  1. Read how pissy Lee Jackass gets over Bataille's attempt to move some classes in Dallas to another place. What a pompous jerk he is: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/drc/opinion/editorials/stories/DRC_editorial_0313.1a10a7edb.html

  2. Bataille didn't see us as 'little ole' North Texas' and wanted to make sure we never were anything less than we should be. Jackson sees the NT system as a glorified Junior College and will make sure he is right. Please get this Joker away from my school.

  3. I agree. I went there for the Okla.State-UNT basketball game after the groundbreaking event, and they had the TCU football game on- I asked them to change it to the game and he said "We have some TCU customers here" Unbelievable. I asked him if I was in Ft. Worth if they would be televising tghe UNT game instead of TCU. I left shortly thereafter.

  5. I understand the gripe, but I find it amazing that this subject has consumed a 4-page thread. The event is going to be at the Pourhouse--it's a done deal. Go or don't go.

  6. I mostly agree with the editorial, but it's pretty one-sided. And the writer's little tirade against the state legislature is out of place. I do hope it makes the BOR and LJ realize how unhappy people are with Dr. Bataille's forced "resignation," and that this isn't just going to go away.

Coach Johnny Jones: George Odufuwa: Josh White: Eric Tramiel: Celebrating the Sun Belt championship: The final score from the SBC title game: Odufuwa's shot block in the closing seconds: Eric Tramiel on defense: All are also at Mean Green World.

  8. I certainly think UNT can win it's first game in the Big Dance this time. I guess, if I had one question to ask, it would be: 1. How much do we miss Brett Vito now?

  9. First, there are many businesses that support UNT not just the Pourhouse. If the Athletic Department announced this even would have been at The Pit or the Athletic Center, I'm sure that Pourhouse would not have felt "blackballed." Second, if I wanted to watch it on TV I can stay at home and drink cheaper beer. I was hoping UNT would treat this like the big event that it is and not have the gathering at a local bar that will pretty much not allow any guests into the media room. Count on it - between the team, their families, administrators, coaches and their families, only VIPs will be allowed in that room.

  11. Can we boycott the stupid green wigs at this event? I have a theory that this is the reason that they didn't show us last time.

  12. The point of hosting a selection show event is for fans to interact and "be with" the coach and team as the selection is announced. To see the team's reaction and cheer for them. The venue needs to be large enough to enable everyone to be together that is there for that show. I love the Pourhouse's support for NT athletics but unless they clear out the tables in the main dining room I don't know where they have the space to put 200-300 people together at that location.

  13. i'll be in vegas at a sportsbook watching this and placing a bet!!! GO MEAN GREEN!!! i would love to be here for this and think the pourhouse is a good venue for this event.

  14. I love the Pourhouse....great food, great service. But to me, if you're going to be at this event...you want to be in the same area (media room or patio) where the coaches and players are. If you're saying that all the other TVs are going to be on....that doesn't do much for me. For one thing, it's not as if UNT has the whole place reserved. So what if you're watching it in the restaurant area, and a lot of the other customers are folks who aren't there for the Selection Show. They're gonna be talking during the show....and you probably won't be able to hear it. So the fact that it's gonna be on all the TVs...doesn't do much for me. Please no offense intended. I love your brother's sports bar. Great place, great food. I just don't think it's the best venue for this event.

  17. Forbes.com:Toyota Hybrid Horror Hoax Just like this guy's story above, I suspect this whole Toyota mess is a bunch of crap! It's strange, being a Ford guy and all, defending Toyota. But I just don't buy the stories that there's this massive problem with their cars. Their QC history has just been too good over the years. Rick

  19. The Pourhouse is fine. It's accessible for non-students (which means those that have money) and students alike (cuz its close). As far as being too small: it fits the size of the true fan base. They have been the most dedicated to the Cause the whole season. Its kind of a biatch to get any local places to put on the unt games. "what? oh UT doesn't play til 8" "what game?" "who?" So after having been at that Ball St opener, and because JJ wants it there, it should be fine by us.

  20. Maybe she did, but that's how she saw her job. She was never going to be the "little woman" and she obviously didn't know how petty and ruthless Jackson could be. I feel sorry for both Dr. B. and our University. After this incident, I seriously doubt that we will ever get as strong an advocate as Dr. B, to be our President again. Jackson has to go.

  21. That's the point....I shouldn't have to get there early to be a part of it. Access is the key to if this event works at your location, or not.

  23. I don't think they would have felt blackballed at all, but boycotting it would send that message. They are treating it like a big deal, they are planning on taking the place over. These types of events are why he opened the place. Also whats the harm in some average people being there and catching some Mean Green Fever. I have nothing but respect for you Flyer for all you've done. Isn't this the main problem with our base? the lack of financial support of the program and supporters of the program. The Ball State game there was one of the best things I've watched on TV outside of Idaho or the NO Bowl in 02. As I stated in the first place, ask Coach Jones why he picked the venue

  24. Yes, because the one place that has supported NT athletics all season long should be blackballed on a day when they stand to reap significant gain. Great way to build loyalty with local business owners. Have the selection show on every TV throughout the bar, have tv's outside, problem solved.

  26. Wow, what a great "problem" to have. Trying to figure out if a place is big enough to hold all the fans who might turn out! When was the last time this was a "problem"? I, for one, hope this turns into an annual "problem" and not just for basketball. I could argue the site both ways, but the fact that we have a "Selection Show" event is enough! When one is looking for media coverage it is always better to see a packed room (even if the room is smallish) than a big half-empty space. In the past when I have watched "Selection Shows" I do not recall many being held at "commercial" establishments. I tend to think most are held on-campus. BUT, the Pourhose is a great "friend", they have cold beer and good food. It is a "good thing" that UNT is returning the favor and helping a "friend" on what is normally a fairly slow day I would assume...at least at that time on a Sunday. GO MEAN GREEN! This is a great time to be a member of the Mean Green Nation.

  27. SUMG and NT80, I definitely don't disagree with either of you on that. The actual being there around the team when it happens. The media room probably is too small in that regard. I think everyone envisions in just packed with MG faithful, Sundays are always slow especially early evening/afternoon. I'd say lets see how it goes. I'm planning on this team going to many more tourneys so we'll try out some different venues if this doesnt work I appreciate the comments about the place. Don't ever hold back either because it's not personal.

  29. This sort of stuff really saddens me. It just keeps coming.....It just tells folks that you need to "get involved" and you need to vote. You need to do what you can to support candidates who you personally have researched, read about, heard speak, know something about, know of their backgrounds, etc. A person seems inclined to "say anything" to get elected these days (what ever happened to personal integrity?), but if you can find enough info about the persons "actions" before running for election you might actually have the hope of supporting someone who will stand with you and your ideas of a "just and great" nation, state or locality. In reality, it matters not which party you support as long as you know...actually know...what it is you think you are supporting. Way too many people run a great campaign, but the second they take the oath of office you can't even recognize them. Party is of no significance.

  30. When I first read the story I was a little flabergasted about the audacity but after a little thought I really do not think that this will pass in full. However, we may see some restrictions on how much one can catch in American waterways but see a greater restriction off our coastlines, probably, because of some United Nations agreement. I, like other conservatives, see a large powergrab by our government to become completely centralized.....a nice way of saying socialistic in nature. The more one throws all the "little stuff" against the wall.....like this fishing legislation.....some of these trite pieces of legislation may sneak through and pass. The big question is "IF" the Republicans start winning seats in Congress and at one point take over the Presidency and both houses of Congress will they repeal all these pieces of legislation? Will a Republican majority begin to drastically cut federal spending in "ALL" areas or will they do nothing? They have basically done nothing in the past to repeal Democrat legislation and my fear is they will continue this m.o..
