Like all successful politicians, he's a centrist.

I have always believed that Obama wasn't (and isn't) against gay marriage, even though he stated the opposite to keep the bat-$h_t-crazy religious right from mounting much of an offense against him. I think he is going to engage that crazy faction more and more and (metaphorically speaking), slowly and regularly, slip a little lithium into their drinks.

I think that the gay community will eventually get their right to marry, Obama just needs to distract the crazy religious right long enough. And that will take a little time.

Gay marriage is such an abomination, it is not funny what the media has done to people. I love how the the crazy dark side of the gay community gets whitewashed, the super high percentage rate that sexual deceases are spread of at, the core violence that occur in homosexual relationships at rates of over 10,000-20,000% higher then heterosexual relationships. Also the random sex meetings for anonymous sex, glory holes, cursing. Yeah lovely stuff, and it is very mainstream in the gay community, at rates of up to 60-70% regularly partake in such crap. And some 90+% have experience some or more of these anonymous sex practices.

And better yet last time I researched this stuff off a bet the stats all came from gay publications and there own surveys.

If you ever want to see first hand spend some time running or riding at Whiterock lake, lovely when guys flash you in the bathroom as a pickup, or you ride by and see near the bushes guys doing each other in the middle of the day while children ride bikes and play nearby.

Now this community want special rights and marriage to boot, just disgusting.

Only if you don't tell.

Honestly I don't care what people do behind closed doors, but pushing gay rights and marriage down everyones throat is way over the top.

You know, because straight folks don't have their own share of sexual deviants, right?

Oh, and more on-topic:

Obama and McCain were pretty centrist. It actually made them hard to distinguish, especially as it pertained to environmental and national defense issues. Their standpoints on economics were different (basically a matter of what economic model you believe holds true). But many of their other issues were pretty close to each other.

The real difference between them came in their running mates. Biden was more left and Palin was more right, and that's typically what VP candidates are. What probably killed McCain's campaign was bringing Palin along. I figure she probably scared off moderate Republicans with her over-religious talk since that's what pushed me off.

The percentages are not even close, actually they are night and day apart, in the the area of less then 3-4% verses 80-90% depending on the particular category. But hey assumptions are great to make.

I have a hard time believing those numbers about violence in homosexual relationships. Having grown up in California and Canada, I've had a good number of gay friends. Unless they're different on the west coast, I don't buy it - seems like a church created statistic.

I want to know where you get your numbers from. And beyond that, when did heterosexuals have the monopoly on the moral high ground? All this "we're straight and therefore more righteous than you" business is a pile of crap. I'll entertain the idea of the sanctity of marriage when I see a lowered divorce rate, lowered domestic abuse rates, and fewer cases of marital infidelity. We're also subject to our own share of immoralities on the straight side of the fence. I can't say straight folks are doing better when I see them make mistakes in who they marry, how they raise their children, act unfaithfully, and of course, engage in sexual deviations.

I'm almost certain that there's a lot more money in straight porn than there is in gay porn.

You know, "let him who is without sin cast the first stone" and such.

Overall a pretty terrible post---even though I agree whole-heartedly that gay marriage should not be allowed.

Visitation rights in hospitals and all the other "partner" priviledges granted to married couples should be allowed and I think that is already happening in most states.

But to site divorce rates as evidence that the institution of marriage is flawed is just not right (not in this post, but later in this thread by another poster). People mucking up their own situations is what creates those statistics. So arguing that we should just blow away or rewrite a basic structure of modern society solely on the grounds of people failing to live up to a certain moral standard is more than wrong---it's damaging to our entire society.

These stats came from various place but most came from gay publications and websites, please don't believe me, but at least do your own research before you make simple assumptions. I love how everybody argues from what sounds reasonable to them, I was shocked by how high the violence is.

The info should still be around unless it was disappeared for a stronger Gay marriage campaign. At the time most of my research came from the articles in mainstream newspapers.

Can we all just agree that gays are terrible, evil, and disgusting creatures? I think they should be forced to wear a very specific rainbow logo on all of their clothing. That way they can't trick us by acting all straight sometimes. They can be so deceptive.... ugh... I'm shivering just thinking about them.
