We learned in the alumni association that there comes a time to write off those alums of the past and those of departments that tend to never care or support any part of UNT. These are what I term "parasites" who suck what they can get for their own personal gain and never think twice of recognizing the education that got them to where they are today. You start with the freshmen and the applicants from J.C. and H.S. Make them feel that it is cool to bleed Mean Green and that apathy and lack of spirt toward what will be their alma mater one day is for losers. We have a great new marketing person in Cooper Jones whom I just met last week. He saw the University of Louisville go from playing in a dilapidated old minor league baseball park to PAPA John's Stadium. He has been where we have been so has Coach Canales. Let them know that it doesn't pay to not cross the county line. Denton may not appreciate what it has in North Texas, but other more progressive areas see the explosion that can take place in a location and a program like UNT is now posed to offer. Let Cooper know your ideas as he is eager to get rolloing and will be receptive. In our time of sadness over the departure of Dr. Bataille, we can marshall new strength to see the vision that she and Dr. Pohl had for this university does not back slide to a facuily run "little music school and teacher's college" due to some of the politically motivated animals that have supposedly now seized power @ UNT. We have coaches in place, a great A.D., and our time is now. Prees forward as alums and fans despite the city of Denton and the weakness of our Chancellor. Location will always be our ally even if we have to drag Denton along kicking and screaming. WE CAN BE THE METROPLEX PRIVATES WORST NIGHTMARE--a public university in a great location with great facilities--these are things that keep the chancellors, presidents, and A.D.s @ SMU and TCU having nightmares!!!

Had to share this. So I was with the kids at the local precinct here in Weatherford today and had just finished voting and walking back to my truck. And just as I opened my door to get in I hear a car pull directly in behind my truck and a stern voice say's, "Excuse me sir!!!"... When I turned around I see that it is a Texas D.P.S. cruiser and the trooper inside is wanting my attention. So I'm instantly thinking..."Oh crap!!!, what have I done, the inspection and registration tags are in, I don't have a tail light out etc etc??". And I respond and say "Yes sir, what can I do for you?". And the trooper say's: "I just wanted to let you know I love your license plate and to say Go Mean Green!". In relief I started laughing and yelled back Go Mean Green and asked if he's kept up with NT lately and he said yes, in fact he was at the game last night, and how about our basketball team etc etc etc. So the good news is spreading. It's All Green And All Good! Rick

My head just exploded after reading this. untjim, thanks for giving us the inside information. Deep down, I knew RV was going to let his little experiment play out, at NT's expense. Why else would RV give an undeserved high school coach an almost guaranteed 5 year deal??? When Dodge completes his sleeper hold & then head first pile driver of NT Football, RV should get hit with the chair and then thrown over the turn buckle into unemployment.

Yeah, not a direct quote. I was referring to Vito's line about RV saying he would evaluate the program come years end. Quoting out of context is certainly powerful!!! We all know RV's real evaluation won't come for a couple of years. After all, he gave Dodge a 5 year contract.

, it' I agree, with every loss the rope holding the guillotine is getting thinner & thinner for this board. Yes, it is well known that money drives college football. Noone disputes that. Attacking a fan for the amount they give is the issue I had. 10 people give a $1k or 1 person gives $10k, it's all the same. I'm just glad they're donating. With that said, as a supporter/donator, you have the right to bitch/moan if you're not happy with the state of the program. I commend you for "increasing your support" in down times. But, as you stated, money is the deciding factor, so what do most Boosters do when programs perform as crappy as THIS program has done teh last 3 years - They pull their money. What do AD's do when this happens? They fire people. What happens when programs win?? Booster donations go up. If you know all this, why are you so surprised by these type of comments? Is it because at NT we don't have a pro athletics culture? i hate to break it to you, but thsi is how it works at most collegiate athletic programs. Noone is knocking you for supporting the program. Don't just follow blindly & SPEAK UP if you're disgusted at the current state of affairs. One man decides who coaches what sports. He can make mistakes, he's only human. Then again, you could be happy at the direction NT is heading.

So who's to blame for the talent deficiency after 3 years???? Troy went from Sunbelt bottom feeder to formidable mid-major in a few years, did you forget that??? So you're so much better than everyone because you give $10k a year right? Real fans sacrifice to give, knowing we'd all give a cool million if we had it. Your "elitist" attitude & attack of this fan makes you the real a$$ clown, IMO. What happened in Troy this past weekend has been happening the last 5 seasons for NT vs the top of the Belt. So again, I ask yo, who's responsible for the talent deficiency??????? I've held my donation from athletics the last 2 years because of Todd Dodge. My money went to my respective college of study and you can book it will be going there again if Teflon Todd isn't fired at the end of this year.
