  1. Wait a minute. They just passed a stupid athletic fee in this economy! They are going to make it impossible for students to go to college. No one will come to UNT with that extra fee...

  2. If the same people who count attendance at their football games.....counts enrollment numbers at smoo.....they will claim that have 38,000 students.

  3. The TWU campus is pretty good looking. I'd hit it. But so much of the campus doesn't seem at all interested in whether or not I find it physically attractive... It's confusing.

  4. This is in the early planning stages, but the Band is planning to invite all alumni of the band to perform along with the current members at the last game at Fouts Field Nov. 27. If you or anyone you know ever played in the NT marching band at Fouts, please plan on being a part of this. The band department will make some announcements soon since school just started, but I wanted to let the hard core mean green fans here know about so you can start spreading the word. I think we could also use a few horn, woodwind, and color guard people to help spread the word. I'm a drummer and I've already begun starting to let a lot of the drummers know about it. This should a a great time and exciting to have several hundred in the band for that last game!! Please send me a message with your email address if you want any more info as I find out about it. Thanks!

  5. All those same sources said BYU was going to make their announcement last Monday. Then they realized the MWC is more valuable with with a 12th team and some BCS questions. BYU doesn't want to go to the WAC or go solo, they just want to make more money.

  6. Sources close to the talks also stated that the MWC teams are awaiting the ok from Santa Claus before making any moves.

  7. Thanks for your support of the Mean Green. We sit in the lower bowl as well near the media tables on the team bench side. Love the seats and have a great view of the action. Not down as close as SUMG, but if he gets to out of control I am close enough to hit him with some well aimed popcorn! Glad to have you join the season ticket crowd. I( agree, the best thing to do would be to call the ticket office. They should be more than willing to answer all your questions. It will be a great season to have your seats reserved! Thanks...I hope you are one of many who decide to support the Mean Green through the purchase of season tickets. JJ and company have certainly done all they can do to make it a great value!

  8. I have been told that we or UNT plans to cap at 45,000 in Denton. Then the I am sure the admission requirements will increase. I heard this from various developers that were working around UNT and they said that that was what Gretchen was telling them two years ago or so.

  9. they should watch Necessary Roughness and shut the hell up. Honestly, our campus is like decade by decade museum of architectural design from the 20th Century.

  10. I hate that too. Especially after returning from a weeklong trip to Guadalajara. Montezuma: You win!

  11. Now if we could just permanently adopt a color that represents MEAN GREEN! I'm so tired of the current trend of light green. It's the green equivalent of Powder Blue which doesn't really scream MEAN GREEN to me. Yes, there was the lime green from the days of the Flying Worm (I'll never forget the McDonalds on I35), but jeez that was the 70s and everything was hideous then. Look at the green in the Eagle logo in at the top of this board. That's a good green. We are not SLC and I don't care if the Dodge family has to buy new green clothes to go to our games.

  12. If Dasher had been at UT, he would get a slap on the hand and full NCAA clearance without the loss of any game. GMG!

  13. That you are 28 is painfully obvious. Again, you work for The Ticket, so don't go trying to get all sports self-important on us. It's The Ticket, after all. As far as throwing rocks, I'm just tossing your's back after they land in my virtual living room. Now, to get this back on track, nice game by the Rangers, and they are +2 on the 91 win pace.

  14. Similarly, I prefer the Alabama Elephants to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

  15. Considering our current size we should slow but not stop growth with small yearly increases in admission standards.

  16. Sure, that may be true if you're talking about seats... But what about CAPACITY?

  18. If I had to put money on it, i would say a pentuple reverse play in which we get sacked for a 40 yard loss.

  19. HEY. DICKS. This thread was started for serious football journalism grammar discussion. We had a great conversation going until the same old suspects came along and started making their stupid jokes. Take your hijacks somewhere else. Now then... Where did I leave the other part of my infinitive?

  20. The second round of examples I used was for TV graphics, not formal written or spoken sentences. I hate poorly constructed and sloppy/non-standardized graphic formats. Thanks for getting this thread back on track, though. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to put commas on both sides of a quotation mark.

  23. You do know that you could organize events in the area any time you think it would be a good time to get some alums together, right? You don't have to wait on an "official" gathering set up entirely by the Alumni Association. That's what we do with the Denton Chapter. The Association can help you get the word out and all you need is a place that will give you a room and BINGO there you go! I am not ragging on you at all, just mentioning to folks that the Association itself has limited personnel and very limited resources to set up events around the country on a regular basis, but that does not and would not stop them from helping someone who wanted to work as a coordinator in an area to get some Mixers/Watch parties, etc. going. I have found it to be fun and a great way to meet other alums. Sometimes we have a good turnout, sometimes not so great, but an after-hours mixer is a great way to end a work day no matter how many show up. Get in tough with Rob McKinney or any of the great folks at the Alumni Association and I am sure they will help you with Alumni materials, emails to local members, etc., etc. Or, PM me and I'll be glad to help any way I can. Enjoy the event...talk to the Alumni folks there and see how you might help set up some regular mixers in the area. You will definitely be happy you did and I am sure other DC area alums will be so as well. GO ALUMNI...GO MEAN GREEN!

  26. Our campus has too many post office looking buildings on it. No sense of architecture for many of them. It's a shame, too. UT-Austin's campus is awful as well, I'll say in agreement with Green Mean. Leonid Brezhnev and his silent "h" relax at a dorm room at the University of Texas between visits with his admirers and sympathizers - the University of Texas faculty, staff, and students, Willie Nelson, and straggly looking, soap eschewing hangers on from nearby Hippie Hollow.

  27. Right on both counts and he royally fucked up. I forgot because I am 28 and am not some jack-wagon that throws rocks on a message board - I haven't a clue what I talk about every day and get paid for.
