I read on facebook that Collin Mangrum is graduating this year and going to grad school elsewhere next year. Could this be an extra scholarship for us?3 points

The NCAA is considering a move to 96 for one reason; MONEY. Mid-majors will have the same struggle for representation.2 points

Just look at all the great things ULM has accomplished since this was published in 2006.1 point

This information was also published in yesterday's print edition of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. I think it is a good deal for him to be leading this group. He has a real interest in athletics - among other things. He was chairman of the board of regents when the funding for the Athletic center was found and also when Dr. B was hired as president. We will be in good shape with him as head of the group.1 point

If this is true, and there's no reason not to believe it given that Mangrum has been an academic all-star at every honors ceremony I've ever attended AND he's already spent 4 years in school because of his injury/redshirt situation... This is a win-win-win for Mangrum, the program, and whoever picks up the scholarship that would otherwise have to go to an inferior team. Mangrum gets some grad school paid for AND he gets a chance to play somewhere that minutes won't be so scarce. We get to reach out to one of the big name transfers or one of the few state HS recruits that aren't committed elsewhere, and ease the transition pain we're facing after next season. If he ends up leaving, I'll be sad to see him go. He's gone through a lot to contribute to this team, and his shooting and defensive tenacity will be missed. But he'll have a chance to do what Dez Willingham did when he came here 2 years ago- Find a situation where he can play and contribute more than he might have gotten the chance to do here, AND work on his graduate education. I just wish he'd had a chance to get his well deserved round of applause at senior night. Also, big +1 for the find. Thanks for posting it here.1 point

So instead of 6 teams from the Big 12 getting in, now 10 will, and so on with the power 6 conferences. Don't mistake this as an olive branch to the small conferences. It isn't. I hate this idea. Why mess with perfection?1 point

McGhee is going to be an incredible addition to the team. McGhee, along with Babb if he comes here, would be an imposing set of shooting guard and small forward that other teams will have a horrible time trying to defend. Both can drive to the basket as well as they nail the outside shot.1 point

I have been working on a project at west point for the last couple of months. The cheapest most reliable way I have found to get there is to fly AA. The cost has been around 260 round trip to White Plains Westchester county airport. (HPN) This airport is quick in and easy out, compared to all of the places I travel to. You fly from DFW to Chicago, then take an American eagle flight to White Plains. It is a 25 to 35 minute drive to Manhatten south, depending on traffic. The drive up to the USMA (West Point) is about 25 to 30 minutes through a scenic mountain range. There is also a train (subway) straight up to the garrison from NYC. The guys that are working on the site say that the Newburgh flights are dicey, as there are only a few in there a day and you can get stuck. I have been staying at the Sheraton Tarrytown in White plains. It is very nice and runs about 125 a night which is reasonable. For those who want to stay in NYC, I think the train is an interesting option. The airline tickets if you choose this option in to Newark are usually cheaper than the other two airports. All being said, everyone is really going to enjoy West Point. The architecture and history are unbelievable. It is definatly something to see.1 point

Stewart is usually a pain, in the past there has no non-stops and the price tends to be high at times. It is the closest to West Point but with limited flights it gets interesting at times. I have had friends get stuck when there is an issue, like in Chicago, Philly or Cincinnati. I heard that a couple airlines have stopped serving Stewart and I am fairly sure American Airlines stopped flying to Stewart for a few years now. Plus most of the airlines that serve Stewart have only one flight a day. Albany may be another option. But Newark is the best bet when going upstate, the rental cars are usually a good bit cheaper then New York and you can just get on the Jersey turnpike right outside the airport. I prefer Newark over JFK or La Guardia in this situation, plus it is the easiest to get to when heading back to the City. While on the Jersey turnpike crank up "Woke Up This Morning" by A3 Songfacts.1 point

More fatalities expected all in the name of Climate Change. Fuel-Economy Rules Set EPA Climate-Change Standard Existing technologies also means making vehicles lighter in order for them to reach the required standards. So with that said, keep in mind what the NHTSA told us last year. Per the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration: Corporate Average Fuel Economy for MY 2011 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks, Rick0 points

Why don't we all just drive tanks then. My Nissan is just under the new MPG requirements. But when 2016 rolls around and I want a new one. I would like to think that there is enough technology to make the same model get better mileage. Lets not act like we will all have to drive around in smart cars.0 points

My point is that because our president is a black guy, a largely white, conservative, and often rural crowd is starting a movement to air their political frustrations. I seriously have a hard time believing that there is not a strong under current of racism at work here. I am not saying it's the parties platform, but to say racism is not an element is laughable.-1 points

I prefer realist. You can be as optimistic as you want about shoving a school bus up a rhino's a&@, but that doesn't mean you are going to be any more successful. We need an alternative fuel source badly, but unfortunately there isn't a viable one at this time.-1 points

Where will a family of 6 put the kids? In the trunk? More government control over every aspect of our lives is just around the corner unless things change (see: midterms)-1 points

I believe Pres. Obama is the repercussion. It's called an election. Pres. Obama was elected to fix the economy. He hasn't. If he doesn't by October, there will be a bloodbath. It's the economy, stupid. (It's a quote, not aimed at you)-1 points

Obama isn't going to fix the economy, he's going to reform it like he wants to do with everything else.-1 points

Families shouldn't have 6 kids (my opinion). You get what you get if you can't control that aspect of your life. The midterms are not going to be the blood bath that you expect. Oh sure....the right will keep using fear to sway the ignorant, and they will win more seat, but it's not going to be the bloodletting that some of you think. The majority won in 2008, and they are still there in massive numbers.-2 points
-
Yep, maybe we should limit children to one per couple. Sound familiar? Are you really willing to relinquish control of your life to the federal government? Hasn't worked too well for any people that have tried it. The mid-terms will be an absolute bloodbath (as long as unemployment isnt under 7.5 percent by that time, which it won't be). You can't continue to drive an economy into the ground without repercussions.-2 points

Not really, just whipped by you and those like you that keep bringing crap like this up ad nauseum. This administration is no worse than the last one. Give it up dude. This whole conversation is becoming a thrashing of the highest order. Your side will never agree with my side. Deal with that and move on please.-3 points
