  1. On Tuesday, the NCAA's Legislative Council passed legislation requiring "deserving" bowl-eligible teams to post a .500 record against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents. The changes must still be approved by the NCAA's Board of Directors, which meets later this month. This rule could have a couple of effects if it's approved by the NCAA's Board of Directors. First, the BCS conferences will not be able to send their 6-6 eighth and ninth place teams to bowls if one of their victories is against 1-AA schools (Playoff Subdivision). The other result is that realizing that, lower tier BCS schools will now urgently need to schedule those non-BCS-auto-bid-league schools to replace the 1-AA's. Prices for home-no-return games are going to skyrocket further, and more home-and-home series will subsequently be scheduled. We are certainly getting a new stadium at the right time. read under: THE COUNCIL ALSO:

  2. All I can is if we do go to this bowl i'll take advantage of one of the things Bush did right, the right to carry my gun anywhere in the U.S.

  3. I'm counting on Coach Jones to take a guy most people second guess and turn him into a great player...it would not be the first time.

  4. This is a classic JJ signing. Find the former high school stud who hasn't worked out yet and bring him into the Mean Green family to watch him develop and grow into his potential. Edwards is a signee we all would have drooled over if signed out of high school. My guess is that this will turn out to be another fantastic JJ signing despite all the concerns noted on this board. But I like that we have gotten to a point where we scrutinize and question signings who were formally nationally ranked or very highly regarded...shows how far we have come in our program.

  7. Gotta say, the NCAA is on a roll. I like a lot of their recent rules changes: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5092774 BTW...would this have prevented Troy LB Bear Woods from painting his face like a raccoon?

  9. Upon reading the whole article: I'm not so sure about that tougher rule against taunting. We've seen refs be so idiotic on what they call taunting. Man, there are gonna be some hacked off fans when a TD gets called back because of someone doing something minor.

  12. They're considering dropping the NIT for this joke? Really, not many people care about the NIT. However, it is a good tourney, and once the final four shake out, you have really good basketball. Winning the NIT (or even a final 4 showing) is a nice momentum builder for NCAA bubble teams as well. I am against this. But in the end, the NCAA will do whatever makes more money... so it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks.

  15. Tune. I'm don't want to take anything away from Thompson but at this point all we have is one series in a throw away game last season and a spring against a defense that we know won't really "bring it" because he's their teammate. With Tune I know that he has at least faced Alabama, troy and some time against others in "live" play. All I'm saying is it's far easier to be a practice all-star...unless Thompson is head and shoulders above I'd go with the experienced signal caller.

  18. I think most of us second guessers would be very happy with a great player. Obviously, JJ sees something in Edwards that has not been evident in his play for the last three years. I think he has been doing a very good job getting people who fit in his structure and it is hard to argue with his success. However, he or any other coach don't hit on every recruit. It's not so much that Edwards is not a good prospect, it is just strange to me that with a winning program and only one ship to give at the time; NT would use it on someone that had a very average year on a mediocre juco team. There has to be a big upside with Alonzo that JJ is betting on and I would not be too surprised to see him prosper at NT, but I do wish NT had got a big man with less question marks. Just out of idle curiosity I would like to know what player has JJ recruited that deserves the "great" tag that the majority of fans questioned his recruitment?

  19. I could have sworn he had, but now I see I was wrong. Anyway Evan Grant just tweeted that Feliz is the new "temporary" closer and that Fransisco will return eventually.
