Back in the early 90's, I was in charge of the Fouts Field press box for a Class 3A playoff game between Southlake Carrol and Frisco High. JJT was a lowly stringer (freelance writer) covering HS Football for the DMN. He showed up and demanded a front row seat, moving the writers from the Frisco, Southlake and Grapevine papers (the local beat writers). When I informed him that he was not in charge of the press box, he went into a rant about being with the Morning News and making a complete ass out of himself. I told him to take a seat in the back row and shut the F Up. His girlfriend was with him and I threw her out because she wasn't working press. JJT wrote a letter to the SID complaining about his treatment. I told the SID about how he acted and he wrote back basically telling JJT to go F himself. Taylor has always been a pompus ass, who couldn't write his way out of a paper bag. The only reason he still is at the DMN is his knees are dirty. All of the talented writers are at ESPNDallas.com, or are making a 6 figure salary, which is a lot more the Jean-Jaques' Fat ASS!!!6 points

This a HUGE for UNT. This is bigger than the 2007 run, without a doubt. The press coverage we are receiving is tremendous. The fan turnout was spectacular. The atmospher after winning this thing makes me want to cry. A manly cry. This will do so much for our university, and we have a team that can win in the first round next week. I'm too choked up to say more... other than this... I will remember this night for the rest of my life and I am SO GLAD I made the trip.5 points

Unsung hero - Alzee Williams contributed in 5 minutes: 2-2 FG, 4 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal, and great defense...and, of course, valuable minutes for Josh to rest with no drop off in team production....4 points

live and breath UNT BBall. When guys like me were a little skeptical when we were 11-7 you guys said keep the faith. Two NCAA tourney appearances for JJones has to answer the questions about the BBall program. I've really enjoyed this 12 game run but I bet you diehards have REALLY enjoyed it. gmg3 points

I slapped this together this morning. I took some images from the ESPN360 broadcast, so the image quality is not good. The design is too busy, but it's for re-living the great moments from last night: the go-ahead basket, the shot block, and the celebration. Click on the image size below. 1024x768 | 1280x1024 | 1440x900 | 1680x1050 | 1920x1080 I will try to have something better later this week or this weekend.2 points

They showed it on ESPN's college basketball show. Gottlieb and Jay Williams both commented on how great a block it was.2 points

An appropriate song for the evening! http://www.buckinghamnicks.net/lb/MP3/dancincrosstheusa.mp3 The wife left me at home with both the F5 and F4 tonight to see John Mayer, both kids had baseball practice starting at 5:30. So I missed the first half to say the least, although I listened while instructing T Ball hell. But what a way to make up for it because like the Tasty said it would, the planets aligned.... Last year during my vacation selections I flubbed and miss marked the 4th of July slot(a slot counts for 4 shifts). So the chief asked if there was another slot next year(2010) I would prefer? Since it was early in the selection round, Spring break was open, I got it. We win and qualify for the tournament and for once I don't have to beg, plead and pay someone to work my shift, and the wife won't have to beg her principal to get a travel day off and if we get a selection close the whole tribe will be DANCIN!!!! It's great how things work out like that? It's all FREAKIN' Good and All FREAKIN' GREEN!!! Rick2 points

What I wrote to the Sports Editor of the DMN Garry Leavell @ gleavell@dallasnews.com Garry, I find the lack of coverage of the UNT participation in the SBC Championship Game Tonight very very discomforting to say the least. To add insult to injury your staff has decided that heavily promoting an article about TCU and SMU's lack of a basketball program that performs was more valuable to your readers than reading about UNT's season long accomplishments and potential tournament appearance decided tonight. With over 100,000 Alumni in the DFW area, the 4th largest school in Texas is just up the street and many consider Denton to be as part of DFW as is Rowlett or Grapevine. How could you justify burying the story of UNT over this coulda, woulda, shoulda story of two schools that combined do not have the active enrollment of UNT? I find it very uncouth to have made this decision which has obviously (see the comments on the story) disturbed many of your readers. JJT is already considered by many to be a controversial figure but his article has placed the nail in the coffin for my opinion of him as a true local news writer. Some facts about UNT's season that should be brought to reader attention are as follows: 1.) Second Tourney visit (potentially) in 4 yrs. 2.) Johnny Jones is in his 7th year as a coach and we have now had over 4 yrs in a row of 20+ win seasons 3.) We beat OSU on our turf last year and had a very formidable game against top 25 ranked TAMU this year (outscoring them second half) 4.) We set a school record in most games won in a season 5.) Most of our talent returns next year for another round of a great season Please ensure that tomorrow's headlines incorporate a least a little bit of enthusiasm for DFW's largest school and their hard-earned and triumphant season of basketball. Thanks so much, Jozef Foerch2 points

Did you check out the newspaper itself? The Mean Green is all over the college sports section with photos, etc. I think we need to be a bit "careful" about the "rage" here. I think today's coverage in the paper itself is great and appropriate..UNT even got a small photo and "preview" on page 1 regarding the inside story. And, there were two color photos! Probably a bit of a difference between the printed edition and the on-line edition. No BigXII photo in the printed edition I received at home this morning. Sure it was the "top" story, but UNT's first and largest photo was "top of the fold" on page 3, with the story and a second photo just below the fold on p. 3. Above the Conference USA and SMU line as well. I, too, would like to see the DMN give a tad more "respect' to the Mean green, and am often unhappy with the scant coverage UNT gets, but I am not too sure that UNT fans should go too overboard with their rage regarding today's coverage. Anyway, great day for the Mean Green Nation. GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

Laufenberg is one of the classiest guys in the wide world of sports. You're way off base here. And the sports department at CBS is run by a very hard core North Texas alum/fan. Can't speak to the content of tonight's show... But I know that the man in charge of that department hustled to get press credentials for a CBS representative at this event.1 point

Thing is, if you have to have a game scheduled for that weekend, none could be better. Scheduling one of our fellow Sun Belt conference schmucks--er, I mean, mates--not many will stick around or make the trip for it. But a big-time opponent in the last game at Fouts--I will be surprised if we don't have at least 25,000 and will not be shocked if there are more than 28,000. A game like this can overcome a non-ideal scheduling date.1 point

If both teams are 100% healthy I take the 2010 team heads up. DJ there to run the point and the 4 bigs (not including Knox) that we could throw at Q and KDub would give 2010 an advantage. And I'm surprised anyone could favor 2007 given how this current team gets to the line and converts.-1 points

I can't believe non of the highlight clips don't include that huge block by G.O. towards the end that went out of bounds off of Troy? To me that was the play of the game? Rick-1 points
