I know RV said on the pod cast that the spring practice would start just before spring break and then go on after it. I am not even sure when UNT's Spring Break is scheduled this year. Plus any news on the Spring Game? Lets have us a GMG.COM Tailgate, I understand the Player parents will be Tailgating. I can bring my Cheesy Sausage balls or my Sausage Stuffing Balls. Humm Balls!!! Also as the Spring Game approaches doesn't the GMG.com Bowl also need to be scheduled? So many questions so little time.2 points

I'd bet SE-66 votes in the republican primary, unless he lives in Dallas county. Even if your an ultra-liberal, voting in the democratic primary, at least in Tarrant County, means a selection of about 7 candidates. Many of the local elections are decided in the republican primary with no democrat opponent. As far as the big race, same old, same old. Perry and Hutchinson in the run-off, thanks to Medina's Palin moment. Neither a good choice. And the democrat candidate really doesnt matter.2 points

I bet Rice is a good turnout. Schedule more like this...or better yet...join the conference. hijack2 points

I still can not believe that the Sunbelt has decided to do this three way tie breaker. So, I did my own investigative reporting to see exactly what the rules were and how they deduced comparing the western division champion with the runner up for the regular season title. Why have two divisions? All of these questions have been exhausted on this board. Questions like, we didn't even play the same number of games against each other and the other teams had home court advantage. So, here is the actual text from the Sunbelt official website. Sunbelt Post Season Format and Tie Breaking Procedure The seeding for top two seeds has its own tiebreaking for #1 and #2. A tiebreaker that only involves the division winners AND a coin toss if their records are identical and head/head matchup is identical. The "Top Three Seeds -Determination" clause specifically points out that the #3 spot is "next best ... regardless of division", which implies the division champions must be determined before determining number 3 seed. The Tie-Breaking Formula comes into play for all of the seeds below these two seeds. Specifically, point © of the Tie-Breaking Formula section states that "if each team has the same record against the highest-seeded team in the division" ... Not the other division. THE top seed has to be established before you ever get to the infamous "three way tie" clause which is point (e) of the Tie-Breaking Formula. But here is the real kicker. There is a statement that clearly states when the "Tie-Breaking Formula" is invoked. The last sentence of the "Seeding" clause: In the event of a tie for any seeded position within a division, the seed shall be determined by utilizing the conference’s tie-breaking formula. It is only to be invoked for seeded positions WITHIN a division. So, the conference skipped and ignored its own rules to find a rule that that is embedded far into the tie breaking formula that shouldn't even be invoked. The rules clearly state to determine division winners and to determine head to head of those two to determine #1 and #2 seeds. After reading and analyzing these rules, I just don't see how they came up with the seeds using this three way tiebreaker bull. I thought maybe the rules were ambiguous, but it is very clearly defined. Why does this matter so much to me? This is a guaranteed post season berth to the NIT. And that means everything. That is visibility. That is more money. And above all else, our players deserve it. This was determined before the season. The conference chose to go another direction which tells me one of two things. 1. They were too frantic in making a decision because they didn't think it would actually happen, and resulted in not analyzing the rules properly because they rushed it after the last games played out. 2. They are incompetent. Either way, I think it all boils down to number 2 (pun intended), even if number 1 is the root cause. If we win out and go to the NCAA, then in my opinion the conference dodged a bullet. If not, I will be highly disappointed if UNT does not come out publicly with their lawyers and go after the conference. Quit pus-footing around these issues and be behind closed doors. Let us know you think it is bull and you are going to do something about it. Don't give me this crap that Rick V. is probably on top of this and trying to be "political" or some crap. This is not the time for this. The players and Coach Jones deserve it. Your alumni and donors want it.1 point

The ticket office told me the flyer to renew season ticket will be out by the end of February. Anyone received theirs yet? Or do I have bad information?1 point

I sure wish KBH stood a chance against Perry. I would much rather have her in there. I will be voting for Bill White which in this state means I might as well write in Snow White. No Democrat stands a chance. I will say as a Houstonian (ok fine South Side Place) I think Bill White did an incredible job and would make a terriffic Governor.1 point

I mean, not to sound overly optimistic, but outside of Clemson and K-State, the rest of these games should be deemed "winnable". We've also never had a better chance to beat a Big 12 conference member (not named Baylor) better than this coming season. We get them at the end of the year (maybe) in a "home" game... that could be a great benefit.1 point

George just got hosed. No way Yates should be first team...and he may be one of my all time favorite SBC players, but Nate Rohnert really struggled down the stretch. Can't figure out a tie-break...can't figure out all conference selections...1 point

What an exciting hire, looks like next season will be better all the time. Greg Peterson I really liked this part: In all, 18 of the players he has coached and 17 of the players he has recruited went on to be drafted or signed to free-agent contracts by NFL teams. His primary recruiting areas are Colorado Springs and the cities of Arlington, Dallas and Fort Worth in Texas.1 point

Im so glad to see the hard work and effort of our coaching staff pay off for a fourth straight year. Great Scouting, recruiting, and practices have turned our North Texas bball team into a winner each year. Great job guys on making us proud and running a clean program that is so very entertaining to watch. GO MEAN GREEN1 point

--The tie breaking rules were agreed to BEFORE the season and everyone played by them... I have no problem with the outcome and being considered second. I also agree that this bracket location gives us a decent or best chance to be in the NCAA.1 point

In reading the quote you highlighted in the article, it seems that the Democrats did try to change things in the Patriot Act that they do not like. I don't think it has anything to do with all of a suddent changing their minds once they are in power, and everything to do with the fact that a party with only 41 Senators can stop our government from doing anything.1 point

We learned in the alumni association that there comes a time to write off those alums of the past and those of departments that tend to never care or support any part of UNT. These are what I term "parasites" who suck what they can get for their own personal gain and never think twice of recognizing the education that got them to where they are today. You start with the freshmen and the applicants from J.C. and H.S. Make them feel that it is cool to bleed Mean Green and that apathy and lack of spirt toward what will be their alma mater one day is for losers. We have a great new marketing person in Cooper Jones whom I just met last week. He saw the University of Louisville go from playing in a dilapidated old minor league baseball park to PAPA John's Stadium. He has been where we have been so has Coach Canales. Let them know that it doesn't pay to not cross the county line. Denton may not appreciate what it has in North Texas, but other more progressive areas see the explosion that can take place in a location and a program like UNT is now posed to offer. Let Cooper know your ideas as he is eager to get rolloing and will be receptive. In our time of sadness over the departure of Dr. Bataille, we can marshall new strength to see the vision that she and Dr. Pohl had for this university does not back slide to a facuily run "little music school and teacher's college" due to some of the politically motivated animals that have supposedly now seized power @ UNT. We have coaches in place, a great A.D., and our time is now. Prees forward as alums and fans despite the city of Denton and the weakness of our Chancellor. Location will always be our ally even if we have to drag Denton along kicking and screaming. WE CAN BE THE METROPLEX PRIVATES WORST NIGHTMARE--a public university in a great location with great facilities--these are things that keep the chancellors, presidents, and A.D.s @ SMU and TCU having nightmares!!!1 point

Nate leaving before graduation makes me sad. I wish him well. I want every young man who commits to UNT to be successful on and off the field, as I am sure do you all.0 points

I'd add MUTS and Troy to the "not winnable" list. They were just too far ahead of us last season to reasonably think we've made up that ground in this short period of time. So that's at least 4 losses that I see. On the other hand, I think this team with experience and the coaching upgrades will be able to turn those 4-7 point losses from last season into 4-7 point wins. Sooooooooo...I don't see 7 wins as impossible at all.0 points

I am not sure why you care, last I checked you were spouting some crazy liberal agenda, not like you would vote for any of above republicans anyway. Low taxes is not the same as low revenues, low taxes attract business and growth. Plus high taxes do not guarantee more money for parks and schools. New York has some of the highest taxes in the land, and they are deep in debt. They haven't had money to fund their parks department for years, they used to have great parks in the state. Their Appalachian trail used to be incredible to hike. But the last ten plus years the parks have lost all funding in favor of extreme social programs that bleed them dry. So these once wonderful trails are now over grown and the foot bridges, steps, and other improvements these trails once had are falling apart. Maybe you would be better off living in New York, maybe California where you can feel better and pay much higher taxes.0 points

Keith, with respect... The very first link you provided about how they 'use the same rules everywhere' is actually not only wrong, it's the exact OPPOSITE of right. And again, with respect... I don't think you understand "why all the crying", as evidenced by this post you made that gets the NIT bid completely wrong, too. The reason this is so upsetting is that this stupid interpretation of the tiebreaker cost us a guaranteed postseason bid. That may not be a big deal for any of those conferences you mentioned... But we've only had three postseason bids in our entire history. Losing the guarantee could cost us something that's only come around an average of once every 25 years or so. Plus, it costs us money and program prestige. Not playing in the postseason costs us what would otherwise be a recruiting advantage. I've already repeated all the reasons that this interpretation of the tiebreakers is absurd, and even I'm getting sick of talking about it. But the fact remains, we got screwed. It cost us something significant and valuable; something worth getting upset over.0 points

That would certainly be a better choice than Gov. good hair. I find KBH (aka the Breck girl..thank you Molly Ivins for that nickname) to be a better choice than just about any of them. This puts me in mind of one of the student body president elections one year when I was attending North Texas. One of the candidates listed his name as "King Bizzaro"........I voted for him.-1 points

---No one wants new or more taxes but the last administrations policies of fewer taxes and more spending** sure did not work well. It increased the debt and the economy was left in a mess. I am sure the super wealthy saved on taxes and had less financial controls but most lost more than they made with the 5000 Bush DOW drop before he left office. In the long run...did they come out ahead...?? I doubt it. ** and still claimed to be conservative..!!!!-1 points

Surely its happened before, maybe not for the No. 1 seed but maybe for another seed. Whining about it does nothing but make us a look like a group of sad babies to visitors of the board. These "terrible" rules are used in all the major conferences I could find the tiebreaker rules on so really? Why all the crying? Be happy with the 2 seed and get over it http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=10410&ATCLID=1520897 http://www.bigeast.org/fls/19400/pdfs/mensbball/tiebreaker07.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=19400&KEY=&SPID=11228&SPSID=94715 http://www.theacc.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/022607aaa.html http://www.secsports.com/news/default.aspx?ArticleId=141-1 points

I am not convinced that Medina won't sneak in against Perry. (she has a lot of rabid supporters that thinks she will cut taxes** despite the fact we are already now 49th in state taxes now, Mississippi is lower per capita) 10 years is enough of Perry in my opinion, but I expect him survive. He will easily defeat Medina in a run-off but KBH would give him a rougher time... if she can even made the run-off. Bill White wins an easy victory on the other side.. against a long list of no-name candidates and Shami. . (my opinions) **can't imagine how since we are about leanest running state anyway. [close state parks, not fix highways, close or barely fund colleges not in UT/A&M system ( they don't share in university land fund) ] ??? Do they really understand the situation?-1 points
