I can barely understand that Mutombo guy from Georgetown or Olajuwan from Houston.2 points

I like how they tanked their old stadium Jerry Jones-style, made it as uncomfortable as possible for fans and then held out until the vote finally passed for the holy grail. That's pro sports quality bullshit with none of the contracts and egos on the field - the way God intended sports to be played.2 points

I had an interview all set up and it fell through. So I need a last minute fill-in. Has anyone started a business in the last 5 years that is not a restaurant/bar/apparel company and do you have plans to grow it? It won't take up much of your time. I figure 30 minutes tops and can be face to face, over the phone, or through email/IM, whichever is easiest for you. Thanks.1 point

I'm counting on Coach Jones to take a guy most people second guess and turn him into a great player...it would not be the first time.1 point

Here's what one person replied: I hope our stadium really is coming in $10 million under budget. That money could be used to make a baseball park and an indoor practice facility.1 point

I started a telecommunications/networking company 10 years ago, which I'm still running, and a custom car shop about a month ago. ...if that helps, I'm happy to help out a fellow UNT'er. Let me know if I can help you out.1 point

He is in a foreign country leading an arm of Al-Qaeda. Is that not a Battlefield? This is terrorism. There are no clearly defined battlefields. To me, denouncing your country and leading an arm of an organization that is bent on the destruction of all Christian Americans is pretty much leading the battlefield charge when it comes to terrorism.1 point

Good stuff. I know I'm now excited and I know you are too. However hickoryhouse, I will remind you how excited we were about last year's team. And then it was all down hill from week 2 on.1 point

Nice poem. Now, how about an answer to the real world scenerio in my previous post.0 points

A rebuttal: James Madison - let the White House get conquered by a bunch of British. If it wasn't for his wife, we'd have lost some valuable artwork. Jimmy Carter - almost got his ass kicked by a deranged aquatic swamp rabbit. Stuff like that made us lose face in front of the communists. John Tyler - was secretly Spanish, and he spent his entire term exporting precious specie to his homeland. Martin Van Buren - killed a bunch of prostitutes and buried them in the rose garden. Sort of like a "Jack the Ripper" with a bully pulpit. Warren Harding - seriously, he was probably the worst president we've ever had. A disgrace on almost all fronts, and a caretaker of shameful corruption. Even on a joke list, Harding has to be included.0 points

This terrorist will look like all his other buddies in the field & if he gets hit with hot lead from some Marine or takes an air to surface missle then that is too bad. I really do not think that there is "any" special attempt to seach this traitor out just to give him a fair trail. Let him take his chances. The US had a similar situation a few years ago with some anglo California kid from a well to do family being captured in Afganistan with some of his buds. Couldn't tell 'em apart....dirty, nasty looking, bearded & traditional clothing. I still remain a little concern about the special power of the POTUS to issue kill orders on what is stated as terrorists. It still remains an ambiguous term how it is used and how it might apply to someone who may disagree with state policy.0 points

Do you know what "getting one's goat" is? If you learn one thing from our bantering I hope it is that!0 points

Figures that the PR Department would put the schedule news release on a refrigerator magnet. Most news desks stopped using magnet releases decades ago, especially with the internet being so prominent. Man, you had your mortal enemy (marketing and promotions) right in your cross-hairs on this one and you whiffed terribly with a shot at public relations. I expected more...well actually I expected about this level of quality, but in a longer, more ellipse-filled, rambling, quotation mark-dotted form.0 points

Yes after this season I will be singing a different tune. I will buy season tickets and start giving to the University again, because Dodge will be gone and the program will be going in the right direction.-1 points

Bump...a couple of players added...see list in thread...still need palyers and player bios and t-shirt sizes. Folks, PLEASE help me out here...I am close to calling out the "US Special Forces" to get some of you "focused"...HA! As radiogreen said...it's a great time...football, beer, special one of a kind t-shirts, scholarship fund money raised and you get to meet some of the folks who post ugly things about you here on GMG.com...what could be better than that????-1 points

It is a game, but it's not much fun whipping the tether ball up the pole while Rocky Dennis touches himself in the corner. Smug or not, do you know what PR is? If you learn only one thing from our bantering, I'd like for it to be that.-1 points

Flyer...we will play with the amount that shows up be it 10 or whatever. This "ain't" the SuperBowl, officially sanctioned flag football association game or anything like that. I think everyone has played a little "touch or flag" football with fewer than 16 players. But, at this point we have 17 "known" commits, and I am certain there are a few more waiting in the wings to actually place their names on the "official" list of players. As the "commissioner" I deem that there will be a game and it will be fun! And, there will be sore guys (and maybe ladies) on Sunday who thought they were in better shape than they really are, but that everyone will leave the field alive! And, of course, that there will be beer! Spectators welcome and encouraged as well. Speaking of beer...do we have anyone at this point looking to "coordinate" tailgate activities or should we just "go it on our own" and hope? Am open for suggestions and volunteers. Perhaps if you aren't planning on playing but want to be "involved" in some manner other than spectator, you would want to head up this most important and critical aspect of the day's events? If so, PM me or let it be know right here...otherwise, we'll just be "on our own" and look for folks to bring beverages and food as they might. One rule...have fun...OK, second rule...don't yell at the referee (Flyer)!-1 points

Worst Presidents: FDR: Took America way too far into a socialist society way too fast. LBJ: Kept us on the path that FDR laid out. BHO: Nailing the last nails in the coffin from FDR & LBJ. Wilson: Gave away our ability to control our own money to the internationalist bankers...Federal Reserve. Got us into a European Civil War to save all the money they lent the Brits and the French. If WW kept our boys home in 1917 would a second trip been necessary by FDR? Carter: Spineless but got to have loved 24% interest rates. Truman: 1st prez not to allow us to win a war. 80% of US casulties came defending the 38th Parallel.-5 points
