  1. While I was there today.....I did see some medals awarded. We won the men's decathlon and the women's long jump. And in the running events (which I saw)....we were doing well in the prelims and placing a lot of runners in the finals. Hard to tell without a running point total....but looked to me like we were doing very well so far.

  2. So what was the defensive excuse last year? My only point is the hiring of Canales and Dodge allowing him control of the offense doesn't guarantee a complete turn around. I know TFLF is excited to have all assistants with college experience, but doing a 180 on the team because of one hire smacks of outragous off season optimism. I'll believe when we stay in a game with Clemson for a half, show that we can punt, kick extra points, kick field goals consistently without getting blocked, and produce a defense that is FBS respectable, none of which has yet to occur. Expecting all of this to occur simultaneously is, well, highly optimistic. But, I'll be there, cheering for this to happen.

  3. According to what I'm reading this is merely an alliance to acquire a lot more media dollars than each conference would alone. The two conferences contain seven of the top 16 markets which should be very attractive to a network. They actually have teams in all but DFW and Houston and the Big 12 could add TCU and Houston to assure that more than two live games would be played there. The network could then select the best two games each week reach more households than any other single conference which would be a boon for sponsors. They could still divide the much higher revenue on a participation formula with some teams maybe still only getting $5-7M but the top teams could get $25M or more....sort of a win/win situation. It could even mean that the Pac-10 might not have to add any teams. Number 28 San Diego and #31 Salt Lake City are the only other Top 40 markets not already having a team in or near without FBS competition. In addition, we are talking about the two largest states and both are important hotbeds for college football. As to demanding teams being removed; leave that to each conference. Get over yourself. UT has too much going for it to play a heavy in these negotiations. You receive enough revenue now to cut tuition substantially. Why be that greedy?

  7. So, this is now a site where all the pseudo-grammar elites like to hang out? It's amazes me how often one will see some sort of "correction" made by one the grammar-snobs on board just to see the grammar-snob turn around and make an error. But, of course, no ground swell of criticism comes their way after the error. I'll worry about all the grammar and spelling errors when it means something. Here, not so much. I'm looking for content and opinions here, not English lessons. Besides, has all the criticism changed anything? Why not worry about something you can do something about? And, if you can do something about it, why worry? By the way, I thought this was a thread relating to an article on Mean Green signee Blake Dunham. Wow, it's plenty fine to hijack the thread, but don't you dare post in any manner other than the most proper form. Hijacking is allowed, but spelling and grammar must be precise. Nice. OK, grade away grammar snobs.

  8. And this is the grammer you are so proud to display and so quick to beat up on others when they play this game?

  9. As much as I would prefer that a North Texas alumnus be an expert on financial matters, you'll pardon me if I find him a bit more credible than you. "Ed Wallace ,born Louis Smith, is an American radio personality. He is the host of Wheels with Ed Wallace which broadcasts out of Dallas, Texas on radio station KLIF 570 AM. The show, which is also broadcast over the Internet, focuses mainly on automotive subjects. He also writes a weekly column in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and is a contributing writer for BusinessWeek online. Two segments of Wheels with Ed Wallace, which is heard from 8AM to 1PM (Central Time) every Saturday morning, which do not deal with "car talk" are called "Secondhand News" and "The Backside of American History". "Secondhand News" presents news stories which might have been missed over the previous week. "Backside of American History" offers history lessons that have been forgotten on subjects as diverse as the Teapot Dome Scandal and Pancho Villa. The show has been given the Dallas Press Club's Katy Award for "Best Radio Documentary" and Wallace is a recipient of the Gerald Loeb Award from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA for outstanding business journalism."

  11. 90, you should have made a comparison with California & Greece. Riots in both California and Greece .... out of control spending with no restraints .... people leaving California because of the cost of living (taxes) to support the ever increasing government spending & Greece with the already large state government with life long pensions....almost mirrors our unions with the subsequent bailout so they, too like Greece, can have their life long pensions. Both California and Greece do not want to take any financial reductions to solve any collapse of their respective governments. Since the IMF will assist in the bailout of Greece....can you guess who the largest contributor of the IMF is?? USA

  12. You're making assumptions and saying those who don't agree or accept what you say have their head in the sand. Rather than see scheduling problems caused by a non-existant team in South/Central Texas 300 miles away and Jerry World extravaganzas, we will most probably see more attractive OC home games with the opening of our new stadium.
