Interesting that Davis is being recruited by UNT and North Texas...we must really be after him.3 points

Here's the kid that we've offered (2011 class). He could sign in November: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Trey-Davis-93780?colleges=show#college_choices Here's the offer to the player from the 2010 class. Agree. Just like manufacturing has shifted from the U.S. to overseas (China, India, etc.) where there are no environmental laws or standards. Think only the U.S. pollutes the air Mr. Gore?2 points

USA yawn, obviously is already a member of the Belt. Now, unlike when the Belt searched for more teams and were instrumental in moving FIU and FAU into FB Division football, the Belt does not need teams just to survive. UTSA and TSUSM may not go away, but at this point it is certainly not a done deal that they make it into the FB Division. It certainly would be nice to have more geographically friendly league, however I don't remember any great rivalries being established when we were in the Southland. The closest thing NT had to a rival in that conference was NE La. My guess is a lot of the wild excitement is going to go away after UTSA actually starts playing and starts getting pounded in front of meager crowds. If in time, they are successful then they will get deserved opportunities. They do have a big advantage of being the only game in SA, but as programs like UH, TCU, SMU, Rice and NT playing in a big population center doesn't guarantee much in support in a Big 12 and Pro dominated sports state.2 points

if/when conference realignment happens in the next 18 months or so, cusa eastern division could be adversely impacted. should ucf, ecu, or memphis end up in big east, then the belt is main conference for their replacements. the belt might then have a need for 1aa programs on the way up to 1a, such as texas state and utsa. i am only suggesting that the belt and unt be more pro-active. i also would much rather see tx st and utsa play in denton than fau/fiu.just an opinion.1 point

What irks me, and what I can't fathom, is the "I'm gonna improve the program by refusing to attend games" attitude.1 point

I think it is past time for RV to look at the football program. But that is beside the point. As an alumni, I follow the track team and have been since I finished competing. This is my first time on this board. As a letterman this is what I have seen... It is not necessarily the program that needs replacing or fixing, the fact is the team's resources are slim. The coaches are great and are some of the best ones anywhere around. The men's program has been hit hard with title nine and the budget is next to nothing. WKU has been tearing a part the conference the last few years because of two main reasons: they have a at least 10 foreign athletes and they have a ton of athletes (I think almost double what NT has). They can field athletes in pretty much every event and we can't. That is a huge advantage in track and field. If you look at it though, this is the best team NT has had in years. They have more regional qualifiers than previously and finished 2nd in indoor. Bad meets happen. It just sucks that the bad meet was conference. NT has been placing consistently in the top 3 to 4 the previous years. Same with cross country where most of the guys are walk-ons. The cross country team can't even field a full team because the football team needs back up kickers (title nine). It is frustrating to see you guys not give a crap about track but once a year. They do a hands down better job than the dadgum football team yet you think they suck because they don't win conference. Wake up, they are one of the better teams NT has. With more resources, no telling what those coaches could accomplish.1 point

You're making assumptions and saying those who don't agree or accept what you say have their head in the sand. Rather than see scheduling problems caused by a non-existant team in South/Central Texas 300 miles away and Jerry World extravaganzas, we will most probably see more attractive OC home games with the opening of our new stadium.1 point

90, you should have made a comparison with California & Greece. Riots in both California and Greece .... out of control spending with no restraints .... people leaving California because of the cost of living (taxes) to support the ever increasing government spending & Greece with the already large state government with life long pensions....almost mirrors our unions with the subsequent bailout so they, too like Greece, can have their life long pensions. Both California and Greece do not want to take any financial reductions to solve any collapse of their respective governments. Since the IMF will assist in the bailout of Greece....can you guess who the largest contributor of the IMF is?? USA1 point

And do you "think" things are going O.K. for the United States of American? Do you honestly like what's going on with this country? Give me something positive that's happened since the almighty saviour took office. I don't and can't think of one thing, other than the fact we only have 2-1/2 more years of rule under his kingdom.1 point

There was a special on the Ozone Hole and holes, it aired a few years ago on the Discovery Science Channel and they were saying that ozone holes at both poles were a naturally occurring phenomena. They indicated that aerosols were unlikely to cause problem for the ozone layer. They discussed things like upper atmosphere lighting Sprites and jets doing damage and other natural variables like magnetic fields . They said from ice records the holes have come and gone hundreds/thousands of times over the history of the earth. I am sure it is all man's fault now but who's fault was it before man? At the end of the day most so called experts don't have a clue. So why even speculate that is man made now?1 point

There's hope for improvement in all areas. The schedule is tough, but I think the quality depth at many positions, and bona fide offensive playcalling will alleviate a lot of mistakes/close losses that happened last year. There's a silver lining, and I'm excited. Keep it respectable at Clemson, hell upset them! Keep the fan base intrigued and morale positive. Then come to Fouts and kick Rice's A$$ (hopefully)! If that happens many people will be drinking the kool-aid and there will be a buzz surrounding the program.1 point

The governor of the state of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans initially said they had it covered too. Again, I am glad that the press is not trying to make a political game out of this...just looks like some individuals are...time to focus energy on getting this stopped, cleaned up and learning another lesson. NO ONE wanted this to happen and no one is getting any pleasure out of what happened. The good people of Louisiana and the gulf coast have suffered plenty in recent years, but have come back strong and will again...much to their own initiative and can do spirit.1 point

Western Kentucky wins both men and women's outdoor track crown for third straight year. NT men finish sixth out of ten teams and women end up in third. Alysha Adams was female athlete of the meet. I think it is time for RV to look at the track program, there is no reason NT should continually settle for mediocre in track and field. This meet was at Denton and IMO the results were very disappointing. Congrats to the NT winners but there should have been a lot more.0 points

Proposed by Tallgrass in a CUSA thread. RE: Send out the invites: C-USA 16 Assuming Syracuse, Rutgers, and Pitt to Big Ten and Uconn (travel partner to Boston College) and West Va (travel partner to Maryland) to ACC, I have my fingers crossed that this is the outcome. It keeps travel costs low and keep them lower by playing 6 division games and only 2 crossover games within the conference: CUSA/West with Travel Partner: USM/Tulane Houston/Rice SMU/UNT Tulsa/UTEP CUSA/East with Travel Partner: Cincy/Louisville ECU/Marshall UCF/USF Memphis/UAB http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=4345150 points

USA was already a member of the Belt making their new football team an automatic addition. USF and UAB were originally basketball schools in CUSA maing their startup football program automatic conference additions. With the reported major conference shifts in the near future, who's to say that either/or Texas State/UTSA will make it to the FBS division ?0 points

sort of like usa's new football program. i assume the belt wanted them because of the large mobile market[yawn]. i don't think utsa is going away, and i would bet if they are successful they will get a slot in cusa instead of us or la. tech. also, it would be nice to have a natural intrastate rival such as texas state or utsa. ours with smu is fairly one sided. we dislike them, they could care less about us. just an opinion.0 points

So what was the defensive excuse last year? My only point is the hiring of Canales and Dodge allowing him control of the offense doesn't guarantee a complete turn around. I know TFLF is excited to have all assistants with college experience, but doing a 180 on the team because of one hire smacks of outragous off season optimism. I'll believe when we stay in a game with Clemson for a half, show that we can punt, kick extra points, kick field goals consistently without getting blocked, and produce a defense that is FBS respectable, none of which has yet to occur. Expecting all of this to occur simultaneously is, well, highly optimistic. But, I'll be there, cheering for this to happen.-1 points
