  1. To me, Athlon's and Lindy's are a total waste of money. I may look at one when at a bookstore. The only ones worth buying (IMHO) are Phil Steele's, Dave Campbell's Texas Football, and The Sporting News.

  2. I don't really think that either tipped their hand. My money goes to Jim Delany. But, if six bolt to the Pac-10 (not cut and dried) they have to try to cover themselves. Missouri seems to be a done deal regardless of what UT/TAMU et al do. Nebraska just doesn't want to be the only major left at the starting gate. I expect Texas to go to the Pac-10 because that's where the most money will be. I'm disappointed in them. They have turned out to be the greediest of all of the NCAA teams. They deserve Jim Delaney and the Big 10. We should go ahead and establish a Superconference and give them a different classification. It's where we're headed anyway. Then they can take all of the money and keep it. Football is the only NCAA sport not governed by the total membership. Control is in the hands of a few and far, far less is returned to the have-nots than any other sport. The Big Six (soon to be the Big Four) conferences control the process of even being included. I'm amazed that Boise State, Utah and TCU were able to penetrate that stacked deck. I'm all for capitalism as long as it's fair for all. College football is not big business and shouldn't act as such. Don't form more and more powerful cartels which will enentually take an even bigger percentage from the little guy and stifle chances of anyone being included in the elite circle.

  5. This is a sort-of funny look at the Big 12/PAC-10 drama. Language warning. And there is no Belt love either.

  6. I am uneduca†ed when it comes to GMG.com code words and emoticons, so would you just do me a favor, CBL (not that you owe me)? When the news breaks to the uneducated masses, would you identify the news as the one called "Player"? GMG

  8. Texas is an academic snob school, so I see them bailing to the Big 10 over the Pac-10. But, they are also the biggest money whore is college football, so I could see them spreading their legs to a Pac-16 as well.

  10. My bride and I went. It was a very nice event with some food and drinks being provided. The walls of the room were set up with easels and various drawings and photos of the stadium. "Final" images were not changed from what we have seen previously. I was told that the stadium would "open" with seating near the 35,000 range. I think that's been bantered about enough. Talked to RV for a good bit of time. He said he is very very busy with the construction and that things are progressing very well. Cooper was there doing his thing to sell seats and get folks revved up about the stadium and all it means to UNT and the community. Hank was there, but I failed to notice any coaches around while we were in the room but we were there early...around 5:45-6:30PM and then we took off for the Square across the street to enjoy a bit of the "Music on the Square" Thursday night event. Saw several fellow GMG.com folks at the event. All in all it was very nice and well done. I am very glad to see UNT getting "out and about" with this sort of thing. It was a very nice way to let the Denton Community (those perhaps not so close to the program) see what the new stadium is all about. We had a great chat with RV and Cooper. If you can't get excited about what this new stadium means for UNT and Denton, then you must have a very hard time getting excited about anything. Anyway, nice event. Thanks to RV and the dept. for getting it set up. Oh, BTW, there were UNT cheerleaders manning (or should I say "lady'ing") the door to UNT on the Square. I thought that was a nice touch. Thanks to the Cheer squad members for turning out and helping as well. GO MEAN GREEN!

  12. Just about a decade ago, we were beating Boise State and Texas Tech. Now.... Look, as many of us have said all along, you're either serious about it or you're not. For far too long, we were not. New stadium or not, the thing is so far past us now, it's hard to see a way of ever bailing out. The only way now is to just win the whole f'ing thing!

  13. People said the same thing a few years ago, "build the Belt!" Are we any better off today than we were when we were snubbed by CUSA? Is Troy getting any talk about being included in realignment? How many autobids to the tournament do we have? People don't even know the SBC exists, and they never will. It's an anchor around our neck full of schools that can't afford to or don't want to put money into their athletic programs. The WAC is a better conference all around, but mostly in reputation. If this were HS, the WAC would be the quiet kids' table, and the SBC would be the losers table. I have no love lost for this conference; it's abysmal in every way.

  14. Who else can we blame? Ourselves? We need blimp to circle Denton the entire of summer with a big graphic on the side that says: Clash of the Titans 2: UNT vs. TT, be there or die
