Every American in general should get a gold medal for complaining. It's the American way !2 points

We'll play the 7-10 winner. They list the game time at 8:45...but if the first game starts at 6:30...it's likely to be closer to 9: http://www.sunbeltsports.org//pdf8/674504.pdf2 points

I bet MTSU hangs up a 2009-10 BB Conference Co Champions banner next to that 2001 FB Conference Co Champions banner2 points

To celebrate Texas Independence Day.....Rudy's is offering a quarter pound of brisket for 32 cents.....Tuesday from 2-4. (at any Rudy's location). And the 32 cents goes to the Haiti relief fund. (From the Sunday D-RC page 2D).1 point

I spend most of my time on gmg.com searching my old posts to give them +1 until I meet my quota. Please don't screw this up for me, I really want to be a general one day.1 point

Don't forget, they also had to scrape through prelims by winning an OT game against the swiss. They are very lucky and it's a bit sad. Hockey is all they got, and they barely got that. Oh well? Still a great tourney by the U.S., the youngest team this year never trailed till the gold medal round. That's pretty amazing. Rick1 point

I tried but after reading endless posts about how we got screwed this was the best I could come up with.1 point

Oops I thought complaining about not getting first based on rules used year after year and that are pretty common was the "in" thing to do around the forum these days. My mistake!1 point

If this were the Sun Belt Conference, the USA would win the gold medal because of the following scenerio: Both teams played each other twice and are tied 1-1 in head-to-head. Team USA won the first game 5-3 in regulation. Canada won the second game 3-2 in OT. The USA therefore holds a 7-6 combined goal advantage over the Canadians, plus Canada has 2 losses in the tournament (comparable to conference play), while the USA has only one. All this clearly shows that the USA won the gold.... if this were the Sun Belt Conference. Somehow, somewhere, FIU is responsible for that overtime goal.1 point

Yeah and if anyone on Canada was to get that goal I am glad it was Crosby.1 point

I doubt fatigue is a factor yet, I am sure adrenaline is high, but if overtime gets drawn out then the younger legs may help.1 point

Anyone want to pick the hero? I'll go with Drury for the game winning goal.1 point

I think it benefits the US. We dominated the puck the final 10 minutes of that period. Now it's 4-on-4 hockey and like the Mean Green defense, it's wide open!1 point

Great game!! The Canadian hockey fans (which is basically the entire Canadian population) are pulling their collective hair out right now. Does having the younger legs benefit the USA in overtime? Or is the Canadians' experience the deciding factor? Stay tuned, Olympic fans!!1 point

I'm not planning anything until an official bracket is released by the conference. I still believe that you can't have any more than 2 teams in consideration for the 1 seed: The East champ and the West champ. I can't believe there's nobody in the SBC staff that doesn't recognize that. Hopefully, now that it's not a distant hypothetical situation, the SBC will re-evaluate the preliminary interpretation of tiebreakers that was discussed with Vito. I expect we'll get screwed, but until the bracket is released, I'm not taking anything as final other than Troy wins the East, we win the West, and the rest of the seeds are whatever they are (haven't bothered to even look... Just came home from a very long two days and a very long drive).1 point

If I'm not mistaken....we played MTSU in the semis...which could also happen again. As could, Arkansas State in the final.1 point

Another thing I ought to mention is the other main consideration: Where to stay. I know SUMG stayed at the hotel that connects to the Arena last year, and he had a lot of good things to say about it. Unfortunately, it was booked out by WKU(?) and it isn't an option. If you just want a decent cheap place to sleep at night, the best place we could find last year was the Knights Inn. It's decent, breakfast and internet included, and it's just a very short drive away from downtown or the Arena. Last year, some WKU fans clued me in that for groups of more than 2, renting a house/condo/corporate apartment is a cheaper and more comfortable way to go than a hotel. We have a group of 6 staying in a house literally 2 blocks away from the downtown attractions and national park, and just 15 minutes by foot from the Arena. With taxes and cleaning fees and deposit included, it's costing us a little less than $95 each to stay Saturday-Tuesday nights and leave Wednesday morning. Generally, it's a better financial idea for bigger groups... But depending on how nice a hotel you're thinking of staying in, it could still work for an individual or pair. Here's one of the places we thought about renting if we'd had a smaller group... $95 per night (plus 12.5% tax) with two double or queen beds in different rooms. If you're an outdoorsy type, there are other options that are also competitively priced with hotels out near the lake. Here's a place that's also $95 per night, and it's right on Lake Hamilton. There are actually a good amount of places that run cheaper per night than a decent hotel, but all of them are already booked. Some are still available, like this condo place that offers a $65 per night 1br/1bath with no kitchen. Just Google search for Hot Springs rentals and you'll find at least 3 or 4 sites with a lot of options.1 point

Why shouldn't the MUTS get to hang a banner, they are co-champions just as NT is? Of course, they are division co-champions as well as conference co-champions. NT is division champions and conference co-champions. I have never understood the harangue over the 2001 football championship, MTSU were definitely conference co-champions. They lost the tiebreaker to NT for the bowl game, just as apparently NT and the MUTS have lost the tiebreaker for tournament seeding to Troy.0 points
