Utah State, which I think mainly BYU wanted.....I don't see anyone else out in the WAC that the MWC would want. And I don't think they would want to stay at 10 teams. I see them trying to get to 12. Houston? UTEP? North Texas? Anyway....with this....there may be opportunities for us...in the MWC or CUSA. So I don't think this is a bad thing....but we'll see.1 point

...will be the brutal smackdown of FAU in Boca Raton the evening of September 25th. I think this will be the wake-up call to the Belt similar to OU's 63-14 beatdown of Texas in 2000 announced to the college football world that something different was happening in Norman. I think we will trash the Owls and put the Sun Belt on notice that we have arrived and are ready to take our crown back now that Troy has toyed around with it for awhile. This game will be the Shot Heard 'Round The Belt. UNT taking apart FAU in their own nest. We are the predators now, baby!1 point

I would have a hard time keeping a coach who is 9-39. Just can't see any coach ever holding on to a job like this unless that employer had low expectations. Such low expectations would make it EXTREMELY hard for anyone else to have buy in.1 point

Dickey could coach but was a public relations nightmare and was IMO a poor recruiter. Dodge wasn't anywhere close to being ready to coach fb division football but is a better recruiter and at least spins positive. Dickey's early Belt success was based primarily on better talent and a football philosophy that was great when facing inferior teams. I know the better talent and poor recruiting are counter intuitive, but somehow DD got that 2001 class that dominated the Belt. The class of Hall, Buckles, Gardner, Kennedy, Spencer, Brewster, Zuniga, etc. may have been the best class in NT history. Based on the success that class spawned, DD though not ever coming close to matching that talent was able to add enough to keep NT successful till that group finished. Point is, if NT had a coach with Dickey's knowledge and Dodge's work ethic and public relations skill, they would have a good coach. Dodge has one more chance for success and hopefully through a brutal learning process, he is ready.1 point
