  1. Everything I'm hearing causes me to picture practices with Canales at one end, sweating and tearing into the offense, DeLoach at the other end doing the same to the defense, and Dodge sitting indian style on a sideline playing minesweeper on his cell phone.... a prospect which greatly excites me.

  8. Good research, Quoner....... I like teams that play great defense, have a sound kicking game, and run the ball mixed with play action passes. That pretty much describes the teams that went to four New Orleans Bowls. I really thought the man could keep it going and get a nice promotion to a higher level school. We all know that it didn't work out that way, but I sure enjoyed those three and one-half years of fun.

  9. Take the school allegiance out of it. Imagine you know a coach who has worked his way up through the ranks, paid his dues, and proven himself. You've gotten to know this a coach and you respect him professionally and like him personally. Would you want to see this person who you like and admire coach for $200,000 in the Sun Belt Conference or for $700,000 in the SEC? I want Coach Jones to stay here, but he's earned the right for his shot at the bigger stage and the bigger money, and that's all the reporters are saying.

  11. 1. I think is a given...I know I fall directly into the boat of a person working a job he isn't terribly passionate about b/c of its benefits while putting my entrepreneurial wants on hold...and I'm certainly not the only person in that category. 2 is of course always a risk. A crap economy is the ideal time to start a business. If i had access to affordable health care without my current job I would be off creating business and stimulating the economy. No need for the . I'm not being terribly subtle.

  12. Since we're just gonna ignore the cooperative economic elephant that is the EU in terms of the rise of the Celtic Tiger...I'll just say Ireland has universal health care. And low taxes?

  16. I've read where they are offering up to 2 million for their next coach. I love JJ , but if they are going to pay that kind of $ the resume better be a little better than just 2 SunBelt conference championships

  17. No way Auburn gives this job to a coach without a win (at UNT) over a top 25 opponent and without tournament success. Ever. Not a shot at JJ, just an observation.

  18. I'll give it a go. It's great! No responsibility for me to provide a basic need for my family, because the government will. Whose the government and where do they get that money? Me... and you. So, if I can artsy-fartsy it up without having to worry about paying for a service, because other hard-working people will, why not? As a matter of fact, why don't we all quit our productive jobs with secure benefits and chase our dreams. For me, that dream is being a professional basketball player. I'm over 40? How dare you try and limit my dream by placing an obvious discriminatory label on me!!! THAT'S MY DREAM!! IT'S MY RIGHT!!! I don't have to worry about health care, cause good old CBL will take care of my part. Man, I will feel so good about myself, and that's what it's all about, right? Socialism/communism is great in theory, but a failure in pratice every single time that it has been enacted. Why? It assumes (Unlike Speaker Pelosi's quote) that everyone will work hard for the same pay and benefits. Human Nature doesn't work that way and never will. Speaker Pelosi really needs to grow up and become an adult. EDIT: The soul-sucking effect the increase in taxes for this monstrosity will have on entrepreneurialism will severely limit anyone who wants to start any kind of new business.

  20. I thought I had teed this one up for you quite well considering the latest attempt by this Marxist regime to rape our constitution, which is now being legally contested by 37 states, and how it will in one portion or another, deal with the interstate commerce clause, to which legalizing the sale of dope will no doubt be related. It's a concern to me, as it should be to everyone, that if they can make you buy health insurance they can make you buy anything? Not sure how it will all play out, but we shall see? Rick

  22. Hmmm. Well, Dodge himself said when Chico was hired that he was turning over the QB coaching, gameplanning, and playcalling to him. Was he just lying for the sake of lying?

  26. "Here's UNT's spring football schedule. The spring game will be on the 11th at 3 p.m. at Fouts Field. The note I received only indicated that practice is open for media types to watch. I didn't ask specifically, but I believe that fans are allowed to watch from outside the fence as well.".. Brett Vito From outside the fence, if at all? I have just about had it with this non-sense. Am I really going out on a limb here?...closed practices have done NOTHING to help this program in three straight seasons, and we going back to it for season four? Let the freakin fans and Alums watch their team, PLEASE! June Jones had no problem allowing us to watch SMU practice this past season, and they won? I am still not allowed to watch my own team? Really, at 5-31? If we were winning conference titles every year and the "double-secret probation" thing was working, fine.. but it's NOT WORKING. The last coach who allowed us watch OUR team won FOUR conference titles and took us to FOUR straight bowl games. We were allowed right there on the field with those guys, and they were winning. Note to coaches.. THAT was WORKING. Good luck finding a fan selling the UNT playbook on the internet.. Give me a freakin break. Rick V., please finally do something about this. GMG!!! PS: Apologiies to you guys for my whining. I dont post often these days, but "Come on Man???"

  27. If you ask me, the only logical way to celebrate/display our already assured conference championship is with preemptive neck tattoos for the coaching staff.

  29. so let's reduce capacity because of the conference we play in? how about change scheduling to better opponents fans want to see. or a better conference?

  31. I know it would be a great opportunity for Coach Jones, but why do these sports writers, MacMahon and Vito, seemingly want Jones to go? Great for JJ to move up, eventually, but he has some unfinished business at UNT.

  32. "UNT will begin installing new wrinkles in its offense immediately. Dodge said running backs Micah Mosley and Jeremi Mathis are prime candidates to become utility players who UNT will use as H-backs in the running and passing games." Good. This is something I suggested last year. Looks like having Canales aboard is already paying off.
