Okay, upsides and downsides. Let's say all three schools schedule each other yearly. Non-conference for all three, and when one or more is doing well, helps the NC schedule. Best of all, we're all close, so it's like another 2 home games for any one of us, helping out our attendance. On the other hand, all three of us have been known to be pretty crappy at one time or another, which doesn't help the "strength of schedule" issue at all if we all have a bad year at the same time.

Thoughts?

I'd love some kind of "Golden Triangle" rivalry thing going, that would be pretty cool.

I renew my call for the creation of a trophy called The Trinity Fork. It would be a giant silver fork mounted on a plaque, and it would be awarded to the winner of a UNT-SMU-TCU series every year.

I have been thinking of something similar lateley..

the question is.. Is it better to get a big paycheck and destroy the morale of your team, or play teams that you have a chance of beating and build fan base?

Do we really need the money that bad? Does it really help us out overall when we open up at home 0-2?

I am sure that there are more resons for playing OU and UT that I am not aware of.

This would be good only if the attendance boom comes our way as well... I seem to remember SMU @ Fouts maybe brought 1000 fans, UNT @ Ford brought around 5000 Mean Green faithful. However, I do imagine TCU would travel better.

SMU 2006 was the first time we had played in years, and they didn't expect the beatdown they received. But I do recall we had a good crowd, just over 25,000.
