Harry is much more tactful than I will be. Why don't you "Pony Up" and lend your support to SMU, or head to Cowtown and support TCU, or join the typical Texan that follows UT or A&M regardless of where you went to school? You are like that infamous Denton resident Bob Clifton that finds something wrong with everything. If it is so bad, then go elsewhere. It's not that difficult and would make many a person's life more enjoyable.4 points

We are fixing one excuse that kept some fans away: better stadium. "We need a better conference, better opponents, better helmet, better coach, more wins, BCS Bowl, didn't know, won't contact me, yada yada." There will always be some excuse for fans to not attend if they want one. You obviously have an interest or you wouldn't be on here. All the other "wants" will only come with more fans and less excuses.3 points

Sad comment and exactly the type of comment that reflects in part why UNT has struggled to fund athletics on a consistent basis. My guess is that folks with this attitude would never purchase Club Level seating even if UNT played in the Big XII. Excuses...excuses. OK, so you won't purchase Club level seating (even though your comments indicates that you are financially able to do so) as the requirement for you that UNT join a different conference. So, are you financially supporting the program at any level? If so...great, you are doing more than the majority of UNT alums and "fans", and you have my appreciation for what you are doing. It doesn't matter if one doesn't care to buy Club Level seating. I know several great Mean Green supporters who just don't want to participate in Club Level seating, but they support the program in many other ways including donations to the stadium project, season ticket purchases, membership in the Mean Green Club and membership in the Alumni Association. It isn't how you help it's IF you help that matters. Support the program how you wish...just support it...as was said here earlier...be part of the solution, not part of the problem. If you wish to be part of the problem, just keep your opinions to yourself and go away. The Mean Green Nation will be just fine without folks who want to be part of the problem.3 points

I said attitude not actions. I am one who buys seasons tickets and makes a small donation to the MGC, thats all financially I can do. In addition like many I promote the school and program as much as I can. However there were far too many students/alumni when i was there 5 years ago, who discounted what we did when were winning. Now they piss on the fact of what conference we are in etc etc. DD and the like will never run of excuses to not support and thats fine Seriously just take some pride in where you went and help support the school. Its a journey, a long one at that. It's usually the best part. No ones asking you to support complacency but be positive how far we have come and we all recognize where we need to go.2 points

Good size kid, hopefully he can play. Heres is something an OU blogger said about him. An offensive lineman to watch is Oologah standout Brian Rawlinson. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound tackle is drawing interest from Oklahoma State, BYU, TCU and others. Oologah coach Brandon Craig said Rawlinson has great hands and great quickness, plus a large frame to build upon. "And he's only a junior," Craig said. "He's only going to get better."2 points

my point is that our entire athletic department is underfunded, and i see no sense in adding another expensive non-revenue producing sport. it is my understanding that the university of texas at austin funds the minimum number of sports necessary to be at a division 1 level, and throws money at each one. until we have a much larger athletic budget and greater financial support from alumni, we might try to be successful at those sports we already have before making additions.even then, the fan support for our winning mens basketball team, for example, is pathetic. i can't imagine any better support for a mens baseball team than we have for our womens softball team. just my sunny opinion.2 points

Dallas Baptist- No Football to fund UTA- See above Sam Houston- Football is funded at 1-AA level Texas State SM,- see SHSU SFA-see SHSU and Texas State The only JUCO's even close to D/FW that have Football is Navarro and possibly Trinity Valley. I seem to recall hearing that at JUCO's two players (in Football, I don't know about the other sports) split a "ship", so their funding for Football is very much below any four year school. I'm sure that Tarleton, Midwestern, and A$M Commerce all have baseball as well, but they fund football at D-II levels.2 points

I sure hope that skirt comes in green and white. Nobody has ever said they were a better fan than others. All that has been said, and it can't be argued, is that this program will only get where we ALL want it to be when we realize quality has a price tag. Let's not kid ourselves by suggesting that wearing our NT sweatshirt to the grocery store or throwing a tortilla OUTSIDE of the game will help 2-10 become a thing of the past. UT or OU would love for you to wear their sweatshirt to the grocery store. They already have millions of dollars.1 point

What's even more interesting is that Mr. Rawlinson is excited enough about our upcoming season that he committed to this coaching staff right now probably believing that this same staff will be here when he finally gets here.1 point

I just wonder why they think the series record is 2-0 when Corky Nelson 1aa team clobbered them.1 point

Riley makes plays happen. He may make more stupid mistakes the Tune, but he creates big plays. If his arm would have fully healed, then I really believe we would have seen one of the best QB's to ever come through North Texas.1 point

Well, back to the topic--these seats are going to be a great bargain in comparison to some other "premium" seats at other programs. Most programs charge the "one time" fee EVERY year, and the seats can only be renewed by paying that premium at season ticket renewal time, so for those who can get in--it's a steal. Thanks to those who clarified the tax question I had.1 point

Tell me again how staying in the parking lot, not going to the games and throwing around a bunch of tortillas is supporting the program? Yes, people who complain and do nothing are exactly the ones holding the program back. DaddyDumpsalot buys tickets and goes to the games it seems from his last post. That's more support than most give and certainly more support than staying in the parking lot and flipping tortillas around. My problem with DaddyDumpsalot's comment is in the "attitude" toward the program. If you head the recent Podcast you heard a great quote from Bart Starr...I cannot quote it exactly but it went something like "It doesn't take a lot of courage to support a team when it's winning. It takes courage to support a team when it isn't doing well". Buying Club level seating has absolutely noting to do with it...it seems the comments hit too close to home for you....it's all about supporting the program or not. Hanging out in the parking lot before a game and tagging onto the fun before a game is great, but, in my book, that's not supporting the program. It's you having a fun time while others do the heavy lifting. It doesn't take much money to join the Mean green Club, even less to join the Alumni Association and very little to buy a ticket or two to a game and actually go to the game. ONCE more for those like eppy4life who don't seem to listen well, IT IS NOT ABOUT HOW MUCH, IT IS ABOUT IF YOU SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. Support the program at the level you wish and participate in what you wish...no one said anything about not supporting the Mean Green if one didn't play in the GMG.Com Bowl (Good Grief were you ever stretching and grabbing at straws with that one!), didn't buy club seats or season tickets. A $25 donation to the athletic dept or $50 to the stadium fund and an end zone seat for a game or two is FANTASTIC if that's what one can do. Support levels tend to build over time and as other financial obligations are put to rest, etc. Just think if every alum in the DFW metroplex gave just $50/year to the athletic dept. how much more the dept. could be doing to upgrade coaching, facilities, etc., etc. Again, if you heard the recent podcast you heard RV talk about how, even with the new stadium, season ticket sales are not going as well as hoped. Everyone will acknowledge that winning a few games would help, but some might be disappointed in where their seats might be in the new stadium if they are season ticket buyers before next season. Anyway, I hope the attitudes of many Mean green alums start to change for the positive soon. YOUR university could use your help. GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

Conference affiliation or not, you have to do your part. If you were even close going the club seat route and can financially do it, please reconsider. Anything we alumni can do to support the athletics program will go a long way towards bettering our conference affiliation.1 point

I'm pretty sure the Club Seat area is limited to those folks who have tickets to sit in the Club Seats. I think there are 720 of these seats. With amenities such as free buffet, free non-alcoholic beverages, free game program...etc....you have to limit it, to those who are paying the premium prices for it. It costs what $250 to get Deck access? Plus, on the Deck...everyone has to pay for their own food/drinks. So my guess is that the Club Area....will be limited to those who have Club Seats.1 point

i would love to have baseball but we can barely get people to turn out for a 20+ win basketball team. an upstart baseball program would be playing to parents.1 point

I hope Chancellor redshirts, as do most of our true freshmen. That is how you build depth in your program. I see Stradford, Jackson, Carey, Outlaw, Johnson, Lott, Jones, Lewis, Bynes and Dodge rotating out this year and can't really point out a weakness in this group. Love the depth and the confidence it, along with Dunbar, will provide our QB. And that's not even taking in to account Mosley and the new TE's.1 point

All those folks clamering for baseball have to do is to fund the program and baseball will be set to go at UNT. So, whose up next with a six figure donation? It's great to say UNT should do this or that, but it's another thing to find a way to fund it or establish it under current budgets and Title IX regulations, etc. I'd love to see men's soccer return as well as baseball, but, folks, without the funding it just isn't going to happen. UNT has suffered mightily from the lack of support financially and about any other way you can name from its alums and fans. It's just a fact of life that money talks in college athletics. Heck, UNT struggles to get a decent number of season ticket holders for any of its programs much less any level of real financial support from the vast majority of alums and fans. You want baseball...or soccer....well, get your alum pals to join the Mean Green Club, to buy season football and basketball tickets, to join the Alumni Association and re-connect with their university so maybe they will open their pocketbooks a little and help UNT build a strong and lasting financial footing. The folks who are contributing are doing what they can. If everyone just did what they could it would make a world of positive difference. Complaining about why things don't get done is great, but it never moved anything forward. Neither does the attitude that "I'll wait until I see what I want happening, or when they get rid of that coach or that AD, or that staffer who said something mean to me or ignored me, or that university president, etc, etc.". Excuses are a dime a dozen. It really is way past time for Mean Green fans, alums and supports to "put up or shut up".1 point

Wow...what a concept...fiscal responsibility. Agree with the concept. Also agree that the current array of sports being funded are not supported well enough to allow for more non-revenue sports at this time. That could all change with an infusion of good old US Greenbacks.-1 points

I will be at the games rest assured. But I am not going to pay a premium price to watch the likes of the Sunbelt Conference. I am sorry that I disagree with you all and because of that I am getting reamed (sadly, that seems to be the GMG tradition). You can still support the program without dishing out thousands of dollars.-1 points

Don't we go into every season praising our recievers or talking about how great that group is going to be? Then about mid-season we realize that they can't seperate from the defense so screens and crossing patterns is all we can complete.-2 points

I am sure RD is a nice guy...but as a QB he stinks and was responsible for several losses last year...all by his little o' self.-3 points

What? Are you serious? The attitude of guys like Dumpsalot isn't what's 'holding this program back.' Just because some alumni choose to spend their money elsewhere isn't the reason this program is where it is. Too many on this board feel that if you're not buying club level seating, joining the mean green club, or playing in the gmg bowl, you're the problem. If I choose to support the program by paying to get into the tailgating area and throwing tortillas in the parking lot the entire game, so be it.-4 points
