How little does Dodge really understand the problem? Gleaning from the quotes in the articles, he answers it himself:

"I can't imagine why any player that sees 20 starts in his first two years would want to leave a school," coach Dodge said.

No? Gee, I wonder why, too. Oh, nevermind...here's the answer:

He said that he plans to make no changes his offensive strategy....

Yeah. The strategy that led to little pass protection, few bona fide receivers on the field, and decisions to kick field goals late in games we trailed by several touchdowns.

Reading Dodge and Villareal is like watching a child continually try to reach up onto the store or try to stick their fingers into electical outlets. It's just sad.

This post is absolutely ridiculous. If you only knew why Vizza really left, and I'll give you a big hint...nothing in life is guaranteed, and someone felt a little threatened by the depth chart. It has nothing to do with offensive strategy, playcalling, etc. And the funny thing is, the team is much better off because of this exit.

The only member glad Giovanni is gone is Riley Dodge because he would have never seen the field as a QB for two more seasons.

Ask any team member and they already miss him in the weight room and in lockeroom. Gio can kick Riley's ass and Riley knows. Your talking apples and oranges with who the team was behind and who Coach Ford was behind. Get a life.

Hell one of our QB's made it public that he was not returning until he heard about Gio transferring.

Well the good thing for Reynolds Aluminum Foil is that this board is overly active, guess they will not need a bailout as long as this board keeps posting.

I'm too close to the program to identify myself to coach Dodge. But I have the one of the best student jobs with the program.

I know what I know. I live it every day at Bonnie Brae.

Such a good job that you're willing to lose it by spilling Team issues behind Dodge's back. What a real classy employee you must be.

You guys need to get on board with Riley Dodge. He loved UNT enough to pass on a chance to win a national championship at Texas to come here. Vizza loved UNT so much he walked away from our starting QB position to go play intramural football and chant with male cheerleaders down in College Station. Riley is OUR GUY. His dad was big enough to play big-time college football and Riley is too. He's not playing left tackle. Riley is probably the most-decorated recruit to ever sign with us. He is big time and he is ours. He should be the face of the franchise and we will worship him like we worshipped Johnny Quinn and Patrick Cobbs. Expect BIG THINGS from Riley.

I seriously doubt that Riley 'loved' UNT so much that he chose us over Texas. His dad is the coach here, plain and simple. Gio di what many of us would have done - left a bad situation while he still has 2 good years of eligibility left in his still very promising college career. I would also tap the breaks a tad on Riley's great ability. He is still undersized, and he will only be as good as the 5 guys blocking for him. he should have six, but his stubborn-ass dad refuses to have a TE in his offense.

Like many here my Kool-aid is in dry storage for the winter.

Here's something that might save your job:

If/when you get fired, we'd love to do an interview for the new TY Sports. Share the details of the termination, or whatever else is on your mind. Of course, if you're still working for the team, that would be inappropriate.

That should change the decision-making calculus a little bit. :)

no, do the interview somewhere important so more than 4 people will read it. just kidding, sort of.

I am starting to get the distinct feeling that people around here are hating on the most decorated and highly sought after recruit in UNT History only because they disagree with his father who happens to be the coach.

Honestly who gives a hell if he came here only because his father is the coach, I don't and I will never use that as a reason for not liking, supporting, or believing in the guy and thinking he can do a great job!

Yes he might be undersized as a D1 QB, maybe that has something to do with him coming here instead of texas, he knew he wouldnt be the lead dog there, but here he is, or at least he is going to earn that right this off season. Get off the guys back and support him as our guy wether or not he starts. When we got him, and we all had the Dodge is going to be the savior feelings in our bellies, he was the next best thing to sake bombs and we couldn't wait to get him on the field. Now that his dad has pissed off a bunch of people on the board, in the Meag Green Nation and made a lot of people lose hope in the program we are deciding to hold that agains Riley... Stop It! give the guy a chance and quit coming up with BS reasons why the guy can't be a success.

I suppor Rodge and still support Todge, even though I will reevaluate that support of Todge, and Todge only, after the first half of this upcoming season.

We've always been very honest with ourselves about how crappy the old site was and how limited our appeal was.

But when we unleash the new Blog-O-Tron 2000, well... You'll probably all just shrug your shoulders and go on with your lives.

But maybe, just maybe, we can actually expand our range. And if not, at least it won't be that terrible, terrible Blogger standard layout.

Really??? Severe doubt is in every corner of my mind. Lots of people associated with the athletic dept read this board everyday, including RV himself. If you were employeed there, you would know this and wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) post anything negative on this board.

If you did work there and had such a lack of integrity to blast your employers in a public forum like this, I wouldn't believe anything you had to say, anyway.

But, I think someone is simply looking for attention.

Agree that people shouldn't be bashing Riley because he his son of Dodge. I don't think there is anything wrong with an honest evaluation of his skills, especially as they are related to being a D1 QB. Remember, Texas recruited him as a WR, not QB, as did almost all other D1 schools.

Hey 2012, were you there right before any recent announcement that someone showed up hung over and barfed all over himself because he couldn't make it through practice? Yeah, that type of behaviour demands respect.

What was his bad situation? Having competition for his position? I was taught to compete and not quit on my teammates by my parents. If football is so important to Vizza, then why has it been reported by those close to him that he probably won't even play at A&M?

Stubborn-assed dad? Is he stubborn because he doesn't run the plays you think he should?

The fact he is not willing to adjust his offensive system makes him stubborn. Do we have a TE in the offense??? No. That will get Riley beat up. Do we have highly skilled WR's?? Not really. Fitz has graduated and the rest didn't impress me all that much by using the old eye-ball test. Do we have decent RB's??? Yes. Which means our stubborn coach should probably install some run packages under the center, especially in short-yardage situations.

Coaches that don't make adjustments are stubborn. You see it at every level and more often than not their teams get beat and they eventually lose their jobs. I do hope vey much that he sees the errors he has made on the offensive side of the ball over the past two seasons that has caused him to win 3 games out of 24.

I dont want him to kick a teammates ass, I want him to kick the other teams ass.
