“I am truly sorry and would like to apologize to the University of North Texas, the athletics department and all of the Mean Green fans for the incident that I was involved in at halftime of Saturday’s game. I used very poor judgment and acted out of character. I understand the standards to which a person in my position must be held and I would like to apologize to anyone I have embarrassed by my actions. I allowed my emotions to overtake my judgment and I can assure everyone that it will not happen again.”

Official link should be all over the place tomorrow, we have a copy of the release here.

This looks like a sincere apology to the fans and supporters of this program. I appreciate the fact that the athletic department has released it. I'm sorry that this happened but this has been a frustrating season for all of us. For the good of the program we need to put this episode behind us and move forward. GMG!

I agree it's time to let it go but I think the program has reached the fan's "I'm not going to take it anymore" level. You're seeing something that 5-15 years ago the fans would have just accepted this level of mediocrity and said "oh well" maybe next year. We have come to expect more and want more. Don't give us false hope beating SBC lightweights and then crater in OOC games and say "sorry, that's all we got!". We want the Quan! tongue.gif

We all screw up from time to time. He apologized for the mistake, I say we move on.

It's not like he was arrested the night before a game for snorting coke in an topless bar. If we ever had a coach do that! well then .....uh wait...nevermind.

and this was an apology to who?

I think he's sincere in apologizing to everyone who saw his actions or heard about them. Remember, RV said RF had called him to tell him about the incident. RF knows he made a serious mistake and is trying to make up for it.

This is not about play calling, this is about bad behavior. He acted wrong and apologized in a very public way. As Silvereagle pointed out in a different thead, RF doesn't have his phone number and I doubt knew his name.

Anything else should be between Silvereagle and RF - a more personal apology as RF should be able to find out at least find Silvereagle's email address!.

I think the rest of us should move on.

Get a freaking clue people. RF charged an older fan and acted like a total ass-clown. We should expect and demand better. BTW, as an aside, his girlfriend acted about the same way on the deck 5 years ago. Remeber that Stebo?

I think you can find your answer to the question of whether RF will be gone at year's end in this quote from the release:

From RV

He has apologized to me for failing to represent this University and this department in the manner that we expect and he understands that future actions of this nature will be met with severe consequences.

Guys, people make mistakes! That's life! Let's accept the guy’s apology and move on. We are human we err. I don't see why it is so difficult to see this. Yes he was wrong; yes he was a total jerk, but a lot of as are at times. Why is it any different with RF? Just because he is somewhat of a public figure to the Mean Green Nation does not make him any less human.

What can I expect at the ULM game? I mean, if we're down at halftime and RF makes his way down the stands, what's gonna happen this time? I guess we could all, in unison, just say "shhhhhhhhhhhhh" to not ruffle any feathers.

I would like to hear SilverEagles comments on this.

It said in the DRC article that he said the apology was appropriate.

Some are saying move on? What would have happened to the fan if the roles were reversed? What if the fan charged RF? At the least he would have been removed from the game and probably arrested.

The apology is not good enough for me.

that is a great point ntmsu....hell FFR was almost arrested for throwing a tortilla but if you confront someone in a threatening manner, an apology will do. we got our priorities backwards. keep the pressure on. an "apology" will not suffice

Hmmm..I like this. RF shakes Silver's hand on the way up to the pressbox? Might be the opportune time to whisper "IF you really want to make it up to me, throw the ball on first down" in his ear.

Of course, then RF blows another gasket and the whole thing explodes again...

Never mind the play-calling hints. Shake the guy's hand Silver...but be ready to move right and counter with the left-uppercut!!!! (looked like he leads with his right)

GMG!!! biggrin.gif
