Really, it's just another example of our downplaying the Belt, when, again, it's our team not being up to Belt standards that's the real problem.12 points

Very well put. Someone beat me to the first +1, so have another. I think it's also a case of trotting out an annual gripe that isn't accurate this year.2 points

Love it! Hilarious. Or maybe he can just throw another tax on the wealthy programs? So teams like Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC will have to re-distribute their massive earnings to lesser programs like UNT? I like the sounds of that as a NT fan, but the problem is that in real life nObama is re-distributing what I and many others have worked so hard for. Won't go any further with that, but your post was hilarious.2 points

dont worry about this, obama will share the wealth with all teams. biden can be the spokesman. maybe teams that dont get invited can get a rebate or something.2 points

(Harry and mods---I know this isn't football related. But will you please keep this on here until Tuesday afternoon? More fans will see it here....than on the UNT sports board): Come “Meet & Greet” the North Texas Tennis team, who defeated FIU this weekend in New Orleans for the title of Sun Belt Conference Champions and will be advancing to the NCAA Tournament! WOW...not taking anything away from the post, but do you really think Colt McCoy "wimped out"? You have got to be kidding with that line of thought. The kid could not even hold on to a football and couldn't throw the thing across a locker room to his dad. Do you really think that Colt McCoy wanted to stay out of that game? I am in no way a Texas fan or a apologist for Colt McCoy, but to think he did not return because he wimped out is really pushing it. I have asked several MD's (one being my son) about that injury and to a one they said it would have been a disaster had he tried to play. Not that he would have done any real damage to himself, but that he would not have been able to pass the ball more than about 5 yards and that without accuracy at all. OK, so play and hand the ball off every play or give your team a chance by inserting healthy yet unproven QB. I know exactly which call I would make. Deep, great stuff on Scott Hall...a great UNT QB. But, I do think you are a bit off base thinking McCoy "wimped out". he may well prove to be injury prone...perhaps why he was drafted as late as he was, and he may not have a long NFL career, but a wimp...I think not. Any kid who has played the number of football games this kid had, and who has played at the level he played and taken the hits in practice and in games that he has over his career, in no wimp. BTW...SCOTT HALL will be in Denton and has committed to play in this year's GMG.com Bowl on Saturday, may 15th...3PM...UNT Soccer Complex. Everyone is invited to come out and play (it's not too late to sign up to play), to tailgate, to watch, etc., etc. Donations will be accepted for the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship fund, but you do not have to donate to come out and enjoy the event. It is open to one and all. Should be fun....come join us!1 point

If the SEC's gonna head west, they need to go Big. Literally. Although I think a Florida expansion is the best option, they could also try to poach Texas, A&M, OU and Okie St. That would be quite a lot to swallow, but it adds a number of good games to the SEC schedule.1 point

No kidding. Just imagine what will happen if we eliminate turnovers, focus on scoring in the red zone, play to win, take it one game at a time, manage the clock correctly and win the special teams battle. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say good things will happen if we take care of those things.1 point

Dez Bryant...the league's next "Randy Moss". To this day Jerry is kicking himself for not taking Moss when he had the chance. He might see this as "redemption time" and go for Bryant...if he falls a bit in the draft which is highly possible. Hey, the guy forgot his shoes at his own pro-day event! Look, as an OSU alum, I can tell you this kid is not a bad kid or a discipline problem. Goofy he is...and I would definitely not let him too close to Marty B on the Cowboys should they draft him, and definitely NEVER let them room together, but Dez Bryant should not be a "problem child" for the Cowboys should they take him. That being said, one never knows "until they know" what new-found $$$$$ millions will do to any kid. I like Dez Bryant for the pick.1 point

YAWN -- thread to thread, begging for someone to finally notice you. If it helps, I gave you a +1. Now, let's not clutter the board with interpersonal bullshit, okay?1 point

Yep, and they suspended Dez Bryant for the season. Some things with the NCAA just make no sense at all. It is certainly all about the money and the influence. Do you think the NCAA is taking its cue from some Mexican drug cartel on how to "win friends and influence enemies"?1 point

By defination, a quitter is a player that leaves our program. A good player looking for more playing time by coming to North Texas after playing somewhere else is a transfer.1 point

Just enjoying the +/- thing and seeing it for what it is. Sorry that what I do or don't do seems to bother you so much. I have advocated against the +/- thing as I felt it would become just what it has, but I do get some "jollies" out of messing around with it. You have your "joys" on the board, I have mine. Folks do some "interesting" things when they think they are anonymous. That's why I let any and all know who I really am and enjoy meeting other GMG.com posters in "real life". Some just seem to avoid that possibility so they can continue to post in anonymity, no problem at all. To each his/her own.1 point

I'd welcome them both. Also, the "quitters" thing needs to die. These guys don't get "four year rides" like most casual fans believe. Their scholarships are either renewed each year or not. Coaches go into these kids' homes and do their sell job on them. If the thing isn't working out and a kid is sitting on the bench, he's just as much in his right to move on as the athletic department is to not renew his scholarship. And, don't kid yourself, sometimes a coach will keep guys sidelined hoping they will leave, for whatver reason. Ask former players and their parents. It's a business in the 21st century and a kid's only got five years. If whatever the coach sold him isn't what is happening in reality, or the kid just isn't living up to the hype, it's fine for him to leave - it's a two-way street.1 point

Good to know that you have the answer. Thanks for that. And, coming from one of the most "loved" posters on this board it means that much more to me.1 point

[Mark Levin voice]I'm glad Todd Dodge put Derek Thompson in the Arkansas State game. There! I said it! I was glad then when I heard it on the radio, and I'm glad now as I sit at my desk and savor the victory of writing another local restaurant chain's insurance. Victory, I tell you! Nothing feels as good as a victory in any endeavor! And, Todd Dodge was trying to get a victory late that afternoon when all of his other quarterbacks were either sick or beaten to hell, I tell ya! And, I'll guaran-damn-tee every last mother's son in here that Derek Thompson feels the same way, too. All of them do! They're football players! American football players. And, these American football players aspire to win. Not like these namby-pamby liberals in Washington, D.C. trying to take our country apart by giving everyone a trophy or ribbon just for showing up! I mean how else are American football players molded except in the crucible of the field of battle? What? Do you think Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and all of their liberal cronies in Austin, Boston, Boulder and Berkeley can just wave a magic wand and make these guys ready to play? The only place you should be rewarded for just showing up and participating is Goldline.[/Mark Levin voice]0 points

"There were a lot of things in the paper that my parents read that said they were interested in me and a lot of stuff on talk radio. Then, they take a quarterback from the same conference as me, not the guy from their own back yard." Dear Mr. Brown, NFL teams don't generally take draft advice from newspapers and talk radio stations. Shut up and prove you can run an NFL-style offense against NFL talent and speed. Then, all doubts will be erased. Love, The Fake Lonnie Finch Sheesh...how is this guy going to handle real pressure if he can't even take a guy being picked ahead of him? Wonder if this dude goes in for manicures and pedicures as well. Awfully catty for a man to carry on in such a manner.0 points

Actually considering 3 of the 7 player drafted were from the same team(Troy), it really shows the progress of Troy and not necessarily the Belt. Also, considering 4 picks came after the 3rd round little can be compared to C-USA 2nd and 3rd round picks, or all 3 1st round WAC picks.-1 points

Should the Big 10 take Pitt and Rutgers it would signal the end of the Big East as a "Big Six" conference and quite possibly as a football conference. There are not enough highly-rated prospects that could give the Big East enough quality teams to keep their status. East Carolina would probably be the only addition that could improve the average. Southern Miss or UCF might make it close but you are getting a long ways from the base of the Big East Conference. Those might be required just to keep the conference viable at eight. I don't know how attractive the Big East would be if they are not a automatic bid conference. Memphis might be interested because of the strong basketball but I'd doubt it. Their best bet would seem to accept Army, Navy, East Carolina, Temple and Marshall. Central Florida would still be interested if South Florida remains a member. If they want to remain an FBS conference the lineup would likely be: Louisville Cincinnati East Carolina Marshall South Florida Central Florida Memphis Temple Army (football only) Navy (football only) Otherwise, I'm afraid that the Big East once again becomes a basketball conference.-1 points

To me the question to me on Colt McCoy is guts. I saw Scott Hall play in so many games taking much worse hits than Colt did. He let his team and his school as well as his legacy down at UT by whimpping out in the biggest game his career will ever see, When a QB quits the mythical BCS Championship game do you really think ANY pro team thinks he can lead them to a Super Bowl? A super UT season went down in flames because of the QB in the last two games. To all but those with the most orange colored glasses, the rest of the world saw it happen. Remember a QB sneak at KSU a couple of years ago took Colt out for the remainder of the season as well. Interesting stat that Scott Hall won seven games his senior season, and the next five NT QB's have won ten total. Seems any fan here should recognize a brittle QB.-2 points

Yes, Ryan Leaf had he played for UT last season would have won that game. Brady, as he was in college, wouldn't have. Next question...-3 points

I like, no really like, picking up Dez in the first round for the cowboys. Now, after saying that I don't get the selection of the LB from Penn state. Didn't Jerry learn about white linebackers from the Big Ten(Carpenter anyone)? Also, people expect us to believe a QB who couldn't go in the first two rounds would have been the decisive player in the national title game????-3 points
