I'd say FAU is free to talk as much trash as they want, too. Not Western Kentucky, though. SCOREBOARD.3 points

Seems like a service academy would be best. 10 year of Sept.11. New Stadium. Service Academy. Would be huge.2 points

My school, and those that support it, stepped up and built us a new stadium. Now we have to do our part to pay for it. I hope is that those of us that put up the jack for club seats will enable the university to continue a pricing strategy that allows casual, "off the street" or non-UNT affiliated fans to be able to attend games at a reasonable price, i.e. family section, etc. Of the group of 20-25 with whom we typically tailgate and attend games, at least half did not go to NT and attend because they enjoy being with friends, seeing college football at a price they percieve to be a good value. I think we will get new fans that want to see football, hopefully winning football, in a first-class facility. But I do think there is a contingent of fans described above. To maximize "butts in seats," I look forward to seeing a price structure that can accommodate the high-toned all the way down to steerage. GMG2 points

The results of that game are not attributable so much to Rice's talent as to a North Texas team that--except for Tobe Nwigwe--gave up.1 point

As much as Nolan Ryan has done for the pitching, I think Clint Hurdle has done for the hitting. The Rangers no longer live by the idiotic Jaramillo style of swinging for the fences on every pitch. The team actively tries for singles, doubles, and bunts now and it's a big part of why they're in first place.1 point

Rickey Bustle? Has anyone in the Belt wasted more opportunities than Rickey Bustle? Chico Canales is going to open some eyes. And, for the likes of Rickey Bustle, Chico Canales' offense may spell career change. Because once we run though, over, and around ULa-La, the Rajun Cajun faithful are going to be looking for new leadership. You can stick Arkansas State in that category, too, while we're on the subject, kids. Wow. 1800 posts. That ought to just about do it.1 point

RV is going to determine after the season... he hits 6 wins I think he is back at least one more year, hell if he hits 5 wins and we are competitive and close in the games then I think he gets another try at it too. If it is only 4 wins and he loses all of the other games by a combined 14 points then I still don't see him coming back next year.1 point

I am hoping that Riley has a great year. He may not be the QB anymore but he is still a leader on the team and his attitude, assuming that it is still has that positive won't quit spirit since his injury, is a huge asset to this team.1 point

I more concerned about the guy kicking the ball than the deep snapper considering Kokjohn has snapped well in the past, but our kicking has been horrible since Bazaldua graduated.1 point

Don't get me wrong... A win over Oklahoma would be HUGE, and would definitely get this thing off to a great start. But if I had to choose between six wins or a bowl game... I'd rather see us in the bowl. Especially if it means beating SMU, too. Such optimistic days... We were all so young and foolish then.1 point

Agree with your assessment as to the importance of the Rice game, but I have to disagree with the above. If we win the Sun Belt, the KSU game will be packed. Even if we don't win the SBC, the KSU game will have a good crowd based upon KSU has many alumni in DFW, their fans will travel and it is the Fouts Finale.1 point

I like him because he's from East Texas. Mucho great football players from out that way. Good to see us get back out there for this one.1 point

I would much rather win our conference than beat Clemson or Kansas State.1 point

Beating Kansas State is the best thing for the program whether we win the 9 or 10 that I say we will...or, if we just win one or two the way the Canales Haters say we will. I just know this - the Belt better sack the f up this year when they roll into Fouts for the final time.1 point

From the 2010 Preview article... 2009 Misc Stats Turnover Margin: -1.17 per game (last in Sun Belt, 117th in Nation) Fix this... and I think a 7-5 2010 campain is not out of the question.1 point

Come on Vito....4-8? I guess you don't believe in the mean green. I'm guessing 7-5 or 8-4. I think they lose to Clemson and K-state, but beat either Middle Tennessee or Troy.1 point

Personally, I believe that a win over Clemson or K-State would make a much larger impact on our recruiting than going to a lower tier bowl game. We will eventually get the win over Goliath, we just need more rocks for our slingshots.1 point

All of those schools would play us in our new stadium. KState is playing us this year, Houston next, and Baylor and La Tech have been here in recent history.0 points

Ski, Becky, we are pulling for you! I have had fewer than 12 slices of non-Tomato pizza since you closed, partly in protest to the Tomato's demise. Hmmm, The Tomato. New stadium. 2011 could be Denton's best year ever. I want my Tomato back!0 points

I love the new green helmet!! It would be perfect if they did away with that huge white stripe. I can live with it.-1 points

When you see people living in section eight housing one month, and in those $90k homes the next, yes, it does. Remember those bad loans? Ask the people that live and work in that area. They will tell you. There should have been gated communities with $200k plus homes on that property, but the city took the easy way out. They will pay for it for the next 30 years. I agree that Denton should plan furture development, but not planning leads to situations like South Arlington, not Frisco or Southlake. You may not like those communities, but there is no doubt that they were well conceived and planned to attract a certain resident, which they accomplished quite effectively. Location plays a role, but you have to have what people want to get them to live in your city. Another great example of a city being very proactive is Fort Worth. The new W. 7th St development, the new development just south of downtown, working to reginerate older neighborhoods, the new town lakes development about to get underway, and all of this in a bad economy. It's kinda like college football, your either going forward or your going backward. Arlington=backward, Fort Worth (and Southlake, Frisco, etc..)=forward.-1 points

The SGA president who helped organize (and presided over), the student fee vote has to pay for his seats at the new stadium? Am I the only one who sees something very wrong with this?-1 points

I don't. I have seen the overwhelming majority of these "opportunity games" over the past three decades. They almost always bring embarrassment to the university. I hope that they now will become a thing of the past. It would be nice to see North Texas only schedule games with schools that will play home-and-home series. Maybe make exceptions for a 2-for-1 series with schools like Texas, A&M, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, but never again selling off games like has happened in the past. The students at North Texas are investing too much to have somebody bleed the program for extra dollars by selling "opportunity games".-1 points

We'll see. 4 & 8 sounds about right. Maybe 5 & 7. Never really could get on board with all the Dodge ball hype, so If Mr. Todd Dodge is gone I won't be surprised. I'm am more surprised that Gary DeLoach's defensive teams haven't been better of late. It's always been my belief that Mr. Deloach was the best, if not one of the best coaches on any staff we've had at UNT. I've heard Mr. Deloach doesn't like in home recruiting visits, but I could be off base on that also. I know this team won't do much better than 4 & 8 if the defense doesn't show up. Mr. Dodge's system sure does keep the defense out on the field a lot. I think that might be as big a factor in our defensive woe's as anything else also. Dickey may have run the draw a lot, but at times the defense was able to rest a little. The Rice game a couple of years ago was 77 to 20 and could have been 100 to 20, so we'll know by the second week of the season what our team's looking like. Rice had some decent talent that year also. Maybe they won't be as tough this time around. If they are our season is going to get ugly quick.-1 points
