Thank you. I am sure it will piss off the old guys in the balcony, but if SS has two more outstanding starts, he should be on the NL roster for the ASG.2 points

One other thing I don't like about the WAC: In some places...you deal with altitude adjustments.....which can be an advantage for the home team.2 points

As to a bowl in SA....I'm guessing you're talking about a brand new one. I doubt the Alamo Bowl would want any part of the new WAC...since they've had Big Ten and Big 12 teams in there. So if you're talking a new bowl....it would have to be certified.2 points

Its always nice to be reminded that KRAM knows exactly how good of fans we all are.... based on monetary donations and attendance to games he schedules against UNT's graduation. Since everyone's circumstances are identical, his parameters are flawless!2 points

With FAU and FIU added I am not sure I really care anymore if we go to the WAC or not, but what I do like is UNT getting its name out there and being discussed to upgrade conferences. It pushes the information that we have done wonders in bringing our facilities to the leading edge. Plus I think it gives us the perception that we are getting serious about our athletic programs. In this area I like all the attention we can get.2 points

Please answer the following with a yes or no then feel free to add commentary at your discretion. Question: Are you completely worn out with UNT to the WACy surveys? Talk amongst yourselves.1 point

"Mid-major" is a bunch of crap. Allowing our University (or conference) to be included in anything "mid-major" tarnishes our brand. We should disavow anything "mid-major," publically refuse any awards or accolades and sue any organization that attempts to or continues to group us in any mid-major categorization/rankings/awards, etc. If we don't defend our brand, we have no one to blame but ourselves. And didn't someone posted that interim presidents usually just sit on their hands ? To our benefit Rawlins seems to definately be involved. Don't rule out that a consultant couldn't/wouldn't be a matchmaker.1 point

No. I love how people put divisions together which have NMSU (and in this case USU) in a division with us. Buy a freakin' atlas.1 point

Ok, here's my question. Didn't we get any sort of feedback from the CUSA people when we were trying to sell ourselves to them back in 2004? What could a consultant tell us that we should have learned in feedback from the CUSA people, OR someone from our own school of marketing. Why do I have the feeling that what we're really doing is hiring a "matchmaker", like the one Barry Fitzgerald played in "The Quiet Man".1 point

I vote "NO" to the current WAC. I would also vote "NO" to a WAC with an eastern division which included TSU-SM & UTSA - might as well stay in the belt if we're going to play schools moving up. I don't see any CUSA teams, with the possible exception of UTEP, going back to the WAC. And they're not likely to - just as LA Tech won't go back to the Belt because they want to distance themselves from ULM, UTEP wants to distance themselves from NMSU. So only a WAC with an eastern division which included ArkSt & ULL would be a possibility. As for Troy & MUTS, that's spreading things out too much. Keep it west of the Mississippi. It's probably best to stay in the belt until CUSA breaks up and true regional realignment is possible.1 point

The term "Cougar High" came from the fact that UH was started by the HISD as a JC in the twenties and first held classes at a local high school, became a 4 year institution in the 30's and wasn't seperated from the HISD until 1945. I believe that Houston High School graduates who went to other Universities nicknamed it "Cougar High". Every Aggie I know always refers to it as that, although I can't say that about graduates of other Universities. I have never used the term because I am afraid that people would think I am an A$M grad.1 point

To me, any delay in expansion and realignment is a good thing. While we have gotten several of our ducks in a row that were askew the last time C-USA came calling, we still have two significant drawbacks: (1) A terrible record in football the last 5 years, and (2) No baseball team. As far as the strength of our football team, we could not look any worse than we do right now. Hopefully, the addition of Coach Chico and the continued improvement of our D leads to a turnaround this coming season. If not, I am confident that we will have the resources and attractiveness to bring in a head coach who will turn things around. Most of the C-USA schools field a baseball team, and I am sure the conference and member schools would rather keep it that way. LaTech fields a baseball team, so that's something they have on us. RV has said that he is not going to consider putting together a baseball team until the football stadium is finished. If we can at least get to the point where we are actually taking steps to put a baseball program together and making plans to build a baseball stadium, that will definitely be a plus for us. It might be a lot better for us for the present if C-USA remains unchanged, and we bide our time another 2 or 3 years in the Belt.1 point

UNACCEPTABLE! Do you not realize that we are smack dab in the middle of fantasy conference realignment season? Come on now!1 point

If CUSA loses two eastern teams why would you want to replace them with two more teams even farther away from the core? CUSA is headquartered in Irving, thirty miles away from North Texas. There are seven teams on or west of the Mississippi River and an eighth, Southern Miss, is little more than 100 miles to the east. Why would you want to add teams in the east and further your travel expenses? North Texas and Louisiana Tech would be closer to the core of Conference USA than any other candidates. North Texas has been in the highest classification for 46 years and La Tech for 28. I don't believe that any other candidates have that length of service. No one will have a significantly larger stadium or attendance. Both have produced quality football teams over the years. Furthermore, North Texas has other advantages. Thirty minutes away from one of the country's busiest airports, for example. It gives them great accessibility and cheaper airfares for its opponents. It would have the largest alumni base of any of the candidates. It is in the fifth largest TV market and with SMU, would give CUSA more viewers than any other conference. Don't forget there are two teams in the Houston area which is at number ten. If there were need for two additional teams, I frankly don't see why North Texas would not be number one. While the fight for number two would be closer, I'd still give the margin to Louisiana Tech over Middle Tennessee.1 point

My friend, Texas State and all the other Div I-AA schools will not be part of this realignment. Why? Because financial viability will be a huge concern for the NCAA. They just addedd the conference affiliation rule for moving up. You don't add more rules if you want teams to transition up. They want FBS to stay at 120 teams (121 when So. Alabama finishes its transition).1 point

I've heard many arguements for and against the WAC, but in the end, I still say if we can't get in C-USA, lets go to the WAC. Yes, the teams are far away. Yes, it will cost more to travel. Yes, most of our fans will not go to away games. Yes, half of the teams in the WAC are really bad. Yes, we will play half our games late at night. And I have desided I'm OK with that, because... ..., at the end of the season, the WAC champion has almost always finishes ranked in the polls. I have never seen a Sun Belt champion ranked. Ever. Not us, not Troy, not anybody. So, I don't care how bad anything is in the WAC. The fact that the WAC offers an oportunity to be ranked, negates any other arguement for me. I didn't think we have that oportunity in the Sun Belt. It's time to go.1 point

There's nothing certain about the Humanitarian bowl, except that it CAN'T go with Boise since MWC is maxed out on automatic bowl tie-ins. I'm betting the Humanitarian bowl stays with the WAC and it moves to a better location. Hey, think we can get it played at the new stadium??? While revenue will drop, it will still be higher than the SBC payout. And what has changed since last time is the fact we have a athletic fee that can be raised 10% each year with a simple majority vote of the BOR.1 point

I'd love to play the University of Houston every year. I'd especially love to play them for the conference championship. Have you made your new stadium contribution yet ? Bought season tickets ? Joined the Mean Green Club ? GO MEAN GREEN1 point
-
It's suicide if you really think the WAC is worse than the Sun Belt. Even if CUSA doesn't come through with an offer, the WAC is so much better than Sun Belt. The WAC has 4 automatic bowls, and three of them are against MWC teams. Even without Boise, WAC revenues will be better than Sun Belt. The WAC gets almost $8 million while the Sun Belt gets $1.5 million. Take away the Boise State BCS payout, it still means the WAC rakes in $3.5 million, more than twice as much as the Belt.1 point

The new stadium and a new conference with well known schools like Hawaii & Fresno St. could be huge for increasing our fanbase. Renewing our rivalry with NMSU has to be a positive. Let's say attendance jumps because of this...at what point would it be worth it?1 point
-
Ultimate goal would be a strong term, but it is a great goal for UNT right now. It is undeniably a better conference than the WAC or the Belt. It has great regional matchups for UNT--Houston, Rice, SMU, Tulsa, UTEP. Even the matchups that are less regional are games people could get excited about--Southern Miss, Central Florida, Memphis (assuming they stay), etc. Realistically, we are not going to be in a better conference in the next 5 years. 10 years and beyond, who knows? Panacea? No. Ultimate goal? No. But I can't think of a more ideal conference situation for UNT within reality right now.1 point
-
That's a huge slap in the face to Fresno St. & Hawaii, IMO. What SunBelt school even comes close to being as good as these 2 schools the last decade? I say NT should go to the WAC and push for a package deal with stAte. There would certainly be some regional friendly games with LaTech, NMSU, & stAte in the mix. I thought NMSU was our biggest rival before they left the SunBelch?????1 point
-
The Sun Belt will NEVER pass anyone in terms of perception. Ever. "Build the Belt" is a dream that teams cling to while they wait by the phone. The Sun Belt will always be an entry-level position for teams moving up or moving down the FBS ladder. If WAC travel is going to hit us hard... hey, looks like we need to have the BOR consider the first increase of the athletic fee!1 point

In his case for/against the WAC....Brett failed to mention bowl sites and basketball tournament sites. Right now....that's a HUGE ADVANTAGE in the SBC's favor. HUGE.1 point

____________ Evidently not......I really think you do not have a clue what is happening by your own statements. Your bios on your family are a little feeble to say the least on defending your point. Who cares what your family did or does? The point is that the Greeks are in serious financial trouble and all they want to do is riot and have cheese with their incessent whine. I once visited Greece once and not to sound critical they were a bit lazy and so said the same with tourists from other European countries.1 point
