Not really, just whipped by you and those like you that keep bringing crap like this up ad nauseum. This administration is no worse than the last one. Give it up dude. This whole conversation is becoming a thrashing of the highest order. Your side will never agree with my side. Deal with that and move on please.5 points

Did anyone else send the report on the men's b'ball team Wednesday night on Fox 4 (KDFW)? They interviewed JJ and Odufwa(sp.) and talked about going for 20 wins again. After the piece, Mike Doocy said, "North Texas hot, TCU & SMU not!" Good PR anyway.2 points

Why is it bad to hold in a fart? Because it will make it's way up to your head and give you crappy ideas.2 points

Disagree. Texas is a school that could fill their stadium WITHOUT the opposing team. Also, teams like Michigan, Ohio state, Penn state etc will draw interest anywhere they play. There is no risk of opponents being "irrelevant" to fans or media. Just the same, I don't see the rest of the Big XII (or the TX legislature) letting this pass.2 points

By extending a contract, the school is obligating future dollars to the coach. If another school comes calling, they will have to pay the school for the sum left on the contract, or some percentage of it. By extending the contract it: 1)Shows JJ what his future worth is presumed to be by UNT. 2)Obligates the school to pay that sum should the school end the contract 3)Makes the buyout sum that other schools have to pay to get him higher, which then can be used to find another theoretically equal caliber coach.1 point

When I saw this on the "Forums" page, under "Last Post Info", this was listed as "Let's Just Talk", To which I thought, "hey, cool", just kind of a conversation on the Eagles Nest forum, no political agenda maybe. Not. But I still think that would be a cool idea, sort of a virtual Jim's Diner.1 point

Isn't that the way diplomacy tends to work? You first make an effort at peaciful agreement, follow that up with assertive action, and then if the situation continues to escalate you resort to the use of force as a last resort? We can't afford (so many different usages of that word intended) to continue to skip those first 2 steps.1 point

Kornheiser: "I can't even name any of the schools they play." Everyone, email Tony Kornhieser and let him know we mean business. or don't ever do that.1 point

That's what was said during the basketball game yesterday. I'm guessing that maybe UNT will be used as a practice facility for one of the teams during next year's game. If not , what else could it be ?1 point
-
1st it was smu keeping us out of CUSA , now TCU out of the practice sites. Why are we the most hated university in the metroplex ???1 point

Couldn't of gone to a better man. After he retires I'm sure he will several opportunities to do whatever he wants , but I would hope that the Administration here could create some kind of position for him to work with both the school and community.1 point

Are the coaches not putting the full court press back on Hall ? I mean I would think it's easier to convince someone who has been committed to you for several months and is second guessing himself than someone who you had little or no contact with who already gave a verbal to someone else1 point

So would you call leaving a OC postion at a DI college to a high school that doesn't even have football yet a upgrade ? The Sky has fell and it can't fall much further Looks like SHSU gave the job to Bob DeBesse1 point

Maybe Junior Miller could answer that question I bet he will be a head coach again next year. I believe he's still getting a nice paycheck from Louisville , no need to rush to find a job.1 point

I hate to be the one that breaks this news to you, but America already is. And it isn't the gay community that encourages it. America is in it's current financial pickle because fewer and fewer people can make good financial decisions. It obviously "felt good" to buy something, even though all common sense should have told them that there was no way in hell that they could afford the payments. This story is about people who love one another and are devoted to one another, but are considered less than second class citizens because of it.-1 points
-
Give in to what? "Those people" have been forming long term relationships long before either of us were born. Let them have the same legal relationship that all of us have. Every gay person in America can get married tomorrow and it will not change (morally) one thing that I do, that my wife does, or my son and daughter-in-law does on a daily basis.-1 points
-
If gay couples were allowed to marry, then that would certainly open up that legal issue again. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the polygamist marriage was between consenting adults. My view of Polygamy today (and probably originally) is that it's just an excuse for older men to gain sexual access to underage girls.-1 points

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/opin...ina15pitts.html Their only crime is that they are two people who are in love and are devoted to one another. And as always, I'm reminded of one of my favorite speeches from one of my favorite movies...Inherit the Wind. Henry Drummond (Spencer Tracy): Can't you understand? That if you take a law like evolution and you make it a crime to teach it in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools? And tomorrow you may make it a crime to read about it. And soon you may ban books and newspapers. And then you may turn Catholic against Protestant, and Protestant against Protestant, and try to foist your own religion upon the mind of man. If you can do one, you can do the other. Because fanaticism and ignorance is forever busy, and needs feeding. And soon, your Honor, with banners flying and with drums beating we'll be marching backward, BACKWARD, through the glorious ages of that Sixteenth Century when bigots burned the man who dared bring enlightenment and intelligence to the human mind!-1 points

He's had Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reily and Christopher Hitchens on his show more than once. I wouldn't call any of these three people spineless. Bill Maher is going to debate Ann Coulter at the Chicago Theatre on March 11th.-1 points

And, finally, New Rule: Stop pretending that other governments have nothing to teach us. From those socialists in Sweden, we can learn how to fix a banking crisis. And from our friends in China, we can learn how to punish the jerks who caused it. You know, the ones who took bailout money and bought private jets made out of rubies and veal. This is Dick Fuld of Lehman Brothers. [slide of Fuld] What a "dick" Fuld. He personally made $500 million in sub-prime mortgages, and he gets to keep it while you and I pay off his bad bets. [slide of Madoff] This is Bernie Madoff. Bernie stole $50 billion, mostly from other Jews. For Jews, this was the worst pyramid scheme since the actual pyramids. Which brings me back to China. Now, a couple months ago, some greedy businessmen in China were caught spiking the milk they sold to children with melamine, a plastic-derivative which boosted the protein levels and, thus, their profits. Well, you know what the Chinese are doing to the businessmen behind their milk scandal? They're putting them to death. Talk about lactose intolerant. Now, am I saying we should treat the bankers who poisoned our financial markets with tainted investments the way China treated its poisoners? Please, we're not China. We're just owned by China. So, no, I don't think we should put all the bankers to death. Just two. I mean, maybe it's not technically legal, but, let's look at the upside. If we killed two random, rich, greedy pigs. I mean, killed. Like, blew them up at halftime at next year's Super Bowl. Or left them hanging on the big board at the New York Stock Exchange. You know, as a warning, with their balls in their mouth. I think it would really make everyone else sit up and take notice. This crisis is rooted in greed. And if two deaths shocked a society of 300 million into acting decently enough to avoid this in the future, well, they'd die as heroes. And, you know, it's not like collateral damage isn't built into our assessment of things. Cars kill almost 50,000 people a year, but we accept that as a fair price for being able to get around without riding on top of an animal. So, two dead bankers really starts to look like a bargain. And isn't that what they love? Bargains?-1 points

Still coming to the rescue of those who can't stand up for themselves? You go Silver. I guess I didn't realize that Emmitt needed your help. But, it's nice to know you are there for him. Man crush I guess.-1 points

Does one have to be gay to have a man crush? Didn't know that was a requirement. Silly me...no, I am sure Silver isn't gay and would never call him that...he's just old and needs help getting back to the home from time to time!-1 points

To GrandGreen and CMJ, I'm glad I could run interference earlier in this thread for both of you. That's what I'm here for. Now tomorrow, when everyone's replenished their negative votes, I can't guarantee anything but I'll do my best. Rick-1 points

Ohio is a great school for sports administration degrees. Still, I hope he is already stalking up on brown shirts to make this is a smooth transition for our fan base.-1 points

Wondering if anyone with a degree from UNT is qualified to do this job? One wonders why UNT had to hire an Ohio grad. Is no member of the Mean Green Nation qulaified or do none ever apply for these positons? Just asking. I welcome our new Mean Green nation member and will do all I can to help any way I can to see him be a success.-1 points

Pot calling kettle black. If you don't care for the political discussions...just don't reply. No need to add smart non-topical comments in threads you don't like. Just pass them by..no one needs smart remarks that add nothing to the conversation. It isn't hard...just don't reply...and keep from being "whipped" if you are that easy to whip. If the talk lands a little close to home, ignore it. Seems simple enough to me unless your point is to simply make some smart comment...if so...no problem, we'll understand full well where they come from. It's an open forum after all. "Your side" is always welcome to point out where you think "my side" might be so wrong. Reading the subtitle to this "non-athletic" thread might help you understand what gets posted here....something about not for the faint or weak...something like that. Besides, MLB kicks off soon enough...so relax.-1 points
