Here are the kiddos decked out in their UNT gear. Pretty cool getting to meet Johnny. Guess you can tell by two of the three kids that we're more into UNT basketball, but we'll make it to a few football games this season, too.7 points

Went to the Snakepit game a couple of years ago. Completely unimpressed. I expected the lower bleachers to be pulled out so you could be closer to the action. They weren't. If it is the same way again, I'll wait for the 1st game at the Superpit. But, that's just me.3 points

no, this is a student radio station for and about the university of north texas. if you want to highlight some pro sports stories or some results of important national college games or bowl games fine. but a story about ut scheduling notre dame when they have already played each other 10 times in the past and nd is not even top 25? bs. some internal texas or nd fan stuck that story on there on purpose.2 points

Don't let these guys beat you up - writers need thick skin. You had an assignment and did fine. And I completely believe that you heard that from a coach... one suggestion (as a former student writer).. I would edit to say that one coach (that preferred to remain anonymous) is a fan of so and so.. Until you have spoken to all coaches, you can't really make a statement that the entire coaching staff is "pulling for" one guy or another. Cool? Otherwise, keep it up - and keep it coming!2 points

I went to the UNT bookstore today and noticed that UNT has a whole line of clothes dedicated to the Football program. They have shirts with the helmet on the front with motivation wording on the back. Also couldn't happen to notice the sharp black Ts with the complete football schedule listed on the back by Jersey color (white/green) we will wear for each game. It actually looks like we have invested talent into creating better apparel that may get more notices than that typical grey or green shirt with the Simple NORTH TEXAS Football wording on the front. As far as membership and season ticket goes. Until the Athletic Department does more to promote group outings where seasons ticket holders and FUTURE ticket holders (also referred to as students) share a common spot to enjoy matters related to North Texas football (outside of the stadium) get comfortable with 500 or less Mean Green Club members. We are not at the level of high profile alumni renting out conference rooms on game day to entertain guests at a black tie affairs like are larger counterpart friends to the south. So why try to establish ourselves or compare ourselves to other FBS schools by interacting with a few Mean Green Members to represent the voice of 495? I would love to give my opinion or actually attend a Football Cookout and interact with more the individuals I arrive with. However, talking football with an unfamiliar face is unheard of at UNT and away games with as little as 30 people enjoying an athletic thrown tailgate. 495 Mean Green Club strong will turn into 2000 a lot faster than giving gifts to current club members. Who ever ends up working to strengthen fan and alumni support needs to start with current fans, but future alum. Im already a club member, give me incentive to the class of 2011.2 points

We went to the game tonight and had a blast. I think we were the only folks there decked out in UNT gear. Johnny Quinn sat behind us and we got a picture of our kids with him tonight. He was very nice about it, too. I'll try to upload the pic and post it soon. Thanks Kyle for the heads up. Lots of fun.2 points

Agree with SUMG...if you are reporting, then a source is reasonable. If this is a blog, maybe not, but if it is your opinion and not hearsay from a coach (sounds like you have more than one that told you something), you should state that. Is there an editor that proofs the story, or do you post this on your own? Thanks for sharing your perspective. One thing I was unaware of: didn't know you could listen to old games via the miracle of the podcast from the KNTU website.2 points

No offense....but you shouldn't throw out unsubstantiated stuff like "word from around camp is that coaches want ******* to start." I really doubt that coaches would be saying anything of the sort. They've got two quality QBs battling it out. And btw.....whichever one they choose, I'm fine with. Just my opinion. And I appreciate the effort...just to me, it's a turnoff when someone posts something like that and doesn't back it up.2 points

I agree. Being in those uncomfortable upper bleachers...didn't do much for me either.2 points

I like our basketball uniforms the way they are. I think it's a shape look.1 point

You mean to tell me the KNTU website is about Texas sports in general and not just NT? Hmmmmm, something VERY wrong going on if that's the case. Does that mean I should expect an SFA story in the near future?1 point

My name is Kyle Wise and i am a UNT student working for the McKinney Marshals baseball team of the Texas Collegiate League. This saturday is our last game and we have been getting alot of groups for the game. I was able to get Mean Green Great Johnny Quinn out to throw out one of our first pitches. I would love for us to have as many UNT supportors out to the game as possible. Tickets are normally $5 for adults and $3 for kids 5-12 and seniors 55+, but if you wear a UNT shirt at the game this Saturday you will recieve $2 off your addmission price. If you have any questions please let me know and i hope we get a ton of Mean Green Fans out. The stadium is located at 6151 Alma Drive in McKinney (right off of 121). ***Also another added bonus is that we will have beer specials of $2 beer for a 16oz. *****For any businesses we are offering free addmission to the game if you are able to bring a table to have information about your organization on it and we will allow up to five people from that organization in for free. If interested please send me an email at kylelwise@tclmarshals.com1 point

Just got the word that we decided to change it to DOLLAR beer tonight, just more reason to come out to the stadium and enjoy some good college baseball1 point

It's my understanding that the great Johnny Quinn will be standing in the lobby of the Collin County Courthouse as he throws out the first pitch. And that the catcher will have extra padding in his mitt. Go Johnny Go GO MEAN GREEN1 point

Their website shows a 7:00 start time, and Kyle has said in the past that all games start at 7:05. This sounds like fun and I am going to see we can get the family out there.1 point

Danget, I knew you guys would respond to something like that, but even though I am considered a student writer, I know that if it is just a rumor, I wouldn't write it. It is true, you have my word on that. By true I mean I know for a fact that's what the coaches want. Sorry for the edit, I forgot you guys were asking for a source. My source asked to speak on condition of anonymity because he is not really supposed to talk about the subject.0 points

It was real cool how loud it was in their....but the logistics of everything made it a nightmare...would prefer not to do it again unless they change some things.0 points

This is right, but why mess with the cliche' response? Where's UNT90 saying he thinks this kid is more of a 2 and JJ needs to bring in a pure point?-1 points

Can't find a link to a story anywhere, but ASU fans on the SBC board and on their basketball message board are saying that Boone got a medical hardship waiver and will be eligible to play again this November.-1 points

please man, "Criticize in private and praise in public." You guys are always so negative.-1 points

Quit criticizing him bro. Take your negativity elsewhere.-1 points

If people want to criticize then why don't they open their wallets and fund new shoes and uniforms and join the MGC!-1 points

This is just a battle that I honestly didn't expect to see. I thought for sure with Riley moving to WR that it was basically Tune's job. But now Tune is thinking, "man I wish I had bones of steel!!"-1 points

I remember watching that game and seeing those turnovers, and I'll admit, I blamed him a little bit for losing that game because of those interceptions, but a few weeks later I changed my opinion on him during that game, and you are right, he did a very good job protecting the ball.-1 points

Hey guys, here is something I wrote after looking at practice earlier this morning. I wrote it for kntu.com, and it's only a spotlight on the quarterbacks. I'll be at practice on Monday, and I'll be putting what I thought about the defense then. Don't attack me for talking about the QB's today, but they really stood out. Plus, it's hard to tell exactly how good the players look when they are just using helmets. Here is the link: UNT QB's look good at practice Again, don't attack me, I'm just a student but I figured there can never be enough Mean Green coverage! I can't wait for football season, and I'm sure everyone else here can't either.-1 points
