  1. Family and I were in Denton today and stopped by the AC.

  2. I guess you don't get my point. These are employees, whether they are students or not. If I have to bring this up to management because they don't see it themselves, that is sad. A NT t-shirt cost a whole $15, that is too high to spend to ensure that each employ has NT apparel. Sorry but there are too many choices to watch the game, even in Denton, to be served by someone wearing a UT shirt at a NT game watching party.

  3. Are the waiters and waitresses going to be wearing UT shirts? Last year I went to a game at The Pourhouse and was in total shock at the girl waiting on our table wearing a UT shirt. I asked her why in the world she would do that. She said she always wanted to go to UT but was going to NT instead. I asked her if she thought at a bar/restuarant around UT campus the owner would allow employees to wear other schools shirts (especially if that establishment was promoting a UT game). She replied "probably not." If The Pourhouse doesn't fully support NT and allows this, sorry but I'm going to Varsitys in Frisco.

  4. Agree 110%. Regardless of the cost of a t-shirt because that's beside the point, and no matter who owns the establishment, you cater to your clientele. If it was an NT watching party I would assume this was known beforehand...therefore the UT shirt should/could have been vetoed well ahead of time because your customers are there to watch NT and be surrounded by all things NT. Furthermore, and perhaps more importantly, your question to this waitress " would you wear a North Texas shirt to a UT function?" is at the heart of the issue. UT fans wouldn't tolerate other school's apparel at Austin eateries...because they believe they are worthy of taking that much pride in their "turf.". They believe that Austin, if anywhere, belongs to UT. Why we continue to view our Alma mater and our alumni base as deserving anything less is far beyond me! Until we demand respect none will be simply given.

  5. (1) It pains me to the utmost to have to make a serious post. (2) To TCU fans, B-O-O H-O-O. What did you expect? You are playing a game at the biggest, newest stadium in America. I didn't hear OU or BYU fans complaining last year. If you want to be a big boy school, you pay big boy prices. (3) If you'd like, we'll lease out our new stadium to you next year on the weekends we aren't playing there and will make the ticket prices $35 dollars for any seat in the house. For $50, we'll let you sit with Todd Dodge and you can help him take notes on how Chico Canales runs a game.

  6. Thanks. I started out just wanting to mention a few things for the benefit of people who see this later and couldn't listen live, and it gradually morphed into more of a live transcript. If it's something people want (and I don't get any complaints from the AD's office, because this is technically an unauthorized reproduction of KNTU's broadcast content) I'll do a full live transcript whenever I have the time free to listen.

  7. It's hard for you WKU fans to know how loud The Super Pit is....since you haven't had to play there since 1982. Or so.

  12. I had the opportunity to tour the AC and view the new stadium from different angles this past Friday. These pictures that everyone provides are great and I do appreciate them so much but they just don't do the stadium site justice. I was one stating the home side didn't seem very steeply sloped. I was completely wrong, it will have a very nice steep pitch to it. Also, the webcam only shows a small portion of all the activity. There are probably 100 people working around the entire site. The student side can't be seen with the cam but it is coming along great. The field seems dug down in all these pics but in person, overlooking from the balconey of the AC, it is way down there. This is truly going to an amazing stadium. I got to walk around back and view the practice fields and area between AC and dorms, very nice facilities. I can honestly say that we have a good shot at getting most recruits that come to campus and view our entire campus. I drove around campus and damn near wrecked several times due to all the eye candy walking around, who said we don't have a beautiful campus or were they talking about plants and stuff?

  13. It's a riddle. The ex-girlfriend was his landlord. How can anyone neg that? Don't you guys like logic problems. Another thing about TCU...surely they don't think their ticket prices will remain the same after their $100+ million stadium revamp, do they? These things have to get paid for. I wonder how much the schools get in television revenue for the game. If it's more than they'd get for a normal home game, they may not give a crap about the ticket prices. It's already that way in pro sports. A friend gave me front row seats to a Stars game last year. I took my son. Price of the tickets $300 a piece. I enjoyed the game. But, I remember thinking to myself, would I be enjoying it if I'd pulled the $600 out of my pocket for it? My guess was probably not. First, my wife would kill me for spending that kind of money on anything that didn't come out of a women's clothing store. Second, what is the real price of "entertainment"? Everyone has a break point in their loyalty. I'll go watch the Stars for free. I'll go watch the Mavericks for free. Ditto the Cowboys. I wish them all well. But, I'm not a big enough fans to pay top dollar to see them. The concession prices are high and the atmosphere ain't my cup of tea...especially with the Mavericks. With your favorite college team, it's the same. You count the cost. But, you've got to remember that these days the decisions for the pricing of sporting events, for better or worse, do not come with the fan in mind first. It's a business. It's just become a business. And, television is money in the sports business.

  16. Giving up their Saturday? It's called a job. If they don't like working on Saturday then they should consider another job. If the Pourhouse, or any other bar for that matter, isn't smart enough to make sure their employees are decked out in Mean Green gear for a UNT watching party then they will have to deal with losing paying customers to other bars. We're not asking the wait staff to dye their hair green or name their first born Hayden. We're asking them to wear some Mean Green gear. My agreement goes to 111%.

  21. Hey guys, I'm a UNT Student and I work at KNTU. I just wanted to inform you that we will be doing a show called "The Green Guys", 90 minutes before every game on 88.1 FM or www.kntu.com. The show will lead into the normal pregame show with George and Hank. If you guys get a chance to listen feel free to give us any feedback or any suggestions and comments on here. Thanks a lot and Go Mean Green!

  29. If you've lost the ability to recognize playful sarcasm as heralded by the sunglasses guy, it is going to be a long season. I was only joking back with you. I never counted, but I bet you've only posted 200-250 times max. It was a big week for deep snappers and various local chapters of the exes, but it wasn't THAT big. He wears sunglasses because he's joking -- just like in the bible!

  33. The average ticket price in the Big 12 is much $20-30 higher than this game. They have spent 3 years demanding and proclaiming that they belong is this league. The prices suck, but that's what it costs to see OSU, A&M, OU, UT or anyone else play a premium home game against Slapdick State. Again, put up or shut up.

  35. Here's what he brings to the table: (1) He's coached in Clemson-type games, Kansas State-type games and can react to them. His biggest game plan hasn't been a high school playoff game. So, he's planned against the biggest and best at this level for a long time. (2) Tight ends who might actually be a threat to receive a pass. (Goodness gracious...was Darrell Dickey right about Draylen Ross being a tight end? The college coach we hired named Canales seems to think so. Oh, silly Todd Dodge & high school coaching staff...switching the poor kid around to the defensive line, then offensive line. You've got to recruit defensive linemen at this level, geniuses. You can't just flip a big body over there like in high school. Ding dongs. Thank goodness for coach Canales, yo.) (3) U-backs, to get every available talent on the field...to either run, catch, or block. A weapon. This is the Charles Clay-type back I talked about last year. And, to my credit, suggested using Micah Mosley in said roll - which Coach Chico was doing until Mosley was injured. Oh...oh...oh...dat Fake Lonnie...he do knows something about them footballs. Boooyah! (4) The quarterback under center on short down and distance and goal line plays. Hallelujah! We got a coach that recognizes we're not lining up against Grapevine and Saginaw! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-haw! (5) Grape nuts.

  37. Sorry bud, but not all Frogs are "are made up of the wealthy and privileged." My wife is a Horned Frog working for a nonprofit (married down to a UNT grad?); our friends and relatives who are Frogs are hard working folks in careers such as teaching, social work, and nursing. They sure aren't like the smugstangs over in Dallas. That said, $45 to watch a game at Jerry's world is just a sad commentary on the state of sports business and greed, but elitism is what built the stadium in Arlington and I guess he has to pay for it somehow.

  38. Never really understood students wearing other schools colors. They are basically advertising that they are sore losers who could not get into where they wanted to go. If they were smart, they would keep their "loserism" a secret.

  40. A waiter with half a brain working a UNT watching party should be smart enough to wear a UNT shirt if they wanted good tips. If UT was playing at the sametime & he or she had other tables in a different area then I can see why the waiter might wear a UT shirt Other news, play by play for the game will be Pam Ward & Danny Kanell

  41. A comparison are NFL owners who give their head coach the "vote of confidence" one week and then we read where said NFL owner fires their head coach the next week. Today's NCAA? Don't bet your next pay check on what is being said from college presidents or some athletic directors. There are some you probably can believe, but the upper echelon of the NCAA is about jockeying for position at the expense of your fellow conference-mates. The very reason UNT needs to to whats best for itself since no one else is going to help advance our cause or future. Our main sin(?) at UNT is that we didn't win a national championship back during the Depression and that we were not part of the "now defunct" Southwest Conference at any time of our history. Merely having 1 of those 2 (or both) seems to give some out there today some amazingingly undeserved and even unearned respect in my humble opinion. But...it is what it is and few seem to want to use other more sensible criteria when looking in a different direction for new league members. GMG!

  43. In the T's you have two consecutive Dereks in Teegarden and Thompson. In the O's you have back-to-back a Zach and Zachery. The first names of the consecutive last names beginning with Atkinson and with ending Bean make out the sentence Shavod Will Chase Jeremy. And, on the roster as a whole we have a J.J., B.J., and an A.J.
