  1. I got to talk with BCS Administrator Bill Hancock on Friday. He was a speaker at a conference I was attending in OKC. He went to the games on Thursday and complimented the North Texas band as the "best basketball band" he's ever heard! Bill has heard a basketball band or two in his day, he was a manager of the NCAA tournament before he went to work for the BCS. He's also pretty musical...so I give him some credit for knowing what he's talking about! I highly recommend his book, Riding with the Blue Moth. It's about him taking a cross-country cycling trip while dealing with the loss of his son, Will, who was killed in the 2001 plane crash that took the lives of several members of the Oklahoma State basketball family. 5. Basketball-wise you may be right. Academic-wise, it is not in his interest. He has been here two years and has already finished the majority of his core classes (I assume). It would be an unwise move for his future because he isn't going pro in basketball.

  6. With the price of oil on the continual rise of over $80 per barrel why does the U.S. Congress lay dormant in drilling so that we can become energy independent? http://washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/18/obama-surrenders-gulf-oil-to-moscow/ http://www.adn.com/2008/06/12/434045/china-drilling-for-oil-off-florida.html With the restrictions placed on our oil and gas companies we have become the slaves to those countries that have the readied supplies to sell at their price. Case in point. Look at the E.U. who is dependent upon the Russian reserves in their country. Look how much we are dependent upon other countries. The United States has plenty of reserves that we can get at now and help drive down the price of oil if we pump it like a prostitue. At the same time we can always explore alternative fuels that will make us independent in the future. However, the future is now....pump it.

  8. Why all the small thinking? We need to figure out what deck level of the new stadium will display the UNT Ring of Champions?

  10. DRC If it's between these 3 , give me Babb. He averaged almost 10ppg in the Big Ten so I think he would do pretty well in the Belt. He could be our go to guy for 2 years

  12. And that would be a $1.5 Million program defeating an $8.2 Million program. Interestingly, they didn't have a single non-D 1A program on their regular schedule and had non conference wins over Iowa State, Iowa, East Carolina, Siena, Boston College, Wyoming and Old Dominion. Awesome! Rick

  13. And that's a $1.9 Million budget basketball program downing a $6 Million program. Nice win. It just stuns me when I see these poorer budgeted programs getting it done, Cornell being the most amazing to me, considering they only spend a paltry $925,269 on their men's basketball team. Rick

  14. Over 17,000 deaths in Mexico since Prez Calderon took office. http://laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=353644&CategoryId=14091 Of course all this is spilling into the United States with Mexican and Central American drug gangs roaming our streets, please do not be naive. Look at the most notorious, MS-13 with chapters all over the United States. Personally, I could really care less if the drug gangs kill each other but what scares me more than anything else is the innocent toll it takes on unsuspecting families that are in the wrong place or who are mis-identified by the gangs. One only has to read past stories of Mexican officials and their families moving to the United States to keep from getting killed....and most recently the police chief of Juarez.

  15. OK, shame on the person who gave me a negative one for this post...just where is your sense of humor???? Ha! I probably deserved the negative one because I was so focused on Eppy/Scrappy that I missed Josh White being on the cover as well. I see him now...he's in between the legs of Collins. Maybe that's why I didn't see him in the first place...I'm not in the habit of looking in that area. Man, some of you folks just have no sense of humor AT ALL!

  16. The dumbing down of American. Or, reduce the U.S. so it falls in line with other 2nd tier or 3rd world countries. Just unbelievable how we are destroying ourselves from within.
