The "hatred" of UT is simply: they're douchebags. Even those of us no ties whatsoever to A&M recognize that. * Texas is afraid to compete, and the Big Ten has nothing to do with it. Texas' all-time winning percentage in the NCAA Tournament is 33-31, .519. That's lower than nine of the current Big Ten schools. Only Penn State and Northwestern have worse NCAA Tournament records than Texas. The Longhorns can't even with the Big 12. They'd be hollow duckfarts in the Big Ten. * The SEC is the toughest football conference, and that's why Texas would never go there. In the 12 years of BCS football, the SEC has won half of the championships - Tennessee, 1998; LSU, 2003 & 2007; Florida, 2006 & 2008; Alabama, 2009. The SEC's television and bowl money far surpasses that of the Big 12; thus, A&M would be making more money. * A&M would be able to sell closer road games to parents of recruits than they had in the Big 12 or would have in the Pac-10. And, no one really cares what Texas does. For all of their recruiting prowess, they've only delivered three conference titles in the Big 12 - half the number as OU. Their football team, like their basketball team, folds under pressure enough to keep them from piling up even conference titles. Anyone remember losses their losses to A&M in 2006 and 2007 to deliver Big 12 South crowns to OU? Nice job for a team that annually outrecruits A&M...to not be able to beat them when it's for all the marbles. Clutch. * Texas will remain douchebags no matter which conference they join. Texas A&M will remain a school we can ignore. The bottom line on Texas is they are Class A, Numbero Uno Douchebags. They like to pretend it's pre-1975. Since 1975, they're 17-18 against Texas A&M. Big deal. The truth is, and always will be, Texas is overrated. They deserve to be in the Pac-10 with the West Coast sissy football douchesbags. I hope they go there. They've got a better chance of keeping their skirts clean there than if they stay in the Big 12 or jump to the Big Ten or SEC, where they'd be nothing more than weekly road kill.3 points

I'll never understand these Arkansas comparisons. Just more baseless spin. The big difference between aTm and arky when it comes to Texas recruits? aTm is IN TEXAS. Kids actually grow up in this state wanting to play major college football in-state. aTm will be able to offer them the BEST football. And don't give me this "but they'll lose in the sec and recruits won't sign" baloney. Baylor has recruited based on who they play and not much else for years. Unlike Baylor, though, aTm isn't horrible...just ask that UT defense.2 points

I'd probably enjoy Major League Baseball a lot more if they used aluminum bats.2 points

I think we just need to move conferences. Maybe even for the publicity. Just to let people know we play football. Staying in the Sun Belt is going to do us no good. So maybe the Sun Belt has made progress in the past couple of years, but it has not been enough.2 points

I tried that strategy one time. Sadly I ended up banging the Southland Conf... and her mom.2 points

I think it would be funny if A&M came out an hour before the UT Board of Regents meeting and announced that they will be going to the SEC and that if UT doesn't go along with them, they will no longer be scheduling UT. If I am the Aggies, I go to the SEC for much the same reason as so many on here don't want to go to the WAC....the travel of so many long away games.1 point

Yes, you have to watch out for those small privates! They will get you every time.1 point

You know it. Baylor is falling fast. Maybe the SBC could make room for them? It would be nice to have a real conference rival. After all, we do have some recent history together.1 point

Arkansas has been in the SEC since 1990. Began football play in 1992. "The Hogs did account for an NCAA basketball title in 1994 and a runner-up finish the following year under Nolan Richardson. But they really haven't been worth a flip in the sport since. In the last 10 years, the Hogs have won a grand total of one NCAA tournament game. Now, Arkansas is known for winning titles in cross country and indoor and outdoor track. How about football? The Hogs have made three appearances in the SEC championship game - 1995, 2002 and 2006. The Hogs finished second in the SEC West in 2002 but Alabama was kept home because of NCAA probation. The Hogs are 0-3 in those title games, being outscored 102-34. Can you say not ready for prime time? Arkansas hasn't been a total embarrassment during its SEC football run - nor has it really brought much to the table. No BCS appearances. Mostly, mediocrity. In 18 seasons, Arkansas has only posted a winning divisional record four times, based on actual results and excluding games later forfeited." The last 20 years that the Hogs were in the SWC: 1991 6 6 1990 3 8 1989 10 2 1988 10 2 1987 9 4 1986 9 3 1985 10 2 1984 7 4 1 1983 6 5 1982 9 2 1 1981 8 4 1980 7 5 1979 10 2 1978 9 2 1 1977 11 1 1976 5 5 1 1975 10 2 1974 6 4 1 1973 5 5 1 1972 6 5 1971 8 3 1 17 winning seasons, including 13 in a row at one point. During that 21 year period, the Hogs won or shared 4 SWC titles. Why did Arkansas jump at the chance to play at Jerryworld last year? Because it gave them a game in Texas. They cut off their nose to spite their face by joining the SEC and giving up half of their games in the state of Texas each year. aTm is looking the same mistake in the face. Those that believe otherwise are naive. aTm is not going to land the out of state recruits. They NEED to play games in this state to attract Texas kids, or they are going to be another Mississippi State. They're rough tough real stuff, though. Will be playing in a really tough conference. They're not chicken, those aTm warriors. They'll be filling their slingshots with rocks now instead of ball bearings, but at least they're not afraid to compete with one hand tied behind their backs.1 point

Assuming A&M falls in line and goes to the Pac 10, I imagine you'd see Kansas and Kansas State go to the MWC. At that point, the best possibility for us would be a new conference formed out of those remains, CUSA, and Sun Belt. If you could get 6 CUSA teams, you would still retain eligibility is my understanding. North Iowa State Missouri Memphis Tulsa North Texas SMU South Baylor Houston Rice Southern Miss Tulane UTEP The rest of CUSA merges with the Sun Belt. Of course, there are obviously versions that don't include North Texas, but I choose not to think about those.1 point

How many schools out there would actually benefit a move to the SunBelt ? Isn't it all about improving your current situation.I mean thats all anyone wants to talk about. So please tell me what schools would improve their status by coming to the Belt. Outside of maybe LaTech coming in from a broken up WAC to cut travel cost (even though they want nothing to do w/ the other LA schools) I can't think of 1 Don't worry , I'll wait Waters does get paid to be the commish , but he's done less than a stellar job IMO1 point

Has it ever occurred to you that Waters gets paid to be the commissioner of a conference? That includes trying to make it better, whether fans of a member school (UNT) want to help or not. What's hilarious it the short sightedness of your posts. Part of the problem is idiots talking crap about the conference we are currently in, when we're still a member and have an opportunity to make it better. I could certainly see an issue if we had won 8 straight conference championships, but it's simply not true. We fans have a responsibility to want our school to get into a better conference. But, we also have a responsibility to make the most out of where we are with what we've got, because we're here.1 point

This conference talk is giving me tired head. At the end of the day it doesn't matter where we are. The rich are just getting richer and those who are not in the " power conferences" are nothing more than warm up games for the big boys that the rest of the country could care nothing about. Maybe this is the start to finally getting a football playoff ? If so, that just means that maybe those who are not in the power conferences will all get to battle it out for 1 spot in a 16 team field where you are just about guaranteed to get your ass kicked in the 1st round , but hey atleast you get a chance right ? If not a playoff then we get to hang our hats on maybe a New Orleans Bowl or that ever elusive Pappa John's bowl game that is played every year in .... Hell who cares Let's face it we only have 2 options : The Sunbelt or the WAC. We aren't getting into C-USA because of SMU the same way Baylor isn't going to get into the MWC because of TCU. It's just how things work. UNT has no pull. Yes we are in the DFW area ,but that doesn't mean we have DFW rating power. In Dallas it's UT,a&m,OU,Tech and that will not change. We don't even have a Denton fanbase much less a metroplex. You think a conference is drooling over UNT because of a dallas tv market ? Feel free to check out any of the ratings we did on our past games on channel 21. Man I can't wait for CLEMSON !!1 point

One more reason to hate those sons of bitches in Austin. Those schools, in particular Austin U and Ok would not go the the SEC or the Big 10 is becuase they know they would not dominate year in and year out. The "quality" conference statements are merely a ruse to hide the real reason for going to the Pack16, more money, but still the ability to dominate.1 point

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/404878-sec-expansion-texas-am-just-the-first-potential-sec-addition I usually have little use for this site, but this was also reported on Chl 5 sports last night. I think Texas is pulling a big old bluff on A&M. The fans of both schools, including very powerful fans in the legislature and governor's office, want this series to continue, and it is a money maker for both schools. Texas is basically holding a gun on it's own foot and threatening A&M that they will shoot themselves if A&M doesn't do what they want. A pretty dangerous bluff. And if Texas does go through with the bluff, make no mistake, they will be shooting themselves in the foot.0 points

Come on Rudy wake up and smell the coffee. Show me one la tech fan who wants into the Sunbelt. Love it "pretty". The conference had and lost central fl, south fl, old dominion, NMst, ID, UtSt, la tech. Based on those I would venture to say that a few of them are doing better now that they left. Same to you This was pointed out on the same thread as the information above, please read other threads Ha ha ha. Sorry, are you talking about the game against AL? or the two on TXA21...or maybe some reruns on Kunt. Perhaps you should have looked at the games that were televised...since you didn't I will point out here that NONE, I repeat, NONE of them were against conference opponents (Ball St, Ohio, Army, and AL). Take care Rudy and remember "You're 5 foot nothin', 100 and nothin', and you have barely a speck of athletic ability."0 points

I think we should invite both Baylor and TCU to the Sunbelt...then we can have more instate rivalries.0 points

At least take the name 'Christian' off of your name. That's not a Christian attitude to take. I know because I am one. Yes, I believe that TCU was probably shafted at the formation of the Big 12. Furthermore, Baylor is acting like a spoiled brat that has had his candy taken away. Both traits are antithetic to Christian attitude. The only difference is that Baylor doesn't have the word Christian as part of its moniker so there's nothing to take away.0 points

aTm will be making a huge mistake going to the SEC. It's just a case of them trying to act like they are "big" enough to do their own thing and not what UT is telling them to do. They're second fiddle in Texas but still haven't grasped that concept, yet. They will be a perennial door mat in the SEC. I think Tech will reap huge benefits in recruiting if the Ags jump ship. The new landscape of the PAC16 North & South is very favorable to any recruit when compared to the SEC.0 points

You boneheads think too small. Let's just join the NFC East to give the Cowboys a travel partner. I hear they have a bitchin' TV deal. Or...the AFC West if we want to be competitive. And there is always the CFL if we can talk Ranger into joining to give us a southern time zone partner.0 points

With Boise out of the WACky, yes. Wrong, We've had a pretty steady membership, and our confrence as a whole has been gaining strength. This was disputed ealier, please read other threads I'll be waiting for those figures, until then, I'll call BS And wrong again. I guess you don't have a televison, otherwise you would have noticed the numerous nationally televised games the SBC had this year. Not to mention the games that were on ESPN Gameplan or pay per view. Benson's wife is getting jealous. She wants you to leave him alone.-1 points

Wow! This is hilarious does Waters actually think by this shakeup that the Sunbelt is going to be more attractive to other conferences/universities?  I can hear his pitch to La Tech "we have been one of bottom conferences for years now and universities have come and gone and...well currently...most our members are looking for a way out. But the horizon is bright for the Sunbelt; sure we average the lowest attendance, have the lowest budgets, and generally speaking no one has ever heard of our members...but I have a hunch that this will all change by adding you to our conference and together we can work to create a powerful conference together with the likes of FIU, FAU, Ulala, and Ulamo. So what do you say?"-6 points
