Just to make sure I (and eulesseagle, who posed the question) understand as clearly as possible: What you're saying is, someone who makes a habit of posting inflammatory thread titles, links to stories from politically aligned media outlets, and accompanying 1 or 2 sentence comments that "regurgitat(e) talking points" or simply take shots at other board members and/or broad political parties/thoughts under the guise of rhetorical questions... Someone like that would be violating the spirit of the board rules? Particularly if it was the vast majority of their activity on this board?4 points

Many assistant contracts are just year to year, so there probably is no problem in getting him here. Also, as was pointed out during the Lincoln Riley vigil, $90,000 a year is more than $0 a year. The thing I like about Canales is that he's been part of building a program (USF), coaching QBs to the NFL (Philip Rivers), and understands JUCO-level talent (Snow JC) so that he can probably separate the men from the boys in recruiting those types. If we get this guy, I don't think there's any way possible for us to have a losing season in 2010. He brings so much to the table; and, it comes from experience is at a higher levels than the Sun Belt...or high school. This is the type of hire we've been waiting/clamoring for.4 points

I am saying that if you post a political topic you should have a personal opinion that accompanies it. What I don't want is posters that are regurgitating talking points supporting one side or another. I want you to have an opinion regarding something. If it is well thought out and communicated in a respectable way then you will have no problems with the moderators on this board. GMG!3 points

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/news/story?id=4856300 $24 million goes to the Non-AQ conferences...with $17.6 of that going to MWC and WAC. Anyway that leaves $6.4 million to the CUSA, MAC and The Sun Belt.2 points

Agreed. At a true 6-5 or 6-6 and 260-270, Johnson has the frame and talent to grow into an elite offensive lineman. This where it's good that we have Charr and Lefty. Now, if we can nail down Canales!2 points

This is a great get. Scouts, Inc. rated 77. That means they believed he could start three years at a BCS school. This and the Orr commitment are excellent!2 points

Not to hijack here but I just gave forevereagle a reputation point for his post. You can do this by clicking the plus sign at the lower right corner. Just want to try and educate on the new board features as we go along. Carry on and GMG!2 points

I'm a generally negative person. Can I be allowed 10 negatives and 5 positives instead? Also, FYI, I'm having a little trouble sending PM's.2 points

I just gave you a reputation point Tasty Greek. Right now, every member has the ability to give 10 positive rep points and 5 negative points per day. If we need to change that over time we can but that seems like a good starting point to me.2 points

You got it...and why not? UNT is my Alma mater, and I am proud of it. Plus, I happen to think people should support their Alma maters regardless of the won-loss record of its football team. I know that's hard for some to "get", but so be it! So....BUY SEASON TICKETS! ACTUALLY GO TO THE GAMES! JOIN THE MEAN GREEN CLUB! JOIN THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION! And, get involved and get re-connected (if you have been away) with YOUR University. You might just be surprised how it changes your opinion of what the priorities in life might just be.2 points

We'll be making our first ever layoffs this Friday. Sad. Hard to do. But, nothing's changed since last year. The tight credit is killing businesses, and we're a company that deals 80% in businesses and only 20% to individuals. I really wish the government would stop hassling banks. It's doing nothing but hurting businesses. I don't understand the disconnect between politicians and basic economics. It's maddening.1 point

The Supreme Court can't even define pornography, but you expect us to give you firm guidelines for a message board on the internets? I think we stand by the Supreme Courts words, "you know if when you see it" in regard to what will get you banned.1 point

Well, both of those worked. I tried opening IE 6.0 to post the same links, but this it won't even let me enter text in the reply field in IE 6.0. Perhaps it is how IE posts links, not how Firefox reads them. Why do I have IE 6? It is my work machine, I leave what they install. Apparently our internal software doesn't like new IE versions (or Firefox).1 point

A large part of my problem with his moronic post was its context. It was put in a thread that was about Javia Hall, not Riley Dodge. It was in response to a post that was taking the high road with regard to Hall, and he had to take the low road with regard to Riley. There is nothing in the post intended as constructive criticism, only potshots to knock our (North Texas') quarterback down. I know such posts make some of you guys feel bigger and better about yourselves, but they do nothing to support our players.1 point

I hope you're right about him bringing wins here. The question then becomes, who gets the credit? Canales or Dodge? If this guy is the "x-factor" then why keep the guy who can't win but for the assistant who props him up?1 point

Canales doesn't appear to be a guy who would take a job where he wouldn't have full control of the offense.1 point

Bump. Waters was the best Tight End to play for North Texas who became a Pro Bowl Lineman in the NFL. In all seriousness, I cannot remember if he played TE his entire career here, or just his last year in 95. Anyone else remember?1 point

So is this a system where we +/- posts and threads only, or will we have a reputation system like the one on the Sun Belt forum?1 point

How abt being happy we didn't lose him to La Monroe? Or maybe UTEP who also offered (I hear they've been known to take a recruit from us)? Point is, why disparage kids who want to come here BEFORE they've signed? Would we all like to have a 5* DT? Sure, so would 85% of schools in America.1 point

It's not like this just overturned McCain-Feingold. This ruling strikes me as far more activist in nature than many other rulings in recent history that have been accused of being activist. There was a tremendous amount of precedent and long-standing statute that was thrown out the window by this majority decision. For some states, this struck down a century's worth of legislation on curbing campaign contributons.1 point

We, as the mean green nation, need to realize the sky has fallen to dangerously low levels, and we must work smart and hard to raise it back to its previous levels and even higher. We have smart people in environmental science and business who could work together, if they will, to do the scientific analysis to achieve the best sky raising method, along with the business acumen to raise the sufficient funds to complete this important project.1 point

You know. Your reponse(s) reminds me of a critique given to a friend of mine who (as a young poet) submitted his poetry to an English professor at UTA for "feedback". One of the critiques of one of his poems was "says very little in great detail".......1 point
